Shivers John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: An Indian was walking in downtown New York City alongside a resident friend. As they approached a busy street corner in the center of Manhattan, the Indian seized his friend's arm and whispered, "Wait. I hear a cricket." "Come on!", the city boy sneered, "This is downtown New York how could you possibly hear a cricket?" His friend persisted however, "No seriously, I do!" At last, the Indian insisted they were near and proceeded to follow the sound across the street and toward a small dark corner next to a graffiti covered wall. There, he bent down to a minuscule tuft of grass and pulled out the cricket. "I told, you", he said, "I heard a cricket." Astounded, the New Yorker marveled "How could you have heard that cricket in the middle of all this noise?" "Well", said his foreign friend, "My ears are different from yours. It simply depends on what you're listening to. Here, let me show you what I mean." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a handful of change a couple of quarters, three or four nickels, and a dime and a few pennies. "Now," he said, "watch this." He held the coins waist high and dropped them to the sidewalk. At once, every head within nearly a block turned around and looked in the direction of the Indian. "You see, It all depends on what you're listening to." To what sounds are our ears trained to listen? Are they trained to hear the sound of money, of gossip, of complaining, of worldly things or are they trained to hear the still small voice of the Most High, directing and advising us in the way we should go? Let's ask the Lord to train our ears to hear the things of God today. We need to be listening for His direction in the hustle and bustle of this noisy and influential world or we will surely go astray! John 6:33-35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. Up Coming Events

2 Yearly Reading Plan and Daily Devotion Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. (1 Peter 2:2) If you haven t begun this one year reading program of the New Testament, it is never too late! Come on and jump on board! This plan is designed to help us not only read through the new Testament in a year, but to help us apply God s word to our everyday life and develope a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Father. Since this plan includes only the New Testament, each segment can be read in 5-8 minutes, and will allow you the opportunity to actually study the portion of Scripture you are reading, instead of reading only If you choose to dig deeper, (and hopefully you will!), a minute/day study can increase your knowledge of the Bible as well as your love for the Lord. The goal should not be quantity (how much you read), but quality in what you read, learn and apply. The reading plan is divided into 52 weeks, with readings for each day. Follow these steps in Bible study: Pray - confess sins before you begin; ask for the Holy Spirit's illumination of God's Word Observe - read the text over & over (repetition); take notes, ask questions Study - underline key words and/or phrases. Ask, "What is the passage saying?" Evaluate - cross-reference the text with other portions of Scripture. Find what others have said about the text (commentaries, Bible dictionaries) Meditate - what principle or command can be applied? Is there a promise or basic doctrinal truth to lay hold of? Remember, DO what you have learned. To honor and remember those who have loss the battle with cancer, we will be collectively commemorating them in a special DVD presentation. We will also be celebrating the life of those who are survivors of cancer. We want to encourage you to keep up the good fight of faith. 6 Points to Ponder There is no test of faith so true as the grace of thanksgiving. Are you praising God enough? Are you thanking Him for your actual blessings that are more than can be numbered, and are you daring to praise Him even for those trials which are but blessings in disguise? Moody There is a battle going on for the minds of people. We do need to be alert to the devil's schemes and subtle teachings that masquerade as truth in our society. But the way to resist such mental error is not with emotional diatribes. Instead there needs to be a clear understanding of the Bible's teaching about demonicerror, accompanied by a committed submission to the commands of scripture. - Gary R. 7 Verse of the Month Matthew 13:23 Where s the Fruit? Matthew 13:23 But he who received seed on the good soil is he who hears the word, and understandes it; who indeeds bears fruit and brings forth: some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. If you keep a grain of wheat in your pocket, it will look exactly the same ten years from now. But place it in the right environment some good ground, enough water it will sprout into a living sheaf of grain! It's no different with the seeds of the fruit of the Spirit in our hearts! God has readily made available to us the seeds of success. He gives us the opportunity to live a life of much fruit! A life For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. abounding in the fruits of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith and selfcontrol. But here they are just seeds sitting in our pocket waiting 'til we decide to plant them and allow them to become trees of plenty in our lives. Is your soil fertile and ready?
