KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER Kensington Temple London City Church PRAYER DIARY & BIBLE READING PLAN JULY - OCTOBER 2016 Special SOUL WINNING Edition And He will cause the rain to come down for you - the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. Joel 2:23-24

2 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER 2016 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER THE CRY OF THE LOST! Although it happened some time ago, I will never forget it. It was a revelation which changed me forever. Quite simply, I heard the cry of the lost. At that time I was especially deeply troubled by the state of our own city London. I was heavily burdened for the lost who have no hope, no joy, no peace. When I travelled on the tube, I could see their burdens etched on their faces their loneliness and fears, their disappointments and hurts. And they didn t know half their problems, for their condition was worse than they imagined. Not only were they lost in life, they were lost forever, unless they were saved by faith in Christ. HOW TO USE THIS PRAYER DIARY THIS PRAYER DIARY IS TO FUEL CONCENTRATED PRAYER AT THREE LEVELS OF OUR CHURCH Personal daily prayer and Bible reading Every day, we will be reading through the Bible together and praying for a particular aspect of our life and ministry. Cell ministry Cell leaders will encourage and monitor the use of this prayer diary in the life of the cell members and also use it for prayer in their cell meetings. WHERE IS HOPE? I was alone with the Lord, under this burden, when I heard the cry of the lost in my spirit! I felt their despair and sensed their hopelessness. They were crying, Where is the hope? Who can help us? I shall never forget the sound of that cry. But even that s not all. Can you imagine the sound of the cry of the eternally lost? Maybe the cry of the utterly hopeless at the final judgement seems too awful to contemplate but it s desperately real. The people around you are really heading for hell unless they repent and believe. Yet how can they turn to God if they don t hear his message? Faith comes from hearing the good news, and you possess that news. How can you keep it to yourself? This Prayer Diary focuses especially on soul winning. We must pray for a Holy Ghost conviction to sweep through our lives and into the lives of the lost. We must have fresh confidence in the gospel that comes through vigorous intercession and loving bold witness. Colin For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Gentile. Romans 1:16 Wednesday evening prayer meetings and KT Prayer Watch 24/7 The prayer diary will be used as fuel for our regular Wednesday prayer meetings and our KT Prayer Watch 24/7. The pages before the prayer diary and the Bible reading plan will highlight some specific areas that I believe we need concentrated prayer for in the coming season. LET US RAISE THE LEVELS OF DEVOTION, PRAYER AND STUDY OF GOD S WORD! THIS IS THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH ALL GOD S PLANS FOR US DEPEND.

4 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER 2016 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER PRAYER FUEL EVANGELISM New Testament evangelism involves: 1. Proclamation preaching, testifying, speaking, proclaiming, debating, announcing and answering questions. 2. Demonstration healing the sick and brokenhearted, releasing the bound, casting out demons, signs, wonders and miracles. 3. Incarnation living God s life among the afflicted and hurting, feeling God s compassion, suffering hardship, and being ready to lose our lives. Matthew 9:35 10:15 is an important passage about evangelism which illustrates most of the important principles. It records Jesus evangelistic ministry in the cities and villages of Galilee, and shows that he taught in the synagogues, heralded the good news among the people, healed the sick, and was moved with tremendous compassion. The needs of the people were so great that Jesus cried to God for more labourers. Then, in partial answer to his cry, he sent his twelve disciples in pairs to evangelise the needy people. He told them, The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Luke 10:2-3 In our praying and our witnessing we must focus on the three aspects of evangelism described above and ask the Lord for more workers to be activated in the harvest field of souls assigned to Kensington Temple London City Church. The reality of hell and the state of the lost is not meant to drive us to despair but to our knees in prayer God is the saviour! As we seek the Lord, with renewed passion, for a harvest of souls, a great work of the Holy Spirit will be done in our own hearts, as well as in the lost souls that we intercede for. REACHING THE LOST! Jesus came specifically to save the lost or that which was lost (apololos is the original Greek word used in the New Testament). Today, we usually think that the word lost means missing or misplaced. The Greek word, however, is much stronger. It comes from the verb apollumi which means to destroy, or to ruin fully, or to spoil totally, or to lose completely. We see this, for example, in Matthew 10:28, 42; Mark 1:24; 9:22; Luke 9:25; 15:4 & John 17:12 Although some versions of the Bible translate apollumi as kill, it really means a loss of well-being rather than a loss of being : it signifies devastation and ruin, not extinction and death. Apollumi is occasionally translated into English as perish, as in John 3:16. This means that we can render this famous verse as, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not be lost but have everlasting life. This shows that reaching the lost is a thoroughly biblical expression; we must recognise, however, the grim seriousness of the state of lostness. The lost have not wandered a few yards astray; they are utterly lost. They are so lost that they are perishing. The Bible tells us that the final state of the lost is an eternity of conscious punishment in hell. Hell is a difficult subject to understand; but it is at least important to note here that Jesus spoke more about hell than heaven, precisely to warn people to avoid it. Today many people find the doctrine of hell unpalatable, and in many ways we have witnessed the modern day disappearance of hell in our pulpits. Yet our duty is to adhere to God s truth, and to compassionately expound the truth about hell to the lost people around us. Although the lost are totally ruined and completely devastated, they still exist: the Son of Man came to save them from hell, and that is his plan.

6 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER 2016 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER JOEL: From wasteland to harvest time RETURN God s people return to him In Joel 2:12-17 God invites his people to return to him in repentance and seek both him and his power to change the spiritual wasteland of their own lives and then that of the nation. God s people return to their priestly ministry and something begins to change. This reminds us of the 50 days that the disciples sought God in the Upper Room for the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost (the feast of harvest). HARVEST Prayer and gospel proclamation brings a Pentecostal harvest to the land In Joel 2:18-32 God hears the cry of his people and his judgement turns to mercy. The wasteland begins to turn into an abundant harvest field through the power of the gospel and the repentant hearts of God s people. We will be praying through Joel in our monthly prayer diary. Praying through the book of Joel for a Pentecostal ingathering of souls! On the day of Pentecost a harvest of three thousand people gave their lives to the Lord (Acts 2). Peter explained to the people that this was a fulfilment of the prophecy of Joel that, in the last days I will pour out my Sprit on all flesh... (Joel 2:28; Acts 2:17). The book of Joel gives us a pattern of how a spiritual wasteland can be transformed by a Pentecostal people into a abundant and fruitful harvest field. JUDGEMENT Britain and Europe - a spiritual wasteland. The book of Joel describes a wasteland of judgement from chapter 1-2 verse11. Not only does the judgement prevent harvest and fruitfulness but locusts are released to devour the harvest blessing remaining from former years. Three times in Romans 1 (vv24, 26 & 28) we see that God s judgement is his giving people over to their own rebellion, no longer intervening with mercy. The worst judgement in the world is when God simply leaves us to our own sinful devices. A subsequent spiral of destruction results from an absence of God. Britain and Europe are largely suffering from this judgement right now.

8 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER 2016 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER PRAYER TEXTS FOR SOUL WINNING THE HARVEST FIELD These were his instructions to them: The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. Luke 10:2 You know the saying, Four months between planting and harvest. But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. John 4:35 My work was to plant the seed in your hearts, and Apollos work was to water it, but it was God, not we, who made the garden grow in your hearts. The person who does the planting or watering isn t very important, but God is important because he is the one who makes things grow. 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 And he said to them, Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Mark 16:15 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:29 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8 Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received! Matthew 10:7-8 SPIRITUAL WARFARE The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4 For God, who said, Let light shine out of darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 I am sending you to the Gentiles to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me. Acts 26:16-18 The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord s favour. Luke 4:18-19 THE SAVING POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me. John 16:8-10 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have? Acts 10:44-47 And God, who knows the heart, testified to them giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us; and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith. Acts 15:8-9 Therefore let the entire house of Israel know with certainty that God has made him both Lord and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified. Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and to the other apostles, Brothers, what should we do? Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:36-37 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16 MIRACLES,SIGNS AND WONDERS Now, Lord, look on their threats and grant that Your servants may speak Your word with great boldness, by stretching out Your hand to heal and that signs and wonders may be performed in the name of Your holy Son Jesus. Acts 4:29-30 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in Mount Zion. Isaiah 8:18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; Mark 16:17 SALT AND LIGHT You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-17

10 EVANGELISM OF 3 Unless we keep evangelism as our primary purpose, the cell groups easily slip into the comfort of Christian fellowship meetings. Evangelism is what sustains any revival movement. That is why we centre all cell group activity on what we call the Evangelism of 3. Prayer triplets are not new, but they are an effective way of involving every single cell member to win people to Christ. We begin by asking cell members to make a list of up to ten people whom they know, meet regularly and can invite to the cell meetings. Then we focus on three people the Holy Spirit shows us on each of these lists. Joining with two or three other people, we begin to pray daily for those on our shortlists. Regular cell meetings will include time for prayer and strategic planning, in order to win these precious people for Christ. The cells then organise their meetings and activities around the goal of reaching their friends with the gospel. Write down up to ten names of people you are in regular contact with in London that don t know Christ and pray for their salvation each day. 10 NAMES 1 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER 2016 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER JULY AUGUST SEPTEMBER If you don t have a full ten ask God to show you new people to befriend. Each month ask the Holy Spirit which three people you should specially reach out to that month and write their names down. Your cell leader will help you in this OCTOBER Don t forget to join our next friendship evangelism course. We can turn even the most fearful believer into a confident witness for Christ!

12 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER 2016 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER KENSINGTON TEMPLE DAILY PRAYER AND BIBLE READING DIARY And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42 A people with a passion can only sustain the fire of the Holy Spirit through the fuel of God s Word, prayer and fellowship. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that is proceeding out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 If you don t eat nutritious food on a daily basis, you will grow weak and ineffective in everything you do. Likewise, if you don t feed on God s Word daily, you will be spiritually weak and unable to cope not only with the call to be a disciple, but even with normal daily challenges. We have included a daily Bible reading plan in this booklet that will take you through the Bible in a year. It is one of the most popular Bible reading plans of all time, devised by the great revivalist Robert Murray M Cheyne. You can also dowload free daily Bible reading apps from YouVersion.com and Biblegateway.com. Start on whatever day you first receive this booklet, so that we can all read the same scripture together each day. If for some reason you miss a day or a few days, just re-join the plan again according to the actual date. Don t try to catch up by skimming through what you have missed. And don t give up be steadfast! Expect God to speak to you during your reading. Use bookmarks in your Bible/Bible apps for ease of daily reference. Encourage one another in this in your cells each week. You will notice how daily prayer sets your mind for victory each day and causes your praying to be mixed with faith and expectation. The prayer diary is meant to be repeated each month right through to the end of October A good way to pray each day is by using the acronym ACTS. ADORATION: Praise God for who he is, proclaim his goodness and pour worship upon him. CONFESSION: Remind yourself of your need for him and reliance on him. Keep short account with God. Ask him to forgive you and make sure you forgive others each day. Don t dwell on this though; get right with God and your fellow man and then move on! THANKSGIVING: Thank God for the things he has done, naming them; thank him in faith for what you believe he will do. SUPPLICATION: Come to God with your needs, the needs of London and the world, and pray for the daily items on the prayer diary. We also strongly advise you to pray in tongues ten minutes a day to build yourself up and gain victory for your day!

Pray for your Evangelism of 3 by name every day and seek the Lord for prophetic insights into their lives, especially today in your prayer. What is God saying to you about them today? Command their spiritual ears to open and hear the gospel. DAY 14: Praying through Joel: Sound the alarm! Read Joel 2:1-2. As we behold and confront a spiritual wasteland we must sound the alarm in our cell meetings, services and prayer meetings. There is no time to delay. Pray for a new and abiding note of urgency to come into the hearts and minds of Kensington Temple people. Salt and light: Pray for all our ministry and cells involved in community and social outreaches across the city. Pray for our New Hope Football training initiative and prison ministry. Pray that we will be increasingly salt and light in our city. Pray for all KT cell members working in social services and in the community. Day 16: Praying through Joel: Return to the Lord Read Joel 2: Despite the judgement of a spiritual wasteland for rebellious Europe/UK, God invites us to change to the current environment of wrath. This comes through a return of his people s hearts towards him rending hearts not garments. God s people can always move a nation through the judgement of God and into his heart of gracious mercy, steadfast love and patience. Let s call on the Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit until he once again intervenes lifting judgement in mercy. Let us begin to expect a great Pentecostal outpouring. Day 17: Salt and light: Pray for the work of Christians and the gospel in the media and the arts. Salt and light: Pray for all Christians that are involved in the giant of sport, for their protection against the enemy and for power to witness and testify about Jesus. Ask the Lord to raise up an army of Christians in sport who will use their gifts to glorify God to the world. Day 19: Proclaiming the gospel: Pray for the London and the World for Christ mission statement of KTLCC, that every KT member and every cell group will have a burning passion for KT overseas mission: to pray, give and go to the nations. Pray for supernatural resources to be released for the ministry at KT. Pray against the lack that is seriously curtailing our missionary activities. Pray for millions of pounds to be released for the gospel work of KT. Day 20: Pray for the Royal Family, the Prime Minister and the Mayor of London. Pray for the British Government and for your local MP and your local councillors. Pray for a political atmosphere conducive to the work of the gospel in Britain today. Day 21: Proclaiming the gospel: Incarnation Pray for power to live God s life among the afflicted and hurting, feeling God s compassion, suffering hardship, and letting our good works shine so that people will glorify our Father in heaven. Pray for all churches and Christian ministries in London. Pray that God will bless the city of London and that the percentage of people born again in our capital would rapidly increase.

18 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER 2016 KT PRAYER DIARY SUMMER Day 22: Praying through Joel: From the Porch to the Altar Read Joel 2:17. We are a royal priesthood. Can you imagine if the priests went on strike in the Old Testament? No more mercy could be expected without a priestly ministry. As priests in London we intercede from the porch (where we behold the needs of the city) to the altar (boldly approaching God s throne of grace). The blood we plead to the Father over London is the blood for Christ shed 2000 years ago and that speaks better things over our lost city and loved ones. Go ahead, exercise your priestly ministry for our city! Day 23: Pray for the church in Europe that it would mature in the faith and multiply in numbers. Pray for a new generation of leaders in the church of Europe to arise that would turn the tide of unbelief and bring forth revival. Pray that God would use KT to help bring revival to London, Europe and the world. Day 24: Proclaiming the gospel: Demonstration. Pray for a Holy Spirit outbreak in KTLCC of healing the sick and brokenhearted, releasing the bound, casting out demons, signs, wonders and miracles. Day 25: Praying through Joel: God mercifully steps in Read Joel 2: What a wonderful passage! What hope can fill our prayers even in the most desperate of times! Rejoice in the passage ask for it to come to pass in our day. If we pray and obey, God will heal the land! The harvest will be full again! Day 26: Soul-winning prayer texts: The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves (Luke 10:2-3). Pray for the persecuted church in Muslim majority nations, that God would protect them and give them room to multiply and freedom to worship. Pray that Muslims in Europe will have an opportunity to properly hear the Good News of Jesus. Day 28: Soul winning prayer texts: You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 13-17). Pray for the light of all KT people to shine brightly in London and the world. Day 29: Reaching the lost: The reality of hell and the state of the lost is not meant to drive us to despair but to our knees in prayer God is able and willing to save! As we seek the Lord, with renewed passion, for a harvest of souls a great work of the Holy Spirit will be done in our own hearts, as well as in the lost souls that we intercede for. Pray that the gates of hell will not prevail against God s saving plan for your Evangelism of 3 people and for London and Britain. Pray for the birth of new cells and cell churches in Kensington Temple London City Church. Pray for the growth of existing cells and churches in our network. Day 30: Praying through Joel: Revival! Read Joel 2: We need another Pentecost send the fire today! Ask the Lord to visit Kensington Temple London City Church with a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit that will in turn have a massive effect on our city, nation and the world! Remember our mission statement: London and the World for Christ! Day 31: Give thanks to God for all he is doing in your life. Give thanks for what he is about to do in you and through you in the next month. Give thanks that the gospel is God s saving power for all who believe. Give thanks that God loves lost souls more than we ever could, and that he died for every one of them! Give thanks to the Holy Spirit for not giving up on us, and also for using us in his great purposes in this day and this hour! Day 27: Reaching the lost: Every soul is precious! The parables of the lost sheep and lost coin (Luke 15:1-10) show us the infinite value of one human soul and the longing that God has for a single lost soul. Jesus died as much for the one as he did for the many pray for a heart that will seek and save the lost wherever they may have wandered.
