4 *Please stand where indicated by the asterisk. Congregation responds in bold italics. THE PRELUDE THE WORDS OF WELCOME *THE SIGNS OF PEACE AND HOSPITALITY *THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN Christ The Lord Is Risen Today UMH # 302 Hymn Tune: Easter Hymn *THE EASTER PROCLAMATION Leader: Rejoice, heavenly powers! Exult, all creation around God s throne! Sound the trumpet of salvation! Leader: Rejoice, O earth, in shining splendor, radiant in the brightness of our King! Christ has conquered! Glory fills you! Darkness vanishes for ever! Leader: Rejoice, O holy Church! Exult in glory! The risen Savior shines upon you! Let this place resound with joy, echoing the mighty song of all God s people! Leader: It is truly right that we should praise You, invisible, almighty, and eternal God, and Your Son, Jesus Christ. For Christ has ransomed us with His blood, and paid the debt of Adam s sin to deliver Your faithful people. Leader: This is our Passover feast, when Christ, the true Lamb, is slain. This is the night when first You saved our forebears, You freed the people of Israel from their slavery and led them with dry feet through the sea.

5 Leader: This is the night when the pillar of fire destroyed the darkness of sin! This is the night when Christians everywhere, washed clean of sin and freed from all defilement, are restored to grace and grow together in holiness. Leader: This is the night when Jesus Christ broke the chains of death and rose triumphant from the grave. Night truly blessed, when heaven is wedded to earth, and we are reconciled to You! Leader: Accept this Easter candle, a flame divided but undimmed, a pillar of fire that glows to Your honor. Let it mingle with the lights of heaven and continue bravely burning to dispel the darkness of the night! Leader: May the Morning Star, which never sets, find this flame still burning. Christ, that Morning Star, who came back from the dead, and shed His peaceful light on all creation, Your Son who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen. THE DEDICATION OF THE GRAND PIANO Pastor: Dear Friends, it is with joy that we gather to consecrate this piano. But the consecration of this instrument is vain without the consecration of those whose gifts it represents. Let us give ourselves anew to the service of God: our minds, that they may be renewed after the image of Christ; our bodies, that they may be fit temples for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; and our labors, that they may be according to God s will, and that their fruit may glorify God s name and serve God s eternal purposes. Jordan: We present this piano to be consecrated to the glory of Almighty God and for service in this congregation. Pastor: It is good to give thanks to the Lord. People: to sing praises to Your name, O Most High, Pastor: to declare Your steadfast love in the morning, People: and Your faithfulness at night, Pastor: to the music of the lute and the harp, People: to the melody of the lyre. Pastor: For You, O Lord, have made me glad by Your work; People: at the works of Your hands I sing for joy.

6 Pastor: Let us pray. People: Eternal God, whom the generations have worshiped through the gift of music, accept our praise to You in the sound of this instrument, which we consecrate in Your name and to Your glory. Grant that its music may be a blessing to all who worship here, and that they may be consecrated to You, whose sound has gone out through all the earth and whose words to the end of the world. Let our music be so joined to Your Holy Word that Your glory may surround us and empower us for the service to which You call us in the world; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen THE PIANO DEDICATION SOLO Nocturne in E Major Opus 62 No F. 7 THE OFFERING with Offertory Hymn The Day of Resurrection Hymn Tune: Ellacombe The day of resurrection! Earth, tell it out abroad; the Passover of gladness, the Passover of God. From death to life eternal, from earth unto the sky, our Christ hath brought us over, with hymns of victory. Our hearts be pure from evil, that we may see aright the Lord in rays eternal, of resurrection light; and, listening to his accents, may hear so calm and plain his own "All hail!" and, hearing, may raise the victor strain. Now let the heavens be joyful, let earth her song begin, the round world keep high triumph, and all that is therein; let all things seen and unseen their notes in gladness blend, for Christ the Lord hath risen, our joy that hath no end. *THE DOXOLOGY Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow UMH # 94 Hymn Tune: Lasst Uns Erfreuen *THE DEDICATION OF OUR GIFTS TO GOD *THE RECESSIONAL HYMN Crown Him with Many Crowns UMH # 327 Verses 1 and 2: all Verse 3: choir a cappella Verse 4: all Hymn Tune: Diademata *THE ANNOUNCEMENTS *THE BENEDICTION *THE POSTLUDE Wesley Dedicates A New Piano This Easter Sunday brings the dedication of a new piano at Wesley Church. The Music Ministry proudly presents the 9 2 Bösendorfer concert grand with 92 keys. Its size alone is extraordinary, but the 92 keys make it steps above the anatomy of a modern piano that includes only 88 keys, a standard that has been around for over a hundred years. This piano, however, has four additional keys, a request first made in 1909 when a pianist wished to play the Bach organ works on piano, but the piano couldn t extend the entire compass of the organ range. Bösendorfer is one of the oldest piano manufacturers in the world, established in 1828 and was the official piano maker to the Emperor of Austria. They are known for their darker, richer sound that other pianos don t often have. The tone is derived from a fundamental difference in building. Most piano cases are made of veneers of very dense wood like maple, a feature that isn t conducive to transmitting sound. Bösendorfer chose to build their bodies from solid sections of spruce, a softer wood that resonates sound and allows the full body of the piano to be a sounding board. Another outstanding feature is that Bösendorfer uses three separate strings per note(hammer) rather than one long wire weaved up and down. This aids in tuning stability and better acoustic separation in tone quality. This piano will be a blessing to our church, both in worship and through events held at Wesley. Thank you to every single person who has given so generously to make this happen and to the church leadership for supporting the music ministry so fully that we are able to take such a step as this.
