2 !2 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge Hosea 4:6 Effective Bible Reading Introduction Effective Bible Reading is a Christian Education Course designed to assist the student in the proper and systemic way to read, study, and apply the Word of God. Jesus made it clear that learning and living the Bible is God s will for our lives. He said, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). As students of the Word, we all must be reminded that Effective Bible Reading is absolutely essential to the edification of the Body of Christ and the advancement of His Kingdom. Thus, Christian Education must be planned, employed, and evaluated for effectiveness. The church was commissioned to teach the saints, enrich the lives of others, and equip the members to carry their ministry into the world (Duet. 6:1-7; Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:4-8; Eph. 4:11-12).

3 !3 Course Objective The objectives of this course are to assist the Bible student in understanding the rules of proper Bible reading and interpretation in order to: 1) bring people into a right relationship with God and each other; 2) understand and appropriate the Word; and 3) apply the Scriptures to experience ultimate victory in our lives. (Matthew 22:37; 1 Cor. 12:12-13; Proverbs 4:7; 2 Tim 3:16) The Purposesof Effective Bible Reading 1. To develop a more personal relationship with Christ (Salvation) 2. To learn, understand and grow in the Word of God (Sanctification) 3. To Apply the Word of God to our lives (Application) 4. To spread the Gospel message (Evangelism) 5.
