2 Here is Your Opportunity to Book Renowned Catholic Speaker David Wells for Speaking Engagements and Events in 2020 David Wells is a champion of Catholic education and has led many conferences and faith days in Canada and around the world. He has always been interested to serve exclusively as a speaker and consultant and earlier this year was fortunate enough to make the independent move and establish David Wells Live. This shift provided the opportunity for ACSTA to hire David to work exclusively with its members and the wider Catholic community across Alberta, Northwest Territories and Yukon for a four month period in 2020, February 1 May 31. David will be housed in Edmonton for the contracted period and will be available for a variety of speaking engagements from large groups to working directly in Catholic schools, parishes, and Catholic organizations with leadership, staff and members of the wider Catholic community. ACSTA is accepting bookings for David for February 1 May 31, Event bookings will be considered on an individual basis to minimize travel costs. It is important to note that booking priority will be given to school districts and organizations that book David for multiple days. You can find the fillable Booking Agreement on page 8. This is a tremendous opportunity to further develop our Catholic identity both personally and professionally. David Wells is both a wealth of knowledge and inspiration truly committed to serving the Catholic faith and Catholic educational community. 3 About David Wells David Well s teaching career began in In 1990 he gained an M(Phil) degree from Nottingham University focusing on Effective Methods of Teacher In-service Training. The Master s degree changed his direction. The following years he worked in London for the Catholic Education Service providing in-service training opportunities for staff in Catholic schools. This was followed by two Diocesan roles first as an Education Adviser in the Nottingham diocese and then in 2000, in Exeter as Director of Formation for the Plymouth Diocese. In 2000 he scripted and presented the video series You, Your Children and Their Catholic Faith which sold widely throughout the English speaking Church. He has also published two books The Reluctant Disciple and The Grateful Disciple. David is married to Alison and they have three grown-up children, Sam, Matt and Emily. In his free time he enjoys spending time on the River Exe dodging the river ferries. In 1997, he represented the Bishop s Conference at a meeting in Jacksonville, Florida. This led to other invitations and since then he has spoken at more than 500 conferences worldwide. He is a regular contributor to the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim, California and has spoken at some of the largest teachers events in Canada and appeared on Canadian TV. Page: 3

7 David s Books Reluctant Disciple Daring to Believe In this book of his personal reflections, David helps us to see God in a range of situations that are often funny, sometimes painful, occasionally toe-curlingly embarrassing. Related with characteristically self-deprecating humour, the stories in this volume range from his moving account of visiting war graves in France to the hilarious account of his Mr Bean in a ballet moment in California. The Grateful Disciple Daring to be Loved Following on from his popular first book, The Reluctant Disciple, David Wells offers more thought-provoking and inspirational insights into scripture, based on his own experience.
