1 SC2ER WEEK 8 PHASE ONE SELF-ASSESSMENT AND GROUP EVALUATION The journey into Phase One has come to an end, but the journey towards dismantling and eradicating racism is really just beginning. During the self-evaluation and group processing assign a recorder to capture your responses. Give the responses to your facilitator. Your facilitator will make sure they are sent to the National Office. Sacred Group Processing Phase One Self-Evaluation u Share what you learned in Phase One. u Describe your experience with each week s sessions. u What are you taking away from this community/group learning experience? u Describe your experiences with learning about race and racism from cultural perspectives. u Was the Bible Self-Evaluation helpful as you encountered the Bible from cultural perspectives? Group Evaluation u Describe your experience with your group. u Was the group culturally and ethnically diverse? u If yes, did diversity create new learning for you? u If no, describe your experience. u Were the Community Agreements helpful during group processing? u Was the facilitation process smooth and easy to navigate? u Provide feedback from your personal experiences during the 8-week sessions. Sing along, read aloud. Feel the rhythms, reflect on the journey and the words of the songs and the words of the Scriptures be your sacred resources. Refer back to these songs and Scriptures often as you continue writing in your journals, telling your stories about new encounters with the Bible, and the importance of the equality of all cultures that will continue to dismantle and eradicate racism and white supremacy. A version of that song was recorded in The African American Civil Rights song Ain t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round is based on an African American Gospel song with the same title. In the Gospel song, the line marchin in to freedom land is sung walkin into Glory land or walkin into heaven land. Like other civil rights songs, the words to this song aren t fixed. However, Ain t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round was sung in unison which means that those singing it knew in advance which verses were to be sung, and in which order the verses were sung. In contrast, the earliest renditions of the Gospel song probably were sung using a call & response pattern. 70
