1 Chapter 1 : Faith and Healing - I Am Claiming Healing. Why doesnt God heal me now? We may not understand why God waits to heal, but we can hold onto who He is. The Bible says that God is a perfect Father (Matthew ). Try to imagine what a perfect Father would be like. How do you teach and equip people to do outreach in Redding? How can God choose not to heal someone when He already purchased their healing? Was His blood enough for all sin, or just certain sins? Were the stripes He bore only for certain illnesses, or certain seasons of time? When He bore stripes in His body He made a payment for our miracle. He already decided to heal. There are no deficiencies on His end â neither the covenant is deficient, nor His compassion or promises. All lack is on our end of the equation. For example, Mark 9 when they prayed for the tormented child. They did not have breakthrough. But then, Jesus came and brought healing and deliverance to the child. Jesus Christ is perfect theology â He is the will of God. He is the will of God. How do we fix the problem? Learn from others who see miracles. Have them pray for you. Books will help, if the author has a miracle lifestyle. Do what Jesus told His disciples to do when He addressed the problem â pray and fast not just for a specific problem, but for a lifestyle anointing. Not praying for a miracle gives them no chance for increased faith. That is what hurts faith. When God heals people, give Him thanks and praise. Learn from it so it will happen again. There are other factors involved besides great faith. That is only one element in the equation. Just learn to do your best to be faithful to His gospel, and honor Him for the results. 2 Chapter 2 : What Can You Do When God Won't Heal You? Question: "Why doesn't God heal everyone? Why does God only heal certain people and not everyone who sincerely prays for healing?" Answer: It is not always God's will to heal a person physically. A person may sincerely pray and truly have faith that God can heal, but if it is not God's will to. Jairus came to Jesus on behalf of his sick daughter, and Jesus willingly went with the man. Meanwhile, the little girl died. Jesus was not swayed, though. We focus on ourselves and do everything we can to live pleasure-filled, pain-free lives. We focus on ourselves but God focuses in His greater, eternal kingdom. At the beginning of His ministry, Jesus was in Capernaum. His focus was on bringing people into His eternal kingdom, not simply making them feel better. Jesus does love us and care about us, but we have such short-sighted goals. In other words, the healing was temporary, but those who embraced His kingdom live with Him today. The presence of pain does not negate the presence of His love. Perhaps in His love, He desires to give us something far greater than the physical healing we seek. God grows us through our our pain. We think God should fix things now, but He may choose to use the trials we face to grow us closer to Him. Pain has a way of getting our attention. If we let Him, God will bring us to a greater place. We want relief; but He wants us to receive something greater: His undeniable love and presence. God promises a pain-free eternity. This life is but a moment compared to the life that awaits me with Christ for eternity. So what do we do? Yes, Jesus does heal. God knows what is bestâ He knows just what we needâ and He will always answer out of His love. Rejoice in His love. For a printable version: Page 2

3 Chapter 3 : Why Doesnâ t Prayer Heal Me? Mind & Spirit Why Doesn't God Heal Everyone? Perhaps you are suffering from a sickness right now. You've prayed every healing Bible verse you know, and still, you're left wondering, Why won't God heal me? But I do know that we should pray in the face of illness and death. I squirmed in my chair as I heard the numbers: But as a Christian, I wondered - should "incurable" really be part of my vocabulary? At times I have been tempted to do the same. Yet the witness of scripture is resolute: But answering that question leaves many more unanswered. Nothing is too hard for the Lord, but the Psalmist still cries out in accusation: While in the hospital awaiting a stem cell transplant, I began to read an essay by C. Lewis that states the problem directly: A Problem Without an Answer. On the one hand, Jesus tells us to pray with astonishing confidence that God will answer our petitions: Indeed, Jesus ultimately drank from the cup of suffering that he dreaded. Lewis writes, "It is as if God demanded of us a faith which the Son of God in Gethsemane did not possess, and which if He had possessed it, would have been erroneous. This "medicine" would bring me to the edge of death. In that moment questions about petitionary prayer were painfully real: Would this not be a perfect time to show his mighty and merciful power? Jesus wept for Lazarus, even though Jesus knew that healing would come for him. Will you forget me forever? As Paul understood well, while Christians should not seek suffering for its own sake, we do find ourselves on a cross-shaped path in which we are "sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything" 2 Cor. The God of Jesus Christ has not promised to spare us suffering -- even suffering that seems senseless. But there is a promise. God has promised to be with us, assuring nothing can separate us from his faithful love, not even death. So, pray for those with "incurable" illness -- in both petition and in lament. But we do know that God welcomes our grief and confusion into his presence. And rather than just asking for a "quick fix," we need to join Jesus in praying "thy will be done. He then shook the world with the message of faith and answered prayer. In part of my own personal search as to why there is presently such a great lack of physical healing through prayer, I have put much time into studying people who have been known to be unusually effective in prayers for supernatural healing. Healing does take place in even the most deadly diseases. Lake was a missionary to South Africa from to While there, a horrific bubonic plague broke out. John Lake was caring for the sick and burying the dead. Britain sent a ship of medical supplies and a corps of doctors to him. The doctors asked Lake how he had protected himself from the deadly plague. The doctors were unconvinced, so Lake insisted they do a microscopic experiment on him. Lake showed them that if one of them took bubonic plague foam from the lungs of a dead person and put it under a microscope, the disease cells would still live. It is worth noting here that Scriptures do promise protection from deadly things as long as one is not purposely bringing the harm by foolishness Lk. Lake was not foolishly bringing harm to himself. All believers can minister healing effectively; some have specialized gifts of healing. Jesus never asked Father God to heal anyone, He commanded healing and deliverance. Jesus healed thousands at a time without requiring them to repent or believe first. Great faith is not necessary or the key to receiving divine healing from disease. Our traditions about healing have hindered us from demonstrating the power of God. Unconfessed sins may make people sick but they do not keep them from being healed. Jesus healed them all, regardless of their level of faith, if they wanted to be healed. Jesus taught the disciples to command spirits of infirmity to leave rather than to intercede. We command the healing power of God with impartiality and it flows every time. We are not to judge who is confessed up, in faith and ready to be healed. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is given so that we will minister in the power of God. We are commanded to lay hands on the sick and pray a prayer of faith authority. The commandment to heal the sick is sufficient without a rhema word for each person. Healing sometimes takes time to manifest, while miracles are usually instant. Healing for every illness has already been provided in our salvation by the cross of Christ. The only requirement for a person to receive healing is to want to be healed. God is an equal opportunity healer and is never the cause of a delay of healing. God will reveal any specific keys to divine healing readily, usually as soon as we ask. God never causes illness to teach us a lesson; it is never His will for us to be sick. God is willing to minister healing and creative miracles through any believer. We are to command the power of God without picking and choosing who is worthy. We have authority to cast out even the devils that people think they want to keep. Signs and wonders follow our belief vs. As believers, we cannot increase our healing anointing except by exercising it. Christ, in me, is always instantly available to destroy the works of the devil through me. God will heal through any believer, because it is not about us, but about His goodness. There is no one who is so bad that God will not heal them. The main hindrance to receiving healing is believing that there are hindrances to healing. Because Christ is in me, I already have all the power and anointing that I will need. God has healed me every time that I commanded spirits of infirmity to leave me. God has healed most of the people that I have ministered divine healing to. God never withholds any good thing from me and will heal me every time I ask. God will heal every believer â until He is ready to take them home to Heaven. Returning to sin can enable spirits of infirmity to come back on us. We must exercise our authority, refusing to receive spirits of infirmity back again. Page 4

5 Chapter 5 : Why doesn't God heal me Christian Forums God never withholds any good thing from me and will heal me every time I ask. God will heal every believer â until He is ready to take them home to Heaven. Sickness is the devil's work and Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. Happens to everyone, right? Sharing what is going on in your life is good for you, and this is a key part of what we do in prayer. Prayer is something which should be instinctual for Christians: Prayer is conversation with God, and like all relationships, our relationship with our heavenly father requires communication. In prayer, we speak to God, we present our needs to him, and as our loving father, he listens to us. Furthermore, prayer is an amazing opportunity to grow in trust in God. Through prayer we become closer and more dependent on God, we grow to rely on our conversation with him, and the closer we are to him, the better we are able to hear his voice and discern his will in our lives. Sometimes, prayer seems to be portrayed as the sole and best solution for those suffering from mental illnesses. You must not have a strong enough relationship with God! Things will get better if you just pray more! This shows a real lack of understanding in our culture about mental illnesses. They are real sicknesses. People suffering from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or any of the many, many mental illnesses that afflict us cannot be cured just by growing in their spiritual life. Obviously, prayer is essential to any and every aspect of our lives, but mental illnesses have biological causes and real effects. The brain is the most complex organ of the body, with the potential to malfunction just like any other organ. Just as a disorder of the kidney is not with the exception of miracles cured by prayers, neither is a disorder of the brain healed non-miraculously through increased prayer. Prayer is Not a Contractual Relationship There is no direct correlation between how much you pray and how mentally ill you are. Prayer is conversation with God. It is not a contractual relationship in which there is only give and take; it is a relationship. We should not view prayer as simply a way to get something that we want, but rather as an opportunity to converse with our loving God. A real danger of mental illnesses is the increasing possibility of disconnect from God, a feeling that God is not listening or does not care, and a temptation to stop talking or paying attention to God. Trust in God may not cure your depression, but it will make handling it easier. Faith is not a magic pill that you take once a day and find your symptoms have disappeared â but it is a weapon in which you can utilize. Prayer is Integral to Life Saying that praying more is not the only solution to mental illnesses is not a suggestion of a lack of faith in God, or a disregard for the spiritual aspect of life. When we are sick, God wants us to try to get better. When you break your leg, God wants you to try to the best of your ability to heal. Of course, the suffering that the healing process may cause you should be offered to God, but this does not mean you are called to live with a broken leg. Obviously, prayer should be integrated into every aspect of life. But, prayer is not the only measure one can take in the steps to healing. The attitude of treating prayer as a medicine for a sickness of the brain is an erroneous one, and an attitude of seeking professional help for mental illness is one that should be more cultivated and encouraged. Yarbrough September 1, T he life context of the question is all too familiar. Your will definitely not be misused and you can unsubscribe at any time. In the Bible, Jesus heals many people, and there is no suggestion that they have reached any level of perfection in faith and healing. You are not healed because of who you are, you are healed because of who God is. Let go of your focus on any individual faults you may have. None of them are a barrier to the vastness, the power, and the Glory of God. Continue your journey of faith and healing as you are doing. If there are any barriers to claiming your healing God will bring them to your attention so you can practise forgiveness and healing of yourself or any other involved. At this point, I feel even more discouraged. I want to be well. I thought God loves me period. Gloria, it is normal to feel discouraged when you are claiming your healing and waiting to see results in the world. God really does love you whatever your health. I know it is hard to feel that and this is OK. This is why we have each other to remind ourselves and hold the space for the memory of Love to return. Your testimony of healing I have been housebound and dealing with the symptoms of MS and extreme pain for years. I had lots of time and I was highly motivated to seek God and did. Recently I am relentless in wanting healing. I always have the ability I am searching your site and see the same scriptures for healing I cling to. There is something so simple In that conversation I asked Him "What should I do? My healing must be so close Something to do with your testimony. Angry at God I feel angry. Very angry because I know God has the power to help me. I tell Him, this is how I feel, help me not feel this way Before He withdrew, I asked Him to heal me. He said "not at this moment". Having felt His love, I was ok with that. I felt extreme peace and joy the rest of that day. This happened May 18th,, 3: I try to remember that love when I get angry or am not at peace. Synchronicities and Hearing from God These are small coincidences or things that happen that I can see He did for my sake to show me He is responding. Or I hear Him speak Inside me. Dear Gloria, You are doing so many wonderful things. I relate to so much of your journey of faith and healing. It is so easy when circumstances are difficult or our bodies are in pain to assume that we must be doing something wrong. This is something I need people to say to me, so it is a delight to be able to say it to you. You are not wrong because you are ill! It is so wonderful that you heard God say your healing is near and so wonderful that you share this with us here because it will help you to remember what an achievement this is. How wonderful is that! In my experience all miracles are preceded by such an experience. The circumstances of our lives are just the same, yet we trust in the lord with all our heart Proverbs 3: We understand â if only for a moment â that this peace is more real than any pain we are experiencing. We can shift our focus from wanting things to be different in the world -waiting for healing - to claiming the ever present eternal peace which is the true healing. This is the peace Jesus speaks of when he says: I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. God has not withdrawn. It is always ourselves who withdraw. God is ever present. We can deal with the thoughts in our mind that keep him out. This is exactly what you are doing by asking questions and by engaging in your prayer life and conversations with God. Dear Katherine, God speaks to me and I converse with Him. Conversation with Him is in concepts, not really words, so sometimes they translate into words that overlap in meaning. And He knows I know that, so He got me to smile just now. I was going to tell you about my frustration, anger, self pity, not being healed and God Whomever managed to disarm me with humor. And I sense Him smiling at me now. So now what do I write. Actually, I had never even asked that question until an unfortunate Facebook post made me start thinking about it. There was a meme going around that included a statement about healthcare. Moses prays and God forgives them: And the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, because we have spoken against Jehovah, and against thee; pray unto Jehovah, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. Moses is to hold the serpent up for the congregation to gaze upon. Then the Lord said to Moses, "Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a standard; and it shall come about, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, he will live. And Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on the standard; and it came about, that if a serpent bit any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived. We are to humble ourselves, coming to the realization that personal righteousness and holiness is outside of our capabilities, and look to our God and Father who said: For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Our God did not merely forgive any of us because He is big-hearted enough to forgive us. He redeemed our lives by paying for us, by satisfying the wrath of God against sin. Our God and Father purchased our forgiveness thru the blood of Messiah. The word of God claims that if you have believed this good news, that you have eternal life. And that your life is now required of you to become a servant of righteousness. Not your own righteousness but that of Jesus. Page 7

I would say for the first five to ten years in my wheelchair, it was the major deal in all my prayers, and when it appeared that I would never walk again, I still kept praying for healing; I at least wanted my hands to be healed. One of the worst doctrines in the body of Christ is the belief that God controls everything that happens. That belief will kill you. We have to believe and cooperate with God to receive what He has provided for us, including our own salvation. In fact, Jesus said more people would enter through the broad gate unto destruction than enter through the narrow gate unto life Matt. The same thing is true of healing: Healing is already an accomplished work. People today only receive through faith what has already been accomplished by Jesus thousands of years ago. They think, Who do you think you are? Well, without Jesus, I am nothing John He will never leave me nor forsake me Heb. This is what Peter said when he ministered to the lame man in Acts 3. Please heal this man if it is Your will. Talking and acting like that today will get us kicked out of most churches. After all, who do we think we are? I have prayed for thousands of people in my meetings across the country, and I have yet to see every person healed. I have also put together a special package to help you. Page 8

9 Chapter 9 : God Wants You Well - Andrew Wommack Ministries Why doesn't God always answer our prayers for healing? I've prayed over and over and over again for God to take it away. Why won't God heal me? Becky. I have seen some amazing healings over the past few years no one has been more amazed than me! It is a good question to ask! In the New Testament, we find that Paul was laid up with a serious eye infection in Galatia Galatians 4: He also failed to see his friends Trophimus and Epaphroditus healed in response to his prayers Philippians 2: If you are asking this question, then you are thinking the same way as the men and women of the Bible. God wants to answer you, just as he did them. On the contrary, the gospel-writers tell us consistently that many people glorified God by being healed! Presumably this happened because they persisted in prayer. To state the obvious, we will all eventually die of something! There does come a time when God will only heal us through our resurrection bodies, but our problem is assuming too quickly that it is now. Nine of the twelve disciples. And yet Jesus came along and healed the boy at once. God had wanted to heal him all along, but several factors had prevented him from doing as he wanted. Back in Matthew 8: No, Jesus addresses lack of faith on the part of the believers who prayed for healing. Nor is he saying that they needed to have faith to pray for the sick. They had been praying for the boy - quite a lot, actually. They had failed to grasp the authority of Jesus over the Devil, and were doubting instead of dismissing the sickness. Matthew - himself one of those nine unsuccessful apostles - tells us in Matthew 8: What else were they doing in their highly charged ministry time? Nor can Jesus have meant that they should have fasted whilst ministering. Jesus spent long hours in prayer and fasting before his Father, connecting with him deeply and receiving his Holy Spirit. As a result, he could pray in John Do we do the same? We are on a journey Jesus appears to have healed everyone who came to him. So did the apostles in Jerusalem in Acts 5: I, on the other hand, see only a minority of people healed, but at least I can say it is more now than it was three years ago. Jesus had perfect faith and perfect communion with his Father. The apostles followed hard after his example at the start of Acts. If those apostles could become the miracle-workers of Acts 5, then there is also hope for you and for me. The more we do that, the less we will need to ask this question.
