There are two life-long works to life... leadership... and ministry... we must master both Work #1 - the work of the John 9:4, 15:8 & 15, 17:4 * getting clear concerning the work that has your name on it Ministry issues that have to do with the work of the WORK = The Journey To Success 1- Set of Competencies 2- Alliance... relationships that take the impact of your life to a multiple Work #2 - the work of the Prov. 4:23 - Romans 8:29, 12: Cor. 3:18 - Eph. 2:10 3- Develop enough not to blow up your life... When truth comes knocking how to you respond? INTEGRITY - Henry Cloud Ministry issues that have to do with the work of the HEART = A leader is a person who must take special responsibility for what s going on inside him or herself, inside his or her consciousness, lest the act of leadership create more harm than good. 4 How Effective Youth Workers Think and Act Today s Goal To discuss the core fundamentals of effective student ministry and how you, as a leader, should think and act in response to these. BIG PICTURE - Work of the WORK & Work of the HEART - BIG PICTURE THE ONE PAGE OVERVIEW OF WHAT WE BELIEVE AND WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND Find any authentic student ministry and push through all the dust of programs and activities and you will come face to face with a leader who thinks and acts in a certain way. What will be true of that man or woman? Effective Youth Workers Know they are CALLED by God and live authentically before Him... your ministry begins with a movement of God in you 2- Know WHY they are doing the work... it s the vision thing (Acts 2:17) 3- Know WHERE they are going... it s the mission statement thing 4- Know WHAT matters most to them... it s clarifying YOUR values 5- Know WHICH way they will take to get there... it s about strategy = the thinking behind what you are doing 6- Have figured out a STRUCTURE that supports the mission and strategy... how people get cared for 7- Have decided what role the CAMPUS will play in how they do student ministry... do we go after the campus or not 8- They recruit, develop and train a DREAM TEAM... these volunteers accomplish the work God has assigned Keep in mind which touch the work of the WORK and which the work of the HEART - 4 -
