Saint Paul Church 3251 East 10th Street, Greenville, North Carolina (252) May June 2016 Rev. Arthur Richardson Denning, Lead Pastor You are members of God s very own family, citizens of God s country and you belong in God s household with every other Christian (Ephesians 2:19). We are living in a day when people are more disconnected than any other time in history. I believe God wants us to be connected to Him and to each other. The ministries at Saint Paul Church are designed to connect people in relationship with God and with each other. In this hectic day in which we live, it s easy to get so busy that we neglect the important matters. Too often the cares of this life keep us from developing positive, healthy relationships. God calls us members of His family. The family is designed to be a close relational unit, but how can we say that we are in God s family if we are not connected? Unfortunately, I ve seen many people suffer in times of crisis because they did not have the support that strong relationships can bring. God wants us to be connected with Him and with each other. Here at Saint Paul Church we have many opportunities for everyone to Get Connected. Each of the ministries here at Saint Paul Church focus on helping people develop relationships with God and with each other. The most natural place for people to become connected is in the arena of similar interests. We all have things in which we are interested and these can be a basis for developing happy, healthy relationships. I would like to encourage you to discover an area of ministry and get connected! Sunday Worship at 10:30 AM - Family Ministries Wednesdays at 7:00 PM

Page 3 Saint Paul Church - Page 3 From the Assistant Pastor s Desk Rev. Jerry Taylor, Assistant Pastor Greetings brothers and sisters at Saint Paul, it has been three months since my last letter to you. Hope this letter finds all being blessed and highly favored. There is so much going on with the ministries at the church, that I don t know where to start to sharing, but will give it a shot. Our attendance is close to the 200 mark and growing every week. Pastor on Wednesday nights is teaching on the book of Revelation and if you have missed it, you missed an eye opening experience. We have a new visitor center and monitors in our lobby, which brings a new look to the entrance. We have new name tags for those in certain ministries, and I thought the reason for my tag was, in case I become lost, they can return me to Saint Paul Church, guess not. The list goes on and on, so excited to be a part of what God is doing in these last days. We were able last Saturday to start our visitation into the community and it went really well. Our plans were to do this twice a year, but with the response, we plan to visit neighborhoods on a more frequent schedule. It only takes a few minutes to complete, and with additional help, we will be able to reach larger numbers, with the good news of Christ. We finished off with a lunch at Pizza Inn. All seemed to enjoy, especially AJ. The Mission meal was held here at the church, with over a hundred present. Some of our Missionaries were present and gave great testimonies of God s work around the world. It is a blessing to meet face to face with those who sacrifice so much, for the building of the kingdom. Already, looking forward to next year. Many of them are in great danger, please remember them in prayer. We all know that prayer is a mighty force and can change things. Well, my tremor in my left hand is causing some difficulty being able to dip this feather into the ink. So I will sign off with this. The only job position in the church is that of a servant. Christ set that example by his ministry while here on earth. Let us all humble ourselves, and show our faith, by our works. May God bless and keep each of us until we see his face! Interested in joining the First Touch Team? Please see Rhonda Nord and complete a ministry application.

Saint Paul Church - Page 4 Rev. Richard Williams, Youth Pastor Do we even know what it is to be hungry anymore? We have so much abundance in our country eating is no longer a second thought, it is just making a decision of what we eat that is hard. Most of us eat so often that we never know what hunger is about or feels like. So how do we relate to Matthew 5:6? Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled (Matthew 5:6 NIV). Throughout the day we constantly try to plan out what we are going to eat for our next meal (or at least I do). I don t know if you are like me but, I think about what is it that I have a taste for next? It is easy to be that way with the needs of our flesh, but not so easy for the needs of our spirit. Many times our spirit goes lacking because we do not plan to feed our spiritual body because we are not hungry for it. We need to set our desire on drawing closer to God and then we will become hungry and want to feed our spirit with the Word of God. Then we will start to plan out when we will feed our spirit and what we will feast on. If you don t have a hunger for more of God, examine your life and it may even take some fasting to stop fulfilling the needs of the flesh to draw out a spiritual hunger. Talk to God about it and see what He would have you do to become hungry for more of Him. I want our youth to get their satisfaction from their relationship with our risen Lord and Savior and realize the things of this world can never satisfy the real hunger within them.

Page 5 Saint Paul Church - Page 5 YOU Make a Difference Wendy Campanaro, Children s Pastor While browsing through a children s ministry website I ran across this article and felt it was very inspiring and too good not to share. If you work in children s ministry I hope it will touch your heart as much as it did mine. If you have ever considered working in children s ministry I hope this will be the encouragement you need to take that next step. The following is a small portion of an article that I hope blesses your heart: This Sunday you may be the one who introduces a child to his heavenly father. You could be the one who God allows the privilege of shining the light of his unconditional love into a child s life. You could be the one Jesus works through to bring a child into His kingdom. You could be an eyewitness to the miracle transformation as Jesus gently lifts a tiny broken soul and transforms it into a co-heir with Christ. This Sunday should be a whole lot more than Just another Sunday in Kids Church. Every Sunday and Wednesday, those of us who work in children s ministry are blessed with the opportunity to serve God s kids and teach about Him. The work we do every Sunday and Wednesday is anything but ordinary, and we should approach it with the excitement that lies in the possibility and hope that comes through Jesus. We should approach it in the reverent fear of our creator that we would not abuse or neglect the responsibility that he has graced us with. What will you do this weekend to make sure that it is not Just another Sunday? This Sunday could be the day a child s life changes for eternity!!! (from Ministry - to - Children by Wayne Stocks) It is my hope that we will take this message to heart and serve the children God has blessed us with at Saint Paul Church with a renewed zeal. A very special thank you to all our children s ministry workers who devote their time and energy to touching the young lives God has entrusted to us. You make a difference!!! Dates to Remember: June 7 th : Girls Ministries & Royal Rangers bowling night. Meeting at Saint Paul at 6:15 and returning at 8:15. Falcon Youth Camp: Camps begin on Thursday, June 9 th. Please check the bulletin for the date your age group attends camp.

Saint Paul Church - Page 8 We meet the second Tuesday night of each month in the YouthQuake building. Currently, we are doing a study on prayer, by Max Lucado. We are building stronger marriages by building stronger prayer lives. If you are interested in more information contact Katina Williams at (252) Ann Stocks, Nursery Director Looking for a ministry opportunity? Check out the church nursery! We are looking for nursery caregivers. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed (1 Cor. 15:51). Yes, those words are lifted out of context, and in doing so, provide a humorous take on what happens in the nursery on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights! Nursery caregivers are more than just babysitters they provide a safe and secure environment for our babies so that their parents can feel comfortable and concentrate on the service or work in another ministry. Working in the nursery does not require preparation it requires commitment and presence. The more individuals who share this load, the less it takes individuals away from participating in services and classes. If you feel that you would like to become a ministry caregiver, please complete a ministry application form you may pick one up at the Welcome Center or download from the church website ( Not sure, or have questions? Contact Ann Stocks!

Saint Paul Church - Page 9 Tammy Rawls, Superintendent This fall we will launch our new and improved Sunday School with classes being offered for all ages. This is a great time to study God's Word and disciple the young and/or new in Christ. A few months ago, Pastor Denning and Speight Williams approached me about serving as the new Sunday School Superintendent. I am stepping into this new role with excitement, honor, and joy! I recently asked two of our current Sunday school members to complete the following sentence: To me, Sunday School means The following are their responses: To me, Sunday School means a good opportunity to learn more about God's Word and fellowship with my Christian friends" (Judy Williams). To me, Sunday School means being able to dig deeper in God's Word and hear fresh perspectives" (Ann Stocks). Sunday School is very important to me and my family. I have a desire to share this passion with you and bring life to this ministry. Look for much more information in the upcoming weeks. Please be in prayer for me and as always your help is needed!!!! We will need volunteers to help in all areas so please let me know if you are interested in serving. Lovingly, Tammy Rawls

Saint Paul Church - Page 10 A Man Curtis Nord, Men s Ministries Director The world may define a man as one who is strong and fearless. One who has grit and is unmovable. He knows weaponry and his physical stature intimidates. Is this truly what a man is or is a man something totally different? We know the greatest man to ever walk the earth was Jesus. Although, we cannot be certain what Jesus looked like, we have no image of Him, Isaiah does give us the following hint to Jesus s appearance: He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him (Isaiah 53:2). This tells us that Jesus was not a man who stood out in a crowd. His manly appearance was no more than average. So, since Jesus was the greatest man who ever walked this earth then appearance has nothing to do with being a man. Since appearance does not define a man, does strength? The strongest man I know of was Samson. The tales of his victory over his enemies are well known. Prior to his death Samson discovered that his strength was not his own but was gifted of God therefore we cannot claim that strength makes the man since man s strength belongs to God. I would suggest that nothing a man possesses in himself makes him a man. Maybe being a man has more to do with knowing that we have been given gifts and using what we have been given to benefit and bless others. Maybe being a man is not about ruling over another but about being submissive. Jesus lived His entire life in obedience to the will of God, the Father, and lived in service of others. He gave so that others would be blessed, and He suffered and died that we may have eternal life. Jesus defines what a man truly is. A man seeks after God and is determined to accomplish His will. A man does not seek his own gain but sacrifices himself for the benefit of another. A man s love is not expressed in mere words but exhibited in his willingness to place others before himself. A man loves his life but gives it up to save others. A man will be true to his word. To define a man we need only to look at Jesus and to be a man, we simply need to follow the example He gave us. The Bible teaches: For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps (1 Peter 2:21). Being a man is not defined in how tall we stand but is defined in how low we are willing to kneel. Whatever we set out to do, we remember it is more important what God does through us than what we do for Him. Join us for our upcoming Men s Ministry meetings on Monday, May 2nd at 7pm and Monday, June 6th at 7pm.

Saint Paul Church - Page 11 Being a good steward requires us to decide what we will do with what God has entrusted to us. Not just in tithes and offerings but in giving time and skills. I read a book one time about a man that had dreamed he died and went to hell. One of his punishments was being asked over and over what did you do with what I gave you. He kept explaining Susie Taylor, Secretary Treasurer that he was a cub scout or a paper boy and the voice kept saying No what did you do with what I gave you. When the man awoke he realized - it was the gifts that God had given him. Singing, teaching skills, money whatever he was blessed with is what God required him to give. It takes all of us to sacrifice in order for the kingdom to be enlarged. I encourage all of us to give in our offerings, tithes, and talents. If we are obedient, our territory will be expanded beyond our dreams and we can sit back and bask in how God proved Himself true. On June 4, 2016, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm we will have a picnic for middle school through college age at the ECU North Campus Recreational Complex ( north_complex/ ). We have reserved the boathouse so we will have the entire area to have a picnic, play games, stand up paddle board, corn hole, kayaks, beach volleyball, or just sit and relax. Pizza and dessert will be provided. We ask everyone to bring a drink. Please see Richard Williams, youth pastor for more information. Rev. Kevin and Lisa Jackson

Saint Paul Church - Page 15 Preparing for Growth! Page 15 During the last part of May through June our Men s Ministries Men-in-Action team will be working on weekends in the children s church, toddler class, and toddler play room. You will notice new paint, new carpet, and light construction. Our goal is to make our children s church and toddler room more inviting while making room for office space. Rooms will be available for ministry on Wednesdays and Sundays. However, there will be evidence of the renovations in progress. We apologize for any inconvenience. The administrative church council believes the new renovations will help our overall endeavor to minister effectively and safely as a church family. M25 outreach ministry exists to network those who reach out to the Matthew 25 people groups. From biker ministries, to feeding the homeless, to visiting those in the hospital, we invite all those who minister to the helpless, hopeless, and hurting to make a connection through Mission: M25. I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me. Then those sheep are going to say, Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you? Then the King will say, I m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me you did it to me (Matthew 25:34-40 Message). There will be an organizational meeting to measure the interest in starting the M25 outreach ministry at Saint Paul Church on Sunday, June 5th following the worship service in the Fellowship Center. M25 is open to all Christians (men and women) and not just bikers. For additional information about the M25 outreach ministry please visit:
