1 THE NEW REVISED STANDARD VERSION OF THE BIBLE BY Rowland Wilkinson Page 29 To say, Oh, this is only another version, fails to reveal the dangerous situation. Nothing like this ever happened before in the history of the world. Never before was a nationwide drive for the Bible undertaken by Catholics and Protestants at the same time, as on the week of Sept. 28 to Oct. 5, 1952: the declared aim of Protestants was to sell a million copies of the RSV and to eliminate the King James Bible from English-speaking churches.21 This means that the birth of this new Version is intended to bring about the doom of the King James Bible. This is declared conflict. Therefore the promoters of the RSV are instigators of controversy; the believers in the King James are defenders. 21 Our Parish Confraternity, August, 1952, Washington, D.C.

5 Brother Benjamin G. Wilkinson was, The Dean of theology at WMC, and Professor of Greek and Hebrew at Battle Creek. Note: This document is for the purpose of exposing conspiracy theories. The methods of teaching here described are not limited to Jesuits and are far older than they, else all SDA pastors who use them are Jesuits. These methods are natural to those who know not scripture or who are covering truth See (GC 520.3). Protestants have made their own changes to scripture. Supplied words italicized are no longer, punctuations left, changed meanings changed words. Hence the reason for the warning of Rev. 13:3 WONDERED after to study, adopt the same method or practice, and Rev. 13:14 they should make an Image, to copy another, be like, duplicate. "The vague and fanciful interpretations of Scripture, and the many conflicting theories concerning religious faith, that are found in the Christian world are the work of our great adversary (Devil) to confuse minds so that they shall not discern the truth. And the discord and division which exist among the churches of Christendom are in a great measure due to the prevailing custom of wresting the Scriptures to support a favorite theory. Instead of carefully studying God's word with humility of heart to obtain a knowledge of His will, many seek only to discover something odd or original. {GC 520.3} Para. contents mine! Note what isn't said here? Jesuit, Papal, etc. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God," are the words of our Saviour. Errors in doctrine are multiplying and twining themselves with serpentlike subtlety around the affections of the people. There is not a doctrine of the Bible that has not been denied. The great truths of prophecy, showing our position in the history of the world, have been shorn of their beauty and power by the clergy, who seek to make these allimportant truths dark and incomprehensible. In many cases the children are drifting away from the old landmarks... {5T 330.1} Note that these testimonies were written for and to SDA's. God's Spirit has illuminated every page of Holy Writ, but there are those upon whom it makes little impression, because it is imperfectly understood. When the shaking comes, by the introduction of false theories, these surface readers, anchored nowhere, are like shifting sand. They slide into any position to suit the tenor of their feelings of bitterness.... Daniel and Revelation must be studied, as well as the other prophecies of the Old and New Testaments. Let there be light, yes, light, in your dwellings. For this we need to pray. The Holy Spirit, shining upon the sacred page, will open our understanding, that we may know what is truth.... {TM 112.1} "There are many in this age of the world who act as if they were at liberty to question the words of the Infinite, to review His decisions and statutes, endorsing, revising, reshaping, and annulling at their pleasure." {RH para. 1} Italics Changed.

6 Dan. 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? KJV Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and the trampling underfoot of the Lord s people? NIV Words Changed. Dan. 12:7 "When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed. NIV "when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished" KJV By this subtle change Protestants teach no end to Papal reign, in spite of the time (1260 years) allotted to them, Rev. 17:17 "until the words of God" concerning the 1260 years "should be fulfilled." Thus is now the cover-up of the evil, unfaithful servant, Babylon, Laodicea, Protestants from scripture view and Identification. The Douay-Rheims of 1899 does not show this change: "And when the scattering of the band of the holy people shall be accomplished, all these things shall be finished." Luke 23:43: Punctuation Uncorrected. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. KJV Jesus answered him, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise. NIV Notice the comma (that wasn't invented until well after 1611), isn't moved in the newer better version. Making it contradict both OT and NT texts. Comparing this text to others in the KJV we see that that comma should be placed one word after/later. Verily I say unto thee Today, shalt thou be with me in paradise. It was 3 days before He did rise and the resurrection that happened at His crucifixion these two were not part of. This point will be seen by: He Didn t go to heaven that day, therefore they did not go Matt. 16:21; 17:23; 20:19; 27:64; Acts 10:40; 1Cor. 15:4; Matt. 27:52 John 20:17*; He went to prepare a place for us, therefore we are not there until He comes to take US ALL there, not one at a time, as a group at one future event. This is what Moses and Elijah symbolized of all those that die and those that are living. John 14:2, 3. Protestants have been unwilling in light of these scriptures to move that comma to the correct meaning.

(See Appendix.) Hundreds of years before the Reformation they possessed the Bible in manuscript in their native tongue. They had the truth unadulterated, and this rendered them the special objects of hatred and persecution. They declared the Church of Rome to be the apostate Babylon of the Apocalypse, and at the peril of their lives they stood up to resist her corruptions....by patient, untiring labor, sometimes in the deep, dark caverns of the earth, by the light of torches, the Sacred Scriptures were written out, verse by verse, chapter by chapter. Thus the work went on, the revealed will of God shining out like pure gold; how much brighter, clearer, and more powerful because of the trials undergone for its sake only those could realize who were engaged in the work. Angels from heaven surrounded these faithful workers." Early Writings Death Not Eternal Life In Misery Page 220 Paragraph or 85 Written 1882 "I saw that God had especially guarded the Bible; yet when copies of it were few, learned men had in some instances changed the words, thinking that they were making it more plain, when in reality they were mystifying that which was plain, by causing it to lean to their established views, which were governed by tradition. But I saw that the word of God, as a whole, is a perfect chain, one portion linking into and explaining another. True seekers for truth need not error; for not only is the word of God plain and simple in declaring the way of life, but the Holy Spirit is given as a guide in understanding the way therein revealed." The Great Controversy An Era of Spiritual Darkness Page 56 Paragraph Written 1888 "suggested by the father of lies. Ancient writings were forged by monks.... And a church that had rejected the truth greedily accepted these deceptions. Page 1 of 7

8 EGWTranslations1.rtf 10/28/07 9:40 AM The Great Controversy The Waldenses Page 69 Paragraph 2 Written 1888 "Satan had urged on the papal priests and prelates to bury the word of truth beneath the rubbish of error, heresy, and superstition; but in a most wonderful manner it was preserved uncorrupted through all the ages of darkness. It bore not the stamp of man, but the impress of God. Men have been unwearied in their efforts to obscure the plain, simple meaning of the Scriptures, and to make them contradict their own testimony; but like the ark upon the billowy deep, the word of God outrides the storms that threaten it with destruction. As the mine has rich veins of gold and silver hidden beneath the surface, so that all must dig who would discover its precious stores, so the Holy Scriptures have treasures of truth that are revealed only to the earnest, humble, prayerful seeker. God designed the Bible to be a lessonbook to all mankind, in childhood, youth, and manhood, and to be studied through all time. He gave His word to men as a revelation of Himself. Every new truth discerned is a fresh disclosure of the character of its Author. The study of the Scriptures is the means divinely ordained to bring men into closer connection with their Creator and to give them a clearer knowledge of His will. It is the medium of communication between God and man." Note: It is important to see in the above quotations that Mrs EG White illustrates two streams of Bible. One that God had protected and one that the papacy had corrupted. Note: Prior to 1611 there was a call for a translation free from any roman jesuit influence such as the 1582 and the 1604 catholic version. But the message of the second angel did not reach its complete fulfillment in The churches then experienced a moral fall, in consequence of their refusal of the light of the advent message; but that fall was not complete. As they have continued to reject the special truths for this time they have fallen lower and lower. Not yet, however, can it be said that "Babylon is fallen,... because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." She has not yet made all nations do this." Page 3 of 7

Counsels To Parents And Teachers True Success In Education Page 22 Paragraph 1 Written in? (1897?) "God Hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through the sanctification of the Spirit and the belief of the truth." In this text the two agencies in the salvation of man are revealed,- the divine influence, the strong living faith of those who follow Christ. It is through the sanctification of the Spirit and the belief of the truth, that we become laborers together with God. God waits for the co-operation of His church. He dose not design to add a new element of efficiency to His word; He has done His great work in giving His inspiration to the word. The blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the divine word, are ours. The object of all this provision of heaven is before us; and it depends upon us to lay hold of the promises God has given, and become laborers together with Him." Note: Prior to 1881 there had been numerous calls for a new translation, one that was easier to understand, in the modern english. I believe it's utterances in an entire Bible." "Men should let God take care of His own book, His living oracles, as He has done for ages." Note: Mrs EG White had only a third grade education, she could not read Hebrew or Greek the supposed only inspired texts. Also notice that she is speaking of the english version that God had protected and not of the uninspired version that "learned men had in some instances changed the words""causing it to lean to their established views, which were governed by tradition" Youth Instructor Life of Christ.--No. 2.April 1, 1872 By Ellen G. White. Christ retained a perfect identity of character, although surrounded by unfavorable influences, and placed in every variety of circumstances. Nothing supernatural occurred during the first thirty years of his life at Nazareth which would attract the attention of the people to himself. The apocraphy [apocrypha] of the New Testament attempts to supply the silence of the Scriptures in reference to the early life of Christ, by giving a fancy sketch of his childhood years. These writers relate wonderful incidents and miracles, which characterized his childhood, and distinguished him from other children. They relate fictitious tales, and frivolous miracles, which they say he wrought, attributing to Christ the senseless and needless display of his divine power, and falsifying his character by attributing to him acts of revenge, and deeds of mischief, which were cruel and ridiculous. {YI, April 1, 1872 par. 1} Page 5 of 7

12 EGWTranslations1.rtf 10/28/07 9:40 AM In what marked contrast is the history of Christ, as recorded by the evangelists, which is beautiful in its natural simplicity, with these unmeaning stories, and fictitious tales. They are not at all in harmony with his character. They are more after the order of the novels that are written, which have no foundation in truth; but the characters delineated are of fancy creating. {YI, April 1, 1872 par. 2} 1 Selected Messages The Inspiration of the Prophetic Writers Page 23 Paragraph 1 Letter 22,1889 "Both in the Battle creek tabernacle and in the college the subject of inspiration has been taught, and finite men have taken it upon themselves to say that some things in the Scriptures were inspired and some were not. I was shown that the Lord did not inspire the articles on inspiration published in the Review, neither did He approve their endorsement before our youth in the college. When men venture to criticizes the word of God, they venture on sacred, Holy ground, and had better fear and tremble and hide their wisdom as foolishness. God sets no man to pronounce judgment on His word, selecting some things as inspired an discrediting others as uninspired. The Testimonies have been treated in the same way; but God is not in this." Note: Here is being discussed the version that God had protected. Great Controversy Page 390 Paragraph 2 "Notwithstanding the spiritual darkness and alienation from God that exist in the churches which constitute Babylon, the great body of Christ's true followers are still to be found in their communion. There are many of these who have never seen the special truths for this time. Not a few are dissatisfied with their present condition and are longing for clearer light. They look in vain for the image of Christ in the churches with which they are connected." Note: This is the reason for the call to come out of babylon in Revelation 18:4. I will point you to the fact that EG White understood the translations. She used these translation as all the pioneers did merely as a source, as they also quoted other bible commentators. 36 BIBLE ADVENTISM BY ELDER JAMES WHITE. Sermon Seven. THE JUDGEMENT That the pope was restored, or a new one chosen is admitted. But that he has power to depose kings and put the saints to death now, is denied. Before his dominion was wrested from him, he deposed kings at pleasure for centuries, and silenced heretics by the flame, the rack, the prison, and the sword. This he cannot do now, nor has he been able to do it since The papacy is compelled to tolerate Protestantism. Hear the pope himself on that subject. Here is his letter, dated Sept., 1840, at Rome: ENCYCLICAL LETTER OF OUR MOST HOLY LORD GREGORY XVI., by Divine Providence Pope, to all Patriarchs, Primates, Archbishops, and Bishops. Venerable Brethren, Health and the Apostolic Benediction. You well know, Venerable Brothers, how great are the calamities with which the Catholic church is beset on all sides in this most sorrowful age, and how pitifully she is afflicted.... Indeed, are we not (oh, how shameful!) compelled to see the most crafty enemies of the truth, ranging far and wide with impunity; not only attacking religion with ridicule, the church with contumely, and Catholics with insults and slander, but even entering into cities and towns, establishing schools of error and impiety, publishing in print the poison of their doctrines, skillfully concealed under the deceitful veil of the natural sciences and new discoveries, and even penetrating into the cottages of the poor, traveling through rural districts, and insinuating themselves into familiar acquaintance with the lowest of the people, and with the farmers? Thus they leave no means unattempted, whether by corrupt Bibles in the language of the people, or pestiferous newspapers and other like publications, or caviling conversation, or pretended charity, or, finally, by the gift of money, to allure ignorant people, and especially youth, into their nets, and induce them to desert the Catholic faith. See GC We refer to facts, Venerable Brethren, which not only are known to you, but of which you are witnesses; even you, who, though you mourn, and, as your pastoral duty requires, are by no means silent, are yet compelled to tolerate in your dioceses these aforesaid propagators of heresy and infidelity.... Hence it is easy to conceive the state of anguish into which our soul is plunged day and night, as we, being charged with the superintendence of the whole fold of Jesus Christ, and the care of all the churches, must give account for his sheep to the Divine Prince of Pastors. And we have thought fit, Venerable Brethren, to recall to your minds by our present letter the

37 causes of those troubles which are common to us and you, that you may more attentively consider how important it is to the church, that all holy priests should endeavor, with redoubled zeal, and with united labors, and with every kind of efforts, to repel the attacks of the raging foes of religion, to turn back their weapons, and to forewarn and fortify against the subtle blandishments which they often use. This, as you know, we have been careful to do at every opportunity; nor shall we cease to do it; as we also are not ignorant that you have always done it hitherto, and confidently trust that you will do hereafter with still more earnest zeal. Given at Rome, at St. Mary the Greater, on the 18th of the Kalends of September, of the year 1840, the tenth of our pontificate. GREGORY XVI., Pope. Source Book for Bible Students Review and Herald Publishing Association WASHINGTON, D.C Page Bible, ROMAN CATHOLIC RULES CONCERNING READING OF. 5. Editions of the original text and of the ancient Catholic versions of Holy Scripture, as well as those of the Eastern Church, if published by non-catholics even though apparently edited in a faithful and complete manner, are allowed only to those engaged in theological and Biblical studies, provided also that the dogmas of the Catholic faith are not impunged in the prolegomena or annotations. 6. In the same manner, and under the same conditions, other versions of the Holy Bible, wether in latin or in any other dead language, published by non-catholics, are permitted. CHAPTER III 7. As it has been clearly shown by experience that, if the Holy Bible in the vernacular is generally permitted without any distiction, more harm than utility is thereby caused, owing to human temerity: all versions in the vernacular, even by Catholics, are altogether prohibited, unless approved by the holy see, or published under the vigilant care of the bishops, with

38 annotations taken from the Fathers of the church and learned Catholic writters. 8. All versions of the Holy Bible, in any vernacular language, made by non-catholics are prohibited; and especially those published by the Bible societies, which have been more than once condemned by the Roman Pontiffs, because in them the wise laws of the church concerning the publication of the sacred books are entirely disregagrded. Nevertheless, these versions are permitted to students of theological or biblical science, under the conditions laid down above (No. 5). The Great Encyclical Letters of Pope Leo XIII, pp. 412, 413. New York: Benziger Brothers, copyright Bible, CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA ON CIRCULATION OF, BY BIBLE SOCIEATIES. The attitude of the church toward Bible societies is one of unmistakable oppositionbelieving herself to be divinely appointed coustodian and interpreter of Holy writ, she cannot without turning traitor to herself, approve the distribution of Scripture without note or comment, The fundemental fallacy of private interpretation of the Scriptures is presupposed be the Bible societies. It is the impelling motive of their work. But it would be likewise the violation of one of the first principles of the catholic faith a principle arrived at through observation as well as by revelation the insufficientcy of the Scriptures alone to convey to the general reader a sure knowledge of faith and morals. Consequently, the Council of Trent, in its fourth session, after expressly condemning all interpretations of sacred text which contradict the past and present interpretations of the church, orders all Catholic publications to see to it that their editions of the Bible have the approval of the Bishops. Besides this and other regulations concerning Bible readings in general, we have several acts of the popes directed explicitly against the Bible societies. Perhaps the most notable of these are contained in the Encyclical Ubi Pirmus of Leo XII, dated 5 May, 1824, and Pius IX s Encyclical Qui Pluribus, of 9 November Pius VIII in 1829 and Gregory XVI in 1844, spoke to similar effect. It may be well to give the most striking words on the subject from Leo XII and Pius IX. To quote the former (loc. cit.): You are aware, venerable brothers, that a certain Bible society is impudently spreading throughout the world, which, despising the traditions of the holy Fathers and the decree of the Council of Trent, is endevoring to translate, or rather to pervert, the Scriptures into the venacular of all nations.... It is to be feared that by false interpretation, the gospel of Christ will become the gospel of men, or still worse, the gospel of the devil. The Pope then urges the bishops to adminish theirs flocks that owing to human temerity, more harm than good may come from indisriminate Bible reading. Pius IX says (loc. cit.): There crafty Bible societies, which renew the ancient guile of heritics, cease not to thrust their Bibles upon all men, even the unlearned, their Bibles, which

39 have been translated against the laws of the church, and often contain false explanations of the texts. Thus, the divine traditions, the teaching of the Fathers, and the authority of the Catholic Church are rejected, and every one in his own way interprets the word of the Lord, and distorts their meaning, thereby falling into miserable errors, The Catholic Encyclopedia, Vol. II, art. Bible Societies, p Page 88 Bible, KNOWLEDGE OF, NOT ENCOURAGED BY ROME. It cannot be claimed for the mideval church that she ever encouraged a knowledge of the venacular Scriptures even for her priests. The utmost she did was to tolerate a knowledge of the psalter, or service books, and in the fifteenth century, of the Plenaria, which were made up of paragraphs from the Gospels and Epistles along with legends and popular tales. Increasingly, too, Romanism developed on the lines it still follows, and sacredotalism was casting its baleful shadow all over Europe, a knowledge of the vernacular Scriptures was regarded with suspecion by ecclesiastical authorities. As mutterings of dissatisfactionbegan to be heard among awakening nations, the influence of the Bible was rigghtly felt to be hostile at once to the oppressor and the priest. The Arrested Reformation, Rev. William Muir, M. A., B. D., B. L., pp. 37, 38. London: Morgan and Scott, Bible, THE WESTMINSTER CONFESSION OF FAITH. (1647) ON. VI. The whole counsel of God, concerning all things necessary for his own glory, man s salvation, faith, and life is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may deduced from Scripture, unto which nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of spirit, or traditions of men.
