David grew up in Central Florida and is a graduate of the University of Florida. After a short season and some valuable experience in the business world, David left Florida for Louisiana and received M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. David s wife and ministry partner is Beverly, and they have three grown children. AE Brain Based Basic Training Peggy Osbourne What is the most effective, brain-based type of training we can use with children so that when we teach, they really can hear and obey? STEPHANIE CHASE Stephanie is a graduate from Texas Tech University and has a master s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She has worked in Childhood Education/ Ministry as a teacher, director, writer, minister, and trainer for 20 years. She currently serves as the Kids Minister at Champion Forest Baptist Church. LANDRY HOLMES Landry Holmes is the Manager of LifeWay Kids Ministry Publishing. He is a church leader, writer, workshop facilitator and publisher. Landry also teaches children at his church in Middle Tennessee. He and his wife Janetta are the parents of two adult sons and two daughters-in-law. PRESCHOOL/CHILDREN S A T U R D A Y KAREN KENNEMUR Karen is an associate professor of childhood education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She leads parenting conferences and teacher training sessions. She serves with various organizations as an advocate for children. She and her husband attend MacArthur Blvd. Baptist Church in Irving, Texas. MELITA THOMAS Melita serves as LifeWay s VBS and Kids Ministry Specialist. She is also an editor of LifeWay s VBS resources. Melita holds a masters degree in Childhood Ministry from Dallas Baptist University. Melita enjoys teaching kindergartners and preteens at Nashville First Baptist Church. MARCIA WOOD An active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano since 1987, Marcia Wood has a passion for Bible Drill and Speakers Tournament. She recently served as the Bible Drill Specialist for the SBTC. PEGGY OSBORNE Peggy spent fourteen years in the elementary classroom teaching pre-k, kindergarten, second and fourth grades. She is now a consultant and co-founder of You Are My Treasure speaking at women s events, retreats and workshops for parents and educators. DANIEL WILLIAMS Daniel currently serves as the Special Needs Family Associate at Houston s First Baptist. After decades in the legal and business professions, God led him into special needs ministry so that the works of God might be displayed. He and his wife, Mary Lynn, have three children Tyna, Mae and David, who has Classic Autism Disorder. 5

8 CHILDREN S MUSIC ROOM TITLE/DESCRIPTION CHILDREN S MUSIC SPEAKER These sessions will focus on age-appropriate, innovative methods for teaching music education, use of instruments by children and interactive activities which encourage children to offer praise to God, while gaining musical skills and having fun. Each session will be a continuation from the previous session. SESSION 1 (10:00 AM) RM AE 309 Teaching Kids to Participate in Worship of the Church Music is a way to teach kids about God and to prepare them to worship. SESSION 3 (1:00 PM) RM AE 309 Teaching Kids Music Without Music Teacher Experience Years of Music Education is not needed to lead kids in music. Learn essential tools you will need to be successful in Children s Music. Learn how to successfully plan, prepare and perform a children s music program. Beth Mitchell BETH MITCHELL Beth has been a part of Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston, TX for over 27 years and has been on the Worship staff as the Next Gen Associate for the past 8 years. She taught elementary music for 13 years while serving at CFBC but then had the opportunity to serve Him fulltime in ministry. Beth believes kid s choirs are not just about singing for mom and dad but about teaching authentic worship to kids and showing them ways to express our love for a Holy and Worthy God, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. 6

To properly navigate those years and prepare for what is to come requires patience, encouragement and a solid foundation. As leaders we must be ready to come alongside parents and provide resources and guidance while encouraging the child with truths from the word. As parents and leaders, we must understand its impact and what we can do to properly control the data and use it in a positive fashion in the life of a child. MIKE HARVEY Mike is the Minister to Preteens at Houston s First Baptist Church. He has a passion to see preteens own their faith and become fully devoted disciples of Jesus. He has served in children s and student ministry for the past 13 years. CURTIS JAMES Curtis is the Worship Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, TX. Over the last twenty-five years he has served in various diverse ministries, aiding in developing church leaders around the world. He is married with two teenage boys and holds a bachelor s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master s from Criswell College. 7

11 CURTIS JAMES Curtis James is the Worship Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, TX. Over the last twenty-five years he has served in various diverse ministries aiding in developing church leaders around the world. He is married with two teenage boys and holds a bachelor s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master s from Criswell College. STEVEN MORRIS Steven serves at the student pastor at Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston, TX. He is married to Chelsea and they have three sons. Steven is passionate about seeing all kinds of students pursue Jesus! RICHARD ROSS Richard is husband to LaJuana, who has joined him in a lifetime of loving teenagers. They are parents of Clayton. Richard served as youth minister for thirty years and now is a volunteer with teenagers and parents at Wedgwood Baptist in Fort Worth. Richard is professor to the next generation of youth ministers at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth. Since its inception, Richard has served as the spokesperson for the international True Love Waits movement. MITCH TIDWELL Mitch Tidwell serves the SBTC as the Collegiate Ministry Associate. Mitch is passionate about preaching the gospel and empowering churches to reach collegiate students with the gospel of Jesus Christ. MARCIA WOOD An active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano since 1987, Marcia Wood has a passion for Bible Drill and Speakers Tournament. She recently served as the Bible Drill Specialist for the SBTC. BILLY BARNES Billy is the Senior Adult Associate in the SBTC Church Ministries department. He is available to meet and consult with churches who need help with their senior adult ministry. He also serves as the Senior Adult Minister at his local church, FBC New Braunfels. BRYAN GILMORE Bryan has been in educational ministry for 20 years. He has served across Texas and in Atlanta, Georgia. He has participated in church plants as a bi-vocational pastor, established churches and served a variety of congregational sizes. His passion is to see the local body make a positive impact in their part of the world for the kingdom of God through the gospel. DON MUNTON Don has been working with single adults since the beginning of time. He has been instrumental in helping single adults move from the sidelines to the front lines. He is passionate about discipleship and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He and his wife Denise have three children. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL S A T U R D A Y SHANE PRUITT Shane serves as the Director of Missions and oversees the Missions Department of the SBTC. He has been in ministry for over 13 years as a church planter, lead pastor, associate pastor and student pastor. Shane is also a traveling communicator & Bible teacher for many student camps. Shane has been married to his beautiful wife Kasi for 12 years, and they have four children Raygen, Harper, Titus and Elliot. CHRIS SHIRLEY Chris serves as Program Director and Associate Professor of Discipleship with the Graduate School of Ministry at Dallas Baptist University. Dr. Shirley has taught in the Terry School of Church and Family Ministries at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Shirley has also served for over 20 years in Christian camping and local churches in North Carolina and Texas. He and his wife are active members at Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth. JACK TERRY Jack is the former dean of Jack D. Terry School of Church and Family Ministries at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has also served as professor of foundations in Christian education and teaches an adult Sunday school for mature adults. CALEB TURNER Caleb serves as the equipping pastor for the Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church. He has a master s degree in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry in Apologetics from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Tamera, and they are raising three active boys. 11

17 DENNY AUTRY Denny has served as the Dean and Professor of Pastoral Ministries of the J. Dalton Havard School for Theological Studies, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary s Houston campus since His undergraduate degree is a BBA from Stephen F. Austin State University in Management and Marketing, and his graduate work began at Southwestern s Houston extension where he earned his MDivBL (1984) and his DMin from Southwestern (1987). Autrey completed his PhD dissertation in Homiletics and Evangelism from Southwestern (2013). He is married to Angela and they have three daughters, Amber Julie and Haley. JOSH PROCTOR Josh works on staff with his dad in an organization called Mentoring One 2 One. Previously, Josh was a pastor of a church plant, a student pastor and on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ. Josh Proctor has been married to his wife Kelly for 16 years. They have eight incredible children. ERIC REED Eric serves as the Minister to Men and New Christians at Houston s First Baptist Church. PEGGY OSBORNE Peggy spent fourteen years in the elementary classroom teaching pre-k, kindergarten, second and fourth grades. She is now a consultant and co-founder of You Are My Treasure, speaking at women s events, retreats and workshops for parents and educators. IRMA RAMOS Irma has served alongside her husband, a pastor, in churches in Texas from 1977 present. Through the years, the Lord has equipped her to teach women, youth, and children in Sunday School and in various other ministries. In 2000, she began I Am Ministries. Under this ministry, she is available to respond to opportunities to teach women in leadership in their local church. NANCY TURNER Nancy Turner is a seasoned pastor s wife, mother of three adult married children and grandmother of eight. She is a conference speaker, teaches an adult women s Sunday school class and serves as an adviser for several ministries within her church. Nancy s desire is to inspire women to draw nearer to God by speaking and teaching his word with clarity. She is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. ANITA O. WOOD Anita has been serving with the SBTC team since She shares from a God-given passion and the overflow of his activity in her life. BRUNO MOLINA Bruno serves the SBTC as the evangelism associate for language and interfaith evangelism. Bruno holds a B.A. in international relations and Spanish from NYU and a Th.M. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Bruno is married to Clara and they have two children. IRMA RAMOS Irma has served alongside her husband, a pastor, in churches in Texas from 1977 present. Through the years, the Lord has equipped her to teach women, youth, and children in Sunday School and in various other ministries. In 2000, she began I Am Ministries. Under this ministry, she is available to respond to opportunities to teach women in leadership in their local church. MARCOS RAMOS Marcos has been the pastor of First Baptist Church of Galena Park since He is a graduate of Baptist Seminary in San Antonio and Dallas Baptist University. Marcos has also completed master level studies at Criswell College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Marcos has been married to Irma for 39 years. 35

She desires to help women glorify God in all the different seasons of their lives. Leah is also the founder of Going Higher Ministries, and the author of No Trespassing: I m God s Property. OLUS HOLDER Olus is the executive pastor of Fallbrook Church. He has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University, a bachelor of arts degree in Christian studies from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Nikita and they were blessed with two children, Leah Annice and Janelle Nikole, who is with the Lord. AVERRI T. LEMALLE Averri is the Teaching Pastor of Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston, TX. He is a graduate of Caskey School of Divinity, Louisiana College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Averri and his wife, Kionna, have been married for over seventeen years. From their heavenly union were born four manifestations of love: three sons and one daughter, Averri II, Kiondré, Travonté, and Janae. RICHARD TAYLOR Richard serves as an SBTC Church Planting Associate. Before coming to the SBTC, he most recently served as the Director of Evangelism and Ministry for the Baptist Convention of New York. He received educational training from Texas A & I University, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and over 20 years of service in various ministry and denominational positions. S A T U R D A Y NANCY TURNER Nancy Turner is a seasoned pastor s wife, mother of three adult married children and grandmother of eight. She is a conference speaker, teaches an adult women s Sunday school class and serves as an adviser for several ministries within her church. Nancy s desire is to inspire women to draw nearer to God by speaking and teaching his word with clarity. She is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. TERRY TURNER Pastor Turner is a native of Guthrie, Oklahoma and the past president of the SBTC. In 1991 he organized and planted the Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church with five families and since then, the church has grown to over 2,100 members. Pastor Turner holds a master s degree in Biblical Studies and Christian Education and a doctor of ministry in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is married to the love of his life, Nancy. They have three children, one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law and eight grandchildren. 38
