1 Newsletter 6/30/2017 [Edition 1, Volume 1] Pastors Corner Consider these words as we live as Christ. Paul writes in Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God for the salvation of souls to everyone who believes. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is dynamite, it can literally blow people away. It changed the heart of Paul. He was holding onto his own righteousness until God who is rich in mercy confronted him on the road to Emmaus. The Gospel which is God's free gift of redemption in Jesus Christ changes hearts and lives. It sets us free from the power of sin and death and gives forgiveness life and salvation. Even the Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God for the salvation of souls to everyone who believes! gates of Hell cannot stand against it. God has given us the privilege of sharing this good news with the world. He has placed us near those who need to hear it the most. We are Christ's ambassadors and we have a message of love to share with our world. It is a message that is powerful. It is a message that we have been commissioned to share with the world. May we never be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as we share it with the world that is around us. First Newsletter! Welcome to the first edition of the Mountain View Lutheran Church Newsletter. It is our hope that this newsletter will begin a process to better communicate some of the current and future activities occurring at our parish here at MVLC. If you have ideas for content that you feel should be shared with the members, please pass your ideas through the church office for possible inclusion with the next published newsletter. We are hopeful that this will help to get the word out regarding the wonderful work that God is doing here at MVLC. Please provide your input for future newsletters to the church office by the 25th day of the month for consideration in the next month s edition.
2 SMALL GROUP MININSTRY FOR MVLC Small Group Ministry----What is it and why do it?? First, it is a gathering of 6-10 people on a regular schedule (perhaps once a month) for the purpose of giving God the opportunity to change or enhance your life and a chance to meet the Jesus you know in a safe, predictable environment. Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another---and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Saturday/Sunday worship and Bible Studies are important, BUT is it the most important aspect of your faith walk? What about relationships with fellow members and WITH OTHERS in a Christian Environment? If MVCL viewed spiritual growth as only a process that happen at weekly worship, then what about creating and maintaining healthy relationships within and outside of our church friends. What about "Be devoted to one another" Rom. 12:10; "Love one another" Rom 13:8 and "Serve one another" Gal. 5:13 in our neighborhoods, etc. These are really hard to do if we only look at those in worship and then see others from the back of their heads sitting in a pew. In a Small Group you can help others grow spiritually by getting them to *"do life together". A church as we all know, isn't a building---it is people! Small groups are vital to a healthy church; we all love Saturday/Sunday worship, it re-charges our spiritual battery, but Small Groups concurrently brings us out in a honest, transparent community of those in a close relationship. It is truly an opportunity to be the real you. If there is a time of tears, your group notices and cares; if there is pain, they notice and care; if there is joy, yes, they share that too and with you give thanks to God. Oh, one more thing---no Food in regular Saturday/Sunday worship. In Small Groups, you will always find some beverages and treats too. Now who can refuse that? So watch and learn more in the weeks ahead. Paraphrasing an old slogan "MVLC Needs YOU" in a Small Group. Opportunities are coming for all and is the Holy Spirit nudging you to be a leader in this movement, let us know as we have a special place for you. *STARTING SMALL
3 Head Trustees Report: We are blessed to have a wealth of resource available to us here at Mountain View Lutheran Church. Along with our material resources, comes responsibility to keep and maintain what we have. We have assembled a fun and exciting group of willing and able-bodied men and women and we need your help! The yard-workers meet on Tuesdays at 7am during the summer months. Workers may however assist on any day of the week at their convenience. Many thanks for those who participate or may consider participating in this very important activity to keep our campus beautiful and attractive. - Erich Schoenfeld, Head Trustee SoS Sister's of Strength SOS is an acetic group of women who stand on the Word of God. We claim Eph. 6:10, Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. We meet weekly from September to June in the Youth Building from 9:30 to 11:30AM. We begin with fellowship where we have built special bonds of friendship. We are a band of sister's in Christ who hold each other up in sorrow and in joy. We do a Bible Study each week. In the past we have done studies on specific topics such as Gratitude, Problem Solving, Women of the Bible, and Discipleship. Our study in the fall will be on the Book of Luke. Our studies help us to grow into the women God wants us to be. If you would like to join us, look for our start date in September in the church bulletin or the newsletter.
