2 C o n t e n t s Letter from Executive Director Staff Team Campus Updates Resource Update & Financial Facts Summer Projects Mobilization Update The Samantha Roberts Story & Critical Statistics Dear friends, 3 We are excited to present to you our first ever Campus Outreach Indianapolis Annual Report! In 2002, a small team of staff moved from Kentucky 4 and Arkansas to Indianapolis to begin the ministry. From the beginning, we trusted God to raise 6 up laborers from the campuses of Indiana for the lost world. In 12 years of investing in students on the campus, we have seen God do exceedingly 11 abundantly beyond all could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We started on one campus in 2002, 12 since then we have expanded to five campuses in Indiana, as well as launched new franchises to St Louis and Columbus. Our staff would like to thank you for your generosity and vision to partner with us to reach students at the most pivotal time in their lives. We hope you will rejoice with us on all that God has done 14 and is doing. Below is a timeline that captures much of COI s history. 15 David Burns David Burns, Executive Director CAMPUS OUTREACH INDIANAPOLIS - Historical Timeline and Impact YEAR TOTAL IMPACT PROFESSIONS OF FAITH FALL CONFERENCE New YEAR s CONFERENCE SummER PROjECTS ,487 4,202 2,694 1,771 2 CAMPUS OUTREACH INDIANAPOLIS ANNUAL REPORT 3

Catalytic events like our Super Bowl party and dodgeball tournament were helpful in building relationships and connecting new people with our movement. Also, there were many students who attended our Fall and Spring Conferences for the first time. We host these events to invest our lives and share the gospel with students (1 Thess. 2:7-8). Our team plans weekly meetings where our key leaders bring their friends to be around the body of Christ and hear a message on the gospel. We saw 27 people profess faith in Christ! Andy Stanley says in his leadership podcast that, New things always create momentum. We have seen this to be true at Purdue. We added two new staff to the Purdue team this year - Lucas Eitel and Crystal Clapp. With bringing in new staff, it has brought fresh ideas and momentum to our movement. The staff team meets weekly to pray and strategize on how to more effectively reach students and develop leaders who are currently being discipled. We discipled 26 students this year with the prayer that God would use them to impact Purdue. By May, we had seen 44 students profess Christ! This includes men and women who are apart of the following fraternities and sororities: Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Sigma Kappa, Pi Ka Phi, Phi Psi, ZBT, Delta Tau Delta, Theta Chi, FIJI, Beta, and ATO! It has been encouraging to see the fruit of our labors after the first two years on campus! Our team began the year with only three student leaders who were seeking to be discipled and share their faith. Early fall semester, we had an event called the Hoosier Shootout to meet as many students as possible. Over 100 guys played in this basketball tournament. The next week we had our first weekly meeting (Outside the Hall) and 41 students attended! As a result, God used our three student leaders to multiply, which resulted in hundreds of gospel conversations and 14 students trusting in Christ this year. The Resource Team strives to empower building laborers on the campus for the lost world by administratively serving our staff, students, and supporters. We do this by managing the finances, events, human resources, and marketing of the organization. While we maintain normal operations, we also seek to add new initiatives to better serve the CO vision. This year we launched some exciting new projects. We hosted our first ever New Year s Conference in Louisville, KY, launched a new COI website, trained all our new staff to raise support, as well as many more fruitful initiatives. at New Year s Conference at Hoosier Shootout donors served at First Weekly Meeting New Staff Hired on the Orlando Project New Websites Launched F i n a n c i a l F a c t s raised by COI staff raised by students for summer projects of support raised remains with CO Indy COI received a $20,000 matching grant Class of 2015: OUR SEvEN NEw STAff AT THE COI IgNITE TRAININg Four Gernerations: will CROOks, Jake flagg, KyLE LeffEL, AND MATT CazEE Hoosier shootout: over 100 guys CAME OUT TO COMPETE! The Will CROOks StORy I am from Great Falls, Virginia which is right outside of Washington D.C. I grew up very moral and believed I was a Christian based on my morality in comparison to my peers. When I arrived at IU, I had aspirations to live the typical college life, be successful in academics, and pursue the American Dream. I became friends with Kyle Leffel who shared his testimony with me. I realized I was not a Christian, and put my faith in Christ in November of Since then, I have had a desire to share my faith with my fraternity brothers in Beta Theta Pi, to be around a like-minded community of CO, and to be equipped to know God through life-on-life discipleship. My passion and vision is to know God intimately and help others see that Christ is most satisfying. - Will Crooks, sophomore New Year s ConfereNCe 2014 in Louisville, KY. 7 ORLANDO PROJECT 2015 Cross Cultural Project: SOUTHEAST ASIA Coming back to Purdue, which has one of the biggest international student populations in the nation, I feel I have gained the knowledge and experience necessary to be able to relate to and share with Asian students or students from other cultures. I learned how to share with students from another culture in a way that is familiar to their culture. - Brandon, Purdue University For the rest of my life, I will remember the look on the students faces when I explained grace to them for the first time. They couldn t believe that the Son would sacrifice himself to save us all. The Good News transforms lives! It was a blessing to be able to witness seeds being planted and students investigating what the Word has to say. They tasted the living water and they wanted more! - Shelby, IUPUI This summer, 175 students from Indiana called Orlando home for the summer. The Orlando Project creates a spiritual greenhouse where intense growth can take place over a short period of time. The environment is rich with all the right ingredients to develop students in: godly character, leadership skills, spiritual disciplines, and a heart for the lost world. Imagine the impact that will come from these 175 students who are now equipped to share the gospel and study their Bibles! Join us in praying that they would walk with God passionately for a lifetime. Before coming down to OP, I would read the Bible without understanding what it meant. Now, I know how to study the Bible using a helpful method where I can dig deeper and deeper. I am excited to use this method for the rest of my life. - Jake Flagg, iu This summer I ve learned how essential it is that I be a good follower first and foremost. It is easy to forget that my priority is to sit at the feet of Christ - to be loved by him deeply and taught by him at a personal level. This is the only way I can love, serve, and lead others. - Hunter Hughes, servant leader What is the best way to help a college student grow in world vision? Send them! This summer we sent seven students to two different college campuses in Southeast Asia. With 1.3 billion people, the need is great! Serving as English tutors, these seven students were able learn more about Southeast Asian culture as well as engage the students in some very challenging conversations. Summer In The City began five years ago with the realization that the needs of today s college student are changing. The job market is becoming more competitive and the need for internships and summer classes have increased. Also, many students become Christians the second semester of their freshman year and are not ready to commit to going to the Orlando Project for the summer. So, we created Summer in the City. This summer we had 85 students participate in our 11-week leadership development and spiritual growth opportunity in Indianapolis and Evansville, IN. The students were challenged in many areas, such as: pursuing intimacy with Christ, fighting sin aggressively, cultivating a proper theology of work, and growing in world vision. Summer In The City is a strategic way to develop Christian leaders in the context of the city who will soon graduate and have an impact in our world. Leading a group of women at Summer in the City grew my own love for the Lord. It was awesome to see God work in and through me! - Christine, Purdue 14 - sic group leader 12 CAMPUS OUTREACH INDIANAPOLIS ANNUAL REPORT 13
8 MOBILIzATION EvERY STUDENT SENT What is Mobilization? It is the act of assembling and making troops ready for war. The Bible is clear that we are waging a spiritual war (Ephesian 6:12). Every war has something on the line worth fighting for, we as Christians are fighting for the souls of men and women. Mobilization is the final step in our discipleship process. We want to help position our equipped laborers for lifelong success. This year our theme is Every Student Sent. We strive to mobilize every senior for maximum gospel impact. Over the last 12 years, we have seen students mobilized as laborers in every sphere of life beyond college. ChAD Mary Mobilization Director From Gary, IN to Johannesburg, South Africa The Samantha Roberts STORy I began at IUPUI in the fall of 2006 with much excitement to be at one of the top business schools, as this would be a big part of moving toward my vision of becoming successful. There had not been many examples set before me where I grew up in Gary, Indiana. But God used another student in my classroom to share with me the Good News of Jesus Christ that would radically change not only my heart, but also the vision for the rest of my life. As I walked alongside others in Campus Outreach, growing in my faith, God stirred in me a new vision for my life. Even after going on a summer mission trip in 2009 to South Africa, it never crossed my mind to do ministry overseas, But a few months later, the Lord gave me an overwhelming desire to return to South Africa to reach students on the college campus. It has now been almost Eric Coher, usi 04 Associate Pastor, Faith Bible Church Evansville, in Ralph Diaz, iupui 06 Indianapolis Metro Police Department Far-Eastside Indianapolis Alysse Hogan, isu 14 Teacher Southeast Asia five years and my vision continues to be that God would radically transform the lives of students through the gospel. And as a result, God would raise up laborers to impact the world by multiplying their lives - whether at work, within their families, or in missions. 9 Glorifying God by building laborers on the campus for the lost world I love Campus Outreach. It is radically God-centered and radically in love with college students who need Christ. Like the apostle Paul, Campus Outreach doesn t shrink back from saying the whole counsel of God. But they say it with passion and love. This combination of doctrinal rigor, spiritual passion, and personal warmth makes me glad Campus Outreach is part of our church. It is a growing global movement that I support with joy. To see the Christ-exalting fruit that comes in the conversion and spiritual growth of students through the work of Campus Outreach is deeply satisfying. - John Piper, Founder of Desiring God Ministries P.O.
