1 C.O.M.M.I.T. C.A.C. Penn. Mountain of Redemption s Quarterly Inspirational Journal March 2007 Come to Christ CAC PENNSYLVANIA, Mountain of Redemption Open your heart and 5200 Paschall Avenue Mind to Him Philadelphia, Pa Meditate day and night His words Tel # Identify with Him and Totally surrender your life to Him com FROM THE PASTOR S DESK. * STEPS TO KNOW GOD AND HIS WAYS PRAYER Pray Until Something Happens Knowing that God has sovereign control as creator and sustainer of both the physical and spiritual universe, we must govern the way we think. God is intimately involved with our lives in a way that eludes our grasp. Any wisdom that leads to the truth comes from Him. The only way any man can know and understand God is by specific revelation. Understanding God s true nature will lead us to a hope in redemption and eternal life. Godliness will result from a true knowledge of God. Godly living rejects evil attitudes and looks for God in every circumstance. The true knowledge of God leads to humility. Humility is not the self deprecation which many of us are often acquainted. Rather it is the refusal to trust oneself for the fulfillment of ones needs. Only a wise person lives in view of what he knows to be true about God, the world, and himself. His approach to God is humble and self effacing. In refusing to accuse God of any wrongdoing in adversities a wise man is able to patiently embrace and endure suffering, knowing that God s loving hand will prevail beyond it. A wise man also knows that although we are to seek to live righteously, our righteousness cannot earn God s favor. Calvary love, Pastor Odeyale A B C. GRACE IS A GIFT NOT A DEBT. ******** Admit that you are a sinner (Romans 3:23) and Repent of your sins Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God And that He died to save you (Romans 6:23) Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord --- that He is God and the Ruler of all, including your life. (Romans 10:9-10) Affirm these things and be saved. What do we expect to happen when we pray? What is prayer to a believer? WHO do we pray to? Why do we pray? For who? About what? Where? When? Why do we need to pray? These are some of the questions people ask about prayer. Needless to say --- PRAYER is the greatest unused weapon in the world today. It is the force used to change the most difficult situations in life. Yet most people do not know how to tap into this special resource. The potency or power in prayer when done properly will reduce the power of the most deadly bomb into mere child s play. GOD and PRAYER are inseparable. Prayer is the lifting up of our soul to the Living Unchangeable- Changer, our Loving Father who can change our circumstances. Prayer is our conversation with God. Prayer is the converse of the soul with God Himself. In prayer we open our hearts and turn our minds to God. We should enter prayer with alacrity and inward delight. Our prayer time must be the happiest time because it is our time together with our creator. The one and only person who made us, knows us in and out and is able to fix whatever is wrong, provided we consult with Him concerning the situation. If we love the Lord as we profess, it should be the most natural thing in the world for us to want to be in HIS presence and converse with Him daily. In Prayer, we are communicating with God our Living heart speaking to a Living Ear the Ear of the Living God. Wherever we are, God is there and we only need to pray to bring Him and Us together. He is our Ever-present help and Never- Distant friend. Therefore, let us take our request to the Throne of Grace, into the Ear of the Great High Priest. Our earthly friends will sympathize with us but they cannot help us. We have a friend closer than ourselves ready to help us why not take it to Him in prayer.

2 What a Friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer! HOW TRUE!!!! By our prayers we import to earth blessings not native to it. Prayer is the arrow we can use to penetrate the spirit world and destroy their powers. It is the only missile that Satan fears. He does not want us to know the power in prayer and the name of Jesus. He does not want us to desire and express our prayer life When we desire to pray and actually go for it the way it should be, mountains are moved. Knowing that our desires can be granted by God, we must present them to Him in prayer. Unto Thee O Lord, do I lift up my soul? We must have the right attitude of heart, mind and soul when we pray. When we know God the way He wants us to know Him, our daily conversation with Him will be awesome. We must strive to make God the supreme object of our prayers. Only then can something good happen. Our prayer is not to praise our fellow men/women but to appreciate God. We should not pray to inform God or persuade Him His love needs no induction or to be coaxed. Jesus teaches us in the Lord s prayer, Whom we must offer our prayers to and how we are to think or perceive the one to whom we praying. Our Father. In this we are to think of God as a Father, to pray to Him as a Father and to trust Him as a real absolute Father who would not give a snake to his child in place of a fish. Moreover, if we are praying to God and the object of our prayer is God and not men/women then no matter how many people are at the prayer-meeting so long as He is there, for He is the one that matters, we need not be concerned about the crowd. Our prayers is unto God and God alone not men We need to pray because God has commanded us to. He is our Father alright, He knows what we need before we pray But in obedience to what He said, we must pray. He told us to pray, unless we wish to disobey Him; that should be sufficient. Ask and it shall be given unto you. He that ASKETH receiveth. I will yet be INQUIRED of by the House of Israel to do it for them. God does not need us to tell Him of our wants for He knows, but we need to humble ourselves before Him and make our requests. Question Can or Does prayer influence God or cause Him to change His mind? We should be reminded that there is no necessity for any change in God. If there is any changing that needs to be done, it is us who need to be changed. The only permanent obstacles to our complete happiness lie in us. We learnt in Hebrew 6:17 that God s purpose is fixed and immutable. There is a force which God permits and ordained to stir into movement. PRAYER is the force which God permits and ordained to stir HIM to action. God s purpose is there, fixed and determined but until the conditions are fulfilled and the petition is made, God deliberately hold back his gifts and will not put His purpose into action. His purpose is unchanged but it is quiescent. The request of a child of God would therefore move God into action. Some will not ask or ask amiss, ask for too little or too much or fail completely to comply with the spirit of the condition and as long as the conditions are not met even though God s purpose is unchanged we do not get what we ask for. When we adhere to God s warnings and obey all instructions then make the request known unto Him, God s Purpose is moved from quiescence to action. Our prayers move God s purpose into activity. 1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. PRAY without ceasing 1 Thess 5:17 Prayer is a wonderful privilege accorded the children of God God made it possible for us to enter into His private chamber at any place or time as long as we desire. Isaiah 62:6-7 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence and give Him no rest till He establish and till He make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Here God declares that He will not rest until His purposes are fulfilled. Knowing that God s thoughts towards us are not evil but good, He delights in the work of His hands. We are His and we must be praised here on earth to the glory of God the Father. For Zion s sake will I not hold my peace and for Jerusalem s sake I will not rest. This is a wake-up call for us that we must never slack off in prayer. GIVE HIM NO REST ---- GIVE GOD NO REST! In order words we must be persistent in our prayers. We are being taught here to be importunate with God. Wrestle with God as Jacob did. We must be restless until the purposes of our God are accomplished, part of which is to win souls for Him. We shall win souls for God when miracles, signs, and wonders are happening in our lives. Our burden for souls should drive us to our knees, same way as our accomplishments.

3 1 Sam 12:23 says..god forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you. We must realize that the neglect of prayer is a sin. We must constantly pray for those in authority. For God to guide them so they do not go astray. We must not be selfish in our prayers. Remember our families and friends not only close ones but distant relations as well. We must pray if we love God. Prayer is the test of our spiritual health. We do not love prayer because we do not love God. If prayer is not real to us, it is because God is not real to us. Prayer is said to be the thermometer of grace. We must be taught from the Bible how to pray. John the Baptist taught the disciples to pray, and the Twelve came to Jesus saying Lord teach us to pray --- not how to pray but to pray the practical ways of prayer. We must learn how to ask God in prayer. There is nothing too big for God. He can do all things. We must not limit God; we must persevere our prayer must position us to receive God s favor. When God sees that we depend on Him, He is compelled to grant our requests. To achieve in life, we must be prayerful. Always remember that prayer is a Jacob s ladder with the angels ascending and descending taking up the petitions and bringing down the answers. The same way that man cannot live physically without breathing, he cannot live spiritually without praying. We as Christians must always rise up to God through prayer into a loftier, purer region for supplies of Divine grace. A prayer-less Christian is a dead one. Prayer can be said anywhere. It is an outlet of trouble and an inlet of comfort in some cases. It is praise and worship. We can pray about anything and everything, for much prayer, much blessing--- little prayer little blessing, no prayer no blessing. Our greatest lack is not praying. Prayer is omnipotent. It moves the Hand that moves our universe. Prayer changes impotence to omnipotence Examine yourself -- How is your prayer life???? Remember to move into a miracle territory, we have to do our part which is to pray. When we do, then God will be compelled to move. It starts with us praying and the Angels take our request to God. Praise God and He dwells with you. Send prayers up and God sends the answers down. Praise with victory shout and the walls come down. Miracles are bound to happen. Press harder in prayer and miracles, uncountable blessings will surely come. Amen. IN PRAYER WE ARE TO: CASTING ALL YOUR CARES UPON HIM. 1 Peter 5:7 PRAY WITHOUT CEASING. 1 Thess 5:17 MEN OUGHT ALWAYS TO PRAY AND NOT TO FAINT. Luke 18:1 CONTINUE IN PRAYER AND WATCH IN THE SAME WITH THANKSGIVING: Col. 4:2 I WILL LIFT UP MINE EYES UNTO THE HILL FROM WHENCE COMETH MY HELP. Ps 121:1 AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND SIN NOT. 1 Cor. 15:34 IN PRAYER WE COME BOLDLY UNTO THE THRONE OF GRACE THAT WE MAY OBTAIN MERCY. Heb 4:16 WE ARE BEING REVIVED ACCORDING TO GOD S WORD. PS. 119:25 AND THE LORD SHALL GUIDE THEE CONTINUALLY. Isaiah 58:11 AND THERE I WILL MEET WITH THEE, AND I WILL COMMUNE WITH THEE FROM ABOVE THE MERCY SEAT. Exodus 25:22 THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE UPON THE RIGHTEOUS AND HIS EARS ARE OPEN UNTO THEIR CRY. Ps 34:15 THERE THE LORD COMMANDED THE BLESSING. Ps 133:3 WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE DELIVERED. Joel 2:32 AS FOR ME, I WILL CALL UPON GOD AND THE LORD SHALL SAVE ME. Ps. 55:16 THE LORD IS MY PORTION, THEREFORE WILL I HOPE IN HIM. Lamentation 3:24 THAT IN ALL THINGS, HE MIGHT HAVE THE PRE- EMINENCE. Col. 1:18 AND YE SHALL SEEK ME AND FIND ME WHEN YE SHALL SEARCH FOR ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART. Jer. 29:13 ******************************************* ******************************************* THE TONGUE AS DEFINED BY JAMES CHAPTER 3:5-18 CONTROL THE TONGUE (from THE BOOK).. So also the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. A great forest can be set on fire by one tiny spark. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness, and poisons every part of the body. And the tongue is set on fire by hell itself, and can turn our whole lives into a blazing flame of destruction and disaster. Men have trained, or can train, every kind of animal or bird that lives and every kind of reptile and fish, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is always ready to pour out its deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our heavenly Father, and sometimes it breaks out into curses against men who are made like God. And so blessing and cursing comes pouring out of the same mouth. Dear brothers, surely this is not right! Does a spring of water bubble out first with fresh water and then with bitter water? Can you pick olives from a fig tree, or figs from a grape vine? No, and you cannot draw fresh water from a salty pool. If you are wise, live a life of steady goodness, so that only good deeds will pour forth. And if you do not brag about them, then you will be truly wise!

4 And by all means do not brag about being wise and good if you are bitter and jealous and selfish; that is the worst sort of lie. Jealousy and selfishness are not God s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, inspired by the devil. For wherever there is jealousy or selfish ambition, there will be disorder and every other kind of evil. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure and full of quiet gentleness. Then it is peace-loving and courteous. It allows discussion and is willing to yield to others; it is full of mercy and good deeds. It is wholehearted and straightforward and sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness. If anyone can control his/her tongue, it proves that he/she has perfect control over himself/herself in every other way. Where are you with your tongue? How do you use your tongue? POSITIVELY OR NEGATIVELY WATCH OUT!!! Identify all the 25 underlined words.
