1 Erie First Christian Academy December 12, 2011 Volume 1, Issue 1 The Eagle Eye Operation Christmas Child On November 10, EFCA students, teachers and friends finished packing the boxes for Operation Christmas Child. This was the culmination of a project that was started at the beginning of the school year by student council and headed up by Nikki Doutt and Julia Williams. There were about 80 people who came to help pack the boxes, including some people from other churches. They spent most of the time packing items such as, paper, coloring books, tooth paste, tooth brushes and toys. What surprised them was that they packed 509 boxes in all, and in such a short time! All of those boxes were sent to the children in third world countries who aren t fortunate enough celebrate Christmas. We are all imagining the smiling faces of the kids who are going to get our boxes, said one of the students. 2 Dear Holly Dear Holly, Christmas is fast approaching and presents are being discussed and determined. There are so many people that I want to get presents for; friends and family galore. Most of the gifts I want to get for them range from $10 to $15. To say that I don t have the money to pay for it is a very large understatement! I barely have $20 in the bank, let alone the cash that I would need to buy everyone everything I want to get them. Simply put it s just not going to happen money can not stretch that far. What should I do? I still want to get everyone gifts but the money just isn t there.,broke & Desperate Broke & Desperate, Oh, the holiday season full of running around, stress and absolute craziness! Money is often a problem during the holiday season, even for people who have money. I think your first step is to ask around your house, parents, siblings, grandparents ask to do extra chores for money. Although they may give you money they probably won t give you a lot. You probably will still have to get your family and friends smaller gifts, but that s okay they will appreciate the thought. I suggest buying Gifts that you can get in a pack of four or five it will make it cheaper for you to buy. Homemade gifts are also an option you can Google ideas if you can t think of any to make. 3 Do you know...mrs. Burlingame? This is our high school mathematics teacher. She teaches Geometry, Pre calculus, Calculus and College Prep math. Her favorite class is College Prep Math. Mrs.Burligame has been teaching here at EFCA for 11 years. Outside of school, she likes to walk, read and spend time with her family. Some of her teaching methods for math are to make design games using different numeric systems.

4 EFCA SPIRIT WEEK To promote Spirit and unity in our school, the Student Council hosted the first of two Spirit Weeks during the week of November The EFCA students were asked to show their school spirit by dressing a specific way each day. A most spirited winner was chosen each day by the teachers. Monday - Career Day On Monday, students dressed up for the career they hoped to have someday. Tuesday Twin Day On Tuesday, students found their twin and dressed up for Twin Day

5 EFCA SPIRIT WEEK Wednesday: Candy Day Thursday: Decade Day On Thursday, students dressed up on their favorite decade. The 20 s, 40 s. 50 s, 70 s and 90 s were all represented. On Wednesday, students dressed up as their favorite candy. We saw quite a variety of yummy sweets! Friday: sports day Friday was Sports Day. Students dressed in their favorite sports gear of wore their favorite sports team s jerseys. Even the teachers dressed for this day!

Terry was previously the girls coach for Girard Alliance Christian Academy, and Melissa was his assistant. Former coach, Randy Newport is returning this year. They have several tournaments scheduled this year and are looking forward to winning season!

8 WISDOM from GRACE Now is the Christmas season when many reminisce of Christ s birth. Christ Jesus had a purpose coming into the World! One of the purposes of coming to the earth was so that we might have life, and have life more abundantly. Jesus came to give the world, including us, eternal life and true fulfillment. He says In John 16:6 that He is the way, the truth, and the life! It is only possible to obtain eternal life and Christ s fulfillment in this life that we live if we believe Him, want Him, and realize our need for Him. This life that I m talking about here is eternal life or a certain fulfillment. We are sinners headed to a real place called hell where there is continuous torture if we don't believe and follow Christ! Christ offers eternal life in heaven where there is joy, peace, and life! The other life that I m going to keep the emphasis on is satisfaction and fulfillment. This fulfillment could be having a purpose for living. All humans have a void that we try to fill with other things, but only Christ can truly satisfy our inner void. We are in need of Christ, but not everyone believes that. We are sinners in need of a savior! You may feel like you have everything; it could be friends or whatever, but if they go away and don't come back, what are you going to do? The Lord can only fill you once you believe Him, want, and need Him. The first step for Christ to step in your life and help you out is to believe that He is real and exists. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is. Jesus is real, and that is still evident today. God hasn t changed (Heb. 13:8) The second step for the Lord to satisfy you is to really want and desire Christ. There has to be a hunger for the Lord to feed and nourish you. In Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Luke 6:21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. The common saying, When there s a will there s a way is true. If you really want and hunger for the Lord to fill you, you ll be satisfied. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 8:35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord. Jesus also says that He is the Bread of life! Jesus is right there, the Life, but you have to hunger enough to find that life. This kind of attitude is being poor in spirit. It says in Mat. 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. The Lord will look to you and meet your need when you admit you don't have it all together. Isaiah 66:2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, says the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word. The Lord favors these people that are poor in spirit. The Lord will come down to help us when we realize we need Him. If we don't think we have a need, we wont ask for help and God wont always help us. We aren't perfect or have it all together; we need Jesus to help us! Once we apprehend this and seek for his help or fulfillment, it will come. He will indeed fill us if we diligently seek Him! Hebrews 11:6b He (Christ) is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. One of the rewards for seeking Him is finding the giver of life (Prov. 8:35) and his life that he offers, whether eternal or satisfactory. Humans are in need of Christ! People often look to other things to fill that need. When one finds Christ, when they hunger and seek Him, they will have life, feel there is a purpose for their lives, and be filled. Christ is everything, has everything, and can give everything; the question is, are we in the position to receive what He has for us? Do we believe and have faith that He is able to provide for our need? Are we ready to come to the knowledge that we don't have everything and He does? My prayer for us and myself is that we can have the desire and hunger to know Him deeply now and not at the end of life! Grace

During Christmas The students at the dorm have different plans for their vacation. Fifteen of them will go back to their hometown and fifteen of them will go traveling.
