1 Page 9 DAY 1 Our sword is the Bible Knights of God Day 1 Skit Intro Lady Welcome everyone of you to the Castle you will remember for the rest of your life, as the castle of your training- your training as a Knight! I am so Glad that you are here as we begin our adventure; our Journey to become Knights of God! What are some things you think of when you think of Knights? (Let Children Answer) We train Knights, everyday! Knights have to train every day to become stronger! There are lots of people here to help you become a Knight! Now, at the castle, there are knights training at all stages- there are 4 stages of knighthood: Apprentice, Page, Squire; and finally, you will be knighted! By the end of the day, I hope we can make you all apprentices! All week, we ll start by praising God, and singing songs to Him, thanking Him for what he s done! We especially want to thank Jesus for our Salvation and freedom, which we ll be learning more about all week! Salvation is a big word that means Saved, and we are all saved by what Jesus did on the cross. This song also reminds us that no matter what life throws at us, we re OK if we trust Jesus: **SING Salvation is Here **

2 Page 10 Lady You will learn about the different tools that a Knight of God uses and more about the values and responsibilities of the Knight s Code! Then you will move up to the next level of Knight of God! We will say the Knight s Code everyday to remind us of what we re striving for! Ours is based on the Bible- THIS is our Knight s Code: Knights Code A knight of God uses God s Word d as a sword against evil, stands with God for what is right, uses faith as a shield against fear, remembers Jesus our Savior lives, runs with peace to share Jesus love story, And stands firm in truth and love To become a Knight, you must promise to try to live out the Knight s Code! Now, it s kind of long, which is why everyday, we re going to learn ONE piece of armor a Knight of God uses. We are going to learn ONE Bible Truth everyday, so that we will have what the Bible calls a Belt of Truth. Our Bible Truth for today is OUR SWORD IS THE BIBLE! So, if you hear me, or anyone else in the castle say a part of the Knights Code, you should throw your hand in the air and say, Knights Unite! Lets try it! (OUR SWORD IS THE BIBLE! kids answer Knights Unite! ) Bible Truth Knights Unite means that we can help one another stay focused on what God wants in our life! That s really important because if you look around you, you re surrounded by your Knight s Circle! And oh, no, not them again...

3 Page 11 (Fighting knights Daniel and Richard enter in from stage left but are moving slowly to center stage, another knight in training, Alec, enters from stage right moving directly to center to Lady Laura- important that Daniel and Richard fight in front of Laura and Alec) Hello, Lady Laura, How are you today? Fine, thank you! My new apprentices, I would like to meet Alex! Alex, apprentices! (distracted by 2 knights fighting) They ve been at it like that for 20 minutes; they ran through part of the Abby- brother Wilber was not happy! Oh, and the cook said we re having fried eel stew for dinner. Ugh, not again! (toward fighting boys) Sir Daniel, the new apprentices are here! I rather enjoy it! (still watching them fight) Do you think they re getting tired yet? Oi! You two, you haven t met the new apprentices! Oh, I ll handle this. No please, allow me (pulls out sword; disarms both knights in 5 sec with some cool and practiced sword moves)

4 Page 12 Maybe, Sir Daniel, you should teach your new Squire to pay attention when fighting! That was never one of my strengths either! Obviously! Are these the new apprentices then? I told you to tell me when they arrived! I m sorry, next time I ll remember to shout louder! Sorry about that, really, Richard and I got a little carried away. New apprentices, I d like you to meet Richard, my latest Squire.. Richard: Hey! (catches breath) You are in for a LOT of training! Let me explain a bit about your days here in the castle- each day you ll meet with your Knights Circle and your Knight who is leading you through training. It is so very important that you listen to your Knight! They tell you were to go, what to do, and without them, completing your training will be harder and longer- trust your leader and trust your Knight s Circle! Richard: Your Knight s Circle is like your family while your training. Don t be afraid to tell them things, and don t hold back giving them help and encouragement- you re all going to need it.

5 Page 13 And then you ll travel through the castle, through Knight s Training, Tournament Games, the Great Hall for snacks, and more! Today, you will be learning about the Sword of a Knight of God, the Word of God-The Bible-Our Sword is the Bible (Knights Unite) Richard: Right, the book! (sarcastically, in quotations) How many times must we go through this? It took a long time for me to accept that the Bible was as powerful as a sword, too, Sir Daniel, and there was a story in the Bible that convinced me. Richard: What? Did God pelt people with Bibles from heaven? Just throw them at people? You have the strangest daydreams, Richard, do you know that? No, but it makes the Bible look like something far more powerful, something that can literally make Satan and all of the powers of darkness something that makes that (pointing to sword) look weak. (excitedly) Oh, good! He gave the foreboding intro- He s going to tell the story! I love Storytime! (Sits down criss-cross legs like in a story time circle-others look at Alec strangely)

6 Page 14 Actually, I was going to wait until Knight s Training, Alec, but you can come later on if you want to that badly! Oh, no no big deal. But I will come along to Knight s Training! (directly to children) It s such a great story, with Jesus using the Bible to fight off Satan s lies, and there s a desert, and there s a rock (Daniel clears throat) (realizing she s giving it away) And lots of other things that you ll learn about soon! We need to learn about all of our armor, apprentices, if we re going to change the world and make it a better place, full of Jesus Love! And another thing we ll learn all today is that God s words can be LIFE to us, help us each and everyday, every breath we take! Let s sing a song about that now! It s called Your Words are Life **SING Your Words are Life ** And before we go, one other new song to remind you that the ONLY way God s word is a sword is if we take the wisdom from the BIBLE and live it out! **SING Live it Out **

7 Page 15 CLOSING CEREMONY (All Actors on stage) Lady So, it s been an incredible first day of training! I can t believe all the great reports I ve heard from our Knights, from our Blacksmith on the wonderful swords you ve completed, and so much more! I think you have ALL proven today that you can be great Apprentices! SO, I officially am promoting you! As of now, you are ALL official Apprentices! Tomorrow, Stages of Knighthood we ll be working towards becoming Pages! And not like in a book! A Page has more responsibility and training! And remember, you can invite friends to join training too! They can catch up on what we ve learned and become Pages tomorrow too! And we all want your Knights Circle to grow just a little bit this week! 8 Page 16 Richard: And don t forget that Our Sword is the Bible (kids should answer Knights Unite )! And there are people in the world who don t have the Bible yet! So if you bring in your offering money tomorrow, we can make sure everyone has a way to fight off temptation, fear, and know that there is only one God who loves them very much! Bible Truth That really makes me want to sing again! Can we? Lady You know, the Bible says, when we know the truth, it s hard to keep it quiet! We want to share it with the world, shout it from the rooftops! Lets sing a new song about that kind of excitement now! That We Won t Be Quiet! **SING We Won t Be Quiet ** Lady And lets remember what we learned today by singing our Bible song one more time! **SING Your Words are Life ** (GIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS) Lady And we learned from our story today just how important Jesus is, and I can t wait to learn more tomorrow, and we ll learn how to use an entire other piece of armor, too!
