School of Ministry, THE POTTER'S HANDS editorial note The Potter's hands. Strong. Skilful. Safe. The Potter's hands made pots which wanted to escape from the fire and so they came out half-baked. The Potter's hands made pots which were used and abused. Thrown about until they were cracked and thrown aside. The Potter's hands made pots which were beautiful, but they were put in corners where they became so dusty that no one could see their beauty anymore. The Potter's hands made pots which contained food, fruits, water, jewellery, oil and wick, wine. All fit for their purpose and they did their jobs well. Isaiah 64:8 (ISV) states : But as for you, O LORD, you are our Father; and we are clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hands. Many, if not most, of the students in this year's class are in transition. Young and old, we are in The Potter's Hands. The very diverse nature of the class means that we will be taking very different paths after Tung Ling. A few may wish to escape from the fire as the Potter burns the dross away. A few may be used and abused. A few may ignore the call and hide in a corner where no one can see the beauty of the Potter's handiwork. We pray that all will be obedient and fulfill the Potter's vision and purpose for us. Isaiah 64:9 continues with the prayer : Don't be angry beyond measure, LORD, and don't remember our iniquity for a season. Please look now, we are all your people. Whatever the future may hold, we leave Tung Ling with the re-assurance that the Potter is good and His heart is kind. No matter what our iniquity, no matter how far we wander, we are all His people. The Potter always stretches out His hands, opens His arms. The Potter has the Father's Heart which ALWAYS welcomes prodigals home. The Potter is our Father. We are all His people. Pass It On Committee First Row (From Left to Right): Tan Kheng Seng, Fu Chee Kim, Cindy Wong, Jon Allan Heng Second Row (From Left to Right): Koh Sian Ann, Robert Iburg, Charlotte Pineda, Josiah Wong

6 Tung Ling Pass It On chairman's message You have done well in choosing to set aside these three months to study His Word and be better equipped to be vessels fit for the Master s use. The Bible says that God is the Potter and we are the clay. When we come to the Potter, we need to surrender all to Him and let Him be our Master. We need to let Him mould us and make us the vessel that He wants us to be. For this to be accomplished, we need to have the "When we come to the Potter, we need to surrender all to Him and let Him be our Master." knowledge of His Word before He can start the process of moulding us. As the potter places a piece of clay on a wheel, he needs water in order to make it pliable and soft enough. Jesus is our Living Water and the Bible tells us that it is His intention to sanctify and cleanse the Church with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish (Eph 5:26-27). The very first step that we have to take, if we really want God to mould

School of Ministry, Congratulations to the graduands of SOM2017! Eu Hong Seng Chairman and shape us into the kind of person He wants us to become, is to spend time in the Word so that we will become pliable and shape-able. Furthermore, the piece of clay needs to be properly centred on the wheel or it will eventually tear apart before the potter can finish the process. In the same way we have to be truly centred in Jesus Christ and to be fully surrendered to Him before God can start to mould and shape us. Once the lump of clay has enough water and is centred on the wheel, then the actual moulding process begins. In like manner, as we allow the Word of God to cleanse us and we relinquish control to the Lord, He begins to move His hands to shape us to be the vessels He desires. God s own hands go down deep into our soul and spirit where the sanctification work needs to done, thus moulding and transforming us into the persons He can use. Thus as the Word and the Spirit bring about total surrender to His will in our lives, He moulds, transforms, and sanctifies us as we walk closely with Him. We will then be able to say along with Isaiah, O LORD, You are our Father, we are the clay, and You our potter; and all of us are the work of Your hands. May we serve Him together with joy and gladness of heart.

8 Tung Ling Pass It On principal's message Isa 64:8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand. (NKJV) I come from a non-christian family. Both my parents and grandparents have no Christian heritage. As a young boy, my father sent me to Bukit Bintang Primary Boys' School in Petaling Jaya (founded by the Brethren Church) where I had my first exposure to the Bible. Even as a young boy, I loved the Scripture classes and Bible stories. I believe that God called me even from my mother's womb. I yielded to God's will for my life and obeyed His calling. In 1974, at the age of 14, I attended a Scripture Union Crusade meeting in Bukit Bintang Secondary Boys' School and it was here I accepted Jesus as my personal Saviour. I went on to study engineering in the University of Malaya and had quite a successful career. In 1981, I was part of the pioneer team that started Full Gospel Tabernacle. It was a small church with only 30 young people. For our second church camp in 1982, I co-wrote our

School of Ministry, Yielded to the Potter's Hands Ng Wah Lok Principal camp song with Pastor Voon Yuen Woh and that song became a very important part of our church. The song defined how we lived and the chorus has a similar theme to what you have chosen for your graduation magazine: Make my life a living sacrifice, the way you want it to be, To serve you with all my heart, Whatever the cost to me Take me, break me, mould me, Lord As the Potter shapes the clay Pleasing you in all I do, Approved in every way. In 1999 at the age of 39, God called me to leave engineering behind to focus on Church ministry. I yielded to God's will for my life and obeyed His calling. Hence I left my engineering career to become a full-time Pastor and Principal of Tung Ling Seminary. If you yield your life to the Father/Potter, He will mould you and make you into a beautiful earthen vessel of honour that He can use for His glory (Is 64:8) Congratulations to SOM As you graduate, remember to yield your lives to your Heavenly Father/Potter who is able to mould you into a beautiful vessel to be used for His glory!

22 Tung Ling Pass It On BRENDAN HO Shah Alam Gospel Centre Tung Ling Bible Seminary has been a very new experience for me. Learning new things and how different churches function. Tung Ling has refreshed me in my walk with God and also opened my eyes to things that I couldn't see before. It also has helped me to learn to be open with other people. I really do enjoy the fellowship here, seeing people support and encouraging one another. MATTHEW LEE Full Gospel Tabernacle, Subang Jaya Throughout the whole course at Tung Ling, I have learned there is much more to the Christian life. The need to live a life carrying my own cross and being obedient to God's will in my life. I've learned that rather than just read the Word of God, I need to study it and live out the Word of God. There is always something to learn each time when we read the Word of God and it imparts something into our lives. I've also made new friends from different churches and age groups throughout the whole course of Tung Ling. It encourages me that my classmates can be transparent and honest, and will help out each other whenever one of us is in need. Lastly, this Tung Ling course reminds me that I need to continue pursuing God in this life to live my life well. CINDY WONG Faithline International Ministries Tung Ling has been a time of refreshing, rejuvenating and recharging of battery for me. Tung Ling offers more than bible studies - it teaches discipline, creativity and creates an atmosphere of bonding with brothers and sisters from all walks of life. When I started, I thought 3 months of classes would be so long. But now, I look forward to going to classes and would definitely miss my friends at the end of 3 months. I will cherish the friendships built and will internalise God s love, power and authority in my life. What is next after Tung Ling? Well, I will be what God wants me to be, do what God wants me to do and to win God s approval. I will endeavor to do all works (small or big projects) with my best and let God do the rest. I wish many more people will come to Tung Ling to have new discovery of oneself and of God and then, go, go go be the beautiful feet that bring good news to all who so need God s love.

School of Ministry, students' testimonies YONG ZHEN KHENG Community Baptist Church, Petaling Jaya FU CHEE KIM Agape Community Church Isaiah 55:6 Seek the Lord while He may be found, call on Him while He is near. This verse repeatedly came to my mind and I knew I had to act on it.therefore I decided to sign up for the School of Ministry at Tung Ling Seminary. As I was in a transition period, the most challenging thing for me was to rearrange my schedule before pursuing the three-month programme. I am thankful that my husband and two sons have been very supportive, thus making it possible for me to go through this programme with much joy. As I journeyed on, I learnt that God desires me to seek Him and inquire of His ways. Though my ways may seem right in the sight of man, they can be in opposition to God's ways. By studying the scriptures in Tung Ling I am now more equipped in the word of God. I also learnt the importance of knowing God in an intimate way. Thank God for journey mercies as I travelled daily before sunrise and for all the beautiful people I have come to love during these three months. Lastly, I would like to thank the staff of TLS and all my classmates for making this time of learning a memorable one. All glory, honor and praise belong to God. I am ever grateful and so blessed to have been a part of Tung Ling Seminary All the lecturers that come in week in and week out are so resourceful. Their knowledge and experience in the field make it even more powerful as they selflessly equip me and draw me closer to my Father in heaven. Each and every module carries many nuggets of truth, and when you put all of them together it becomes an amazing experience. One of the many things that touch me is that it is not just about head knowledge, but heart knowledge. I am convicted to reach out to the lost. There were many instances of spirit-led encounters during classes. My perspectives were renewed, and my mind was changed; some bondages were broken, and my life will never be the same again because of these encounters with my Father in Heaven. I'm glad to be given the duty rosters because they teach me to serve others. It is also good training to be a good husband! Cleaning the toilet, cleaning the class, cleaning the pantry and the surroundings of the seminary are powerful lessons. And then there is the schedule where I had to lead morning prayers, lead worship and lead a mini session of devotion. The course has been very practical and helpful as I learn from all my other classmates and gear towards a more equipped version of myself. Taking a break to equip myself at Tung Ling Seminary is a remarkable decision inspired by God!

24 Tung Ling Pass It On JASON LEE REN ZHEN White Fields Assembly, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan What s the meaning of Life? No one else can truly answer this question and there is no correct answer. As for me, I can only answer a small part of this question. Tung Ling has taught me Life is about learning and experiencing God s presence in my daily life. It is with God s Grace and Salvation that we can face so much Hardship, Challenges, Bitterness, and Pain in our lives; for all things are possible through Christ Jesus. I should cherish everything in my life for God has blessed me so much even when I m here in TLS. I get to know and meet so many new friends as they have their own story to tell and share about their purpose in life. In the past, I was not serious about learning the Word of God or even praying to God. But even with all this laziness, neglecting and taking advantage of God, He has blessed me so much in my life: with every single detail of my life from my friends to my family members. As I grew up, I began to blossom and grow even more in His kingdom by being more mature in my thinking, laying off computer games, and learning to fellowship with my fellow youth members in my church and by taking up responsibilities in the Youth Committee. With all my bad habits and attitudes, I could accomplish all this only by the Grace of God. Along the way, my broken heart was used by God to prepare me to be His servant by starting off in TLS. I have learned so much about God and the Bible with its many amazing stories. From the first 2 topics about Christian Character Development and Temperaments by Pastor Voon Yuen Woh and Pastor Tan Beng Teong, they were the first two topics that taught me a lot about being a good Christian by developing my attitude and maturity towards God. With God s wisdom and help, I feel like I need to make more effort in serving in church so that we can reach out towards society and our beloved country. I believe in the near future, God will raise me up to the fullness as it is written in 1Peter 5:6 humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time I would like to thank Pastor Wah Lok for giving me this opportunity to study in Tung Ling as it is been helpful and useful for me in building my foundation on God s will. Lastly, I would like to thank sister Chin Yee for her warm hospitality in guiding us and planning the activities for us. JULIET SOH Bethany Church, Bandar Menjalara I have long wanted to know more about God. When two friends from different places and at different times confirmed that this desire to go to Tung Ling was from the Lord, I registered for SOM without further hesitation. The course started on the 6th of March and I moved to the hostel on the 5th. I had to adjust to the new environment and new friends. By the second week, I began to enjoy my time in Tung Ling. My fellow students were very helpful and always ready to give me a helping hand. I thank God that although the schedule was tight, I still managed to find the time to serve in the outreach events of two churches. I always wondered why the Song of Solomon is included in the Bible. After the lectures, I came to understand that the book is talking about the Bridegroom and the bride which is Jesus and the Church. I want to thank all the lecturers who invested their time in teaching us. They were so gracious and patient with all of us. I thank God for a good Principal, Ps Wah Lok. I am also grateful for Chinyee who was always around to encourage me saying 'Juliet, you are doing well'. The staff and the students were able to establish good relationships in a short period of time. My prayer is that God will fulfill His purpose in my life, that I would be the person He wants me to be.

School of Ministry, students' testimonies JOSIAH WONG BEM (SIB) Bright Star, Kuching, Sarawak In 1985, my parents attended Tung Ling Bible School in Singapore. They built strong friendships with their classmates and keep close contact with them. Recently in February 2017, my family travelled to Hong Kong where we were warmly hosted by a friend my parents met in Tung Ling Bible School 32 years ago! My father still says that the 3 months of study in Tung Ling Bible School was one of the greatest moments and experiences in his life. After I completed Form 6 in 2016, I was encouraged by my parents to attend Tung Ling Seminary (TLS). I was reluctant to go at first but after much consideration and reasoning, I decided to complete the application form. I was appointed to be the official photographer. I was worried, fearful and uncertain of what I was about to face in TLS. I even started to doubt my father s claim that these 3 months of study was his greatest moment and his ideal that I would enjoy studying in TLS. After a month into TLS, it turns out my father was right. I too enjoy studying in TLS! I befriended my classmates and hostel roommates. For the first time, I had the opportunity to lead in praise and worship, prayer meeting and even share devotion. Lecturers are very knowledgeable and they have been great blessings for us here. I would like to thank Pastor Ng Wah Lok for the great advice given to me in pursuing the right course in university. I am this magazine s official photographer and initially, I was not as good at taking portraits photos. As my photography skills are put to the test, I am constantly pushed to learn and improve. It is a great privilege to serve our Father in Heaven with the skills and talents He has given me. JONATHAN TAN Faithline International Ministries Tung Ling has been a great experience for me. I have learned a lot in the time spent here. The pastors are very prepared in their lessons. They have various teaching methods which included: "showing various things in the Bible in a detailed manner, challenging the class and sharing about their journey and how God helped them." They gave themselves to the Lord and dedicated their time to teach and do the will of the Lord. I have also made lots of friends here. A few were from Singapore, Australia, Nigeria and the UK. They are very kind and friendly people. I have learned a lot about God and Tung Ling has helped me understand that God always loves me. The experience has taught me the gravity of Christianity and it was eye opening. Tung Ling is a great place and it has been a great experience.

26 Tung Ling Pass It On LOW YIN LING Community Baptist Church You never walk alone In my first week at Tung Ling Seminary, my brother was in an accident. During the third week, my younger sister suffered a miscarriage with the baby she was supposed to deliver in another 3 weeks. From these incidents, I can see there is something trying to stop me from attending this 3 months course and feeling demotivated in doing things. Fortunately, my classmates give so much care to me. They always pray, show concern, encourage me and cheer me up during this down time. A basket of bananas was wonderful surprise gift to me the day after I shared my banana seedling devotion! God will give you a group of friends to walk with you. Walking His Path Attending the school of ministry gives me clarity for the direction of my path. I have a desire, and know there is a calling to the mission field, and it is just the matter of when. Our ultimate goal is not about the mission field. As a Christian, worship is our ultimate goal. Missions exists when worship doesn t. To know Father s heart, to hear Him call His children back to His embrace. As we have been receiving His blessings, knowing the eternal way, we should share the gospel to the lost. He is worthy of it all. MARYANN TAN Full Gospel Tabernacle, Kuala Lumpur It has always been the desire of my heart to be spiritually equipped to serve God better, so it was exciting when I finally had the opportunity to sign up for Tung Ling this year. Even from the first few days of class, God repeatedly reminded me of His faithfulness and how He is a gentle Father yet a great God in whom I can fully trust. It s encouraging that the lecturers not only teach from the Bible and textbook but they also share from their own experiences what they have learnt through the years that they have been serving God. In Tung Ling, I appreciate that we are not only trained in spiritual aspects but are also given daily chores of mopping the floor and cleaning toilets. It is good to have balance, so we are also fed physically with delicious treats during our tea breaks. Although the class comprises people of different ages, from different churches and background, we all love God and can work together as a team. I m truly grateful for these three precious months of spiritual input, fun and laughter as well as the beginning of lifelong friendships. May we continue to yield to the Master to be strengthened, sharpened and sent forth so that His wonderful purposes can be accomplished in us and through us. Amen!

School of Ministry, students' testimonies KOH SIAN ANN Wesley Methodist Church, Singapore "Why don't you go to Tung Ling?" asked my 2 prayer partners who had enjoyed their time in Tung Ling. This question was asked repeatedly over the years. I usually did not reply because they are in their 70s and I did not want to say I didn't want to go to a course for aunties. Long story short, I'm at Tung Ling and find to my horror...pleasant surprise, that I'm actually one of the older aunties here. The class has many young people and even teenagers! I now understand why my friends enjoyed their Tung Ling experience so much. God's presence during morning prayers and worship is strong and sweet. Devotions are highlights as God speaks in unexpected ways through this very diverse group. Learning from lecturers who are veterans being stretched even further have inspired and challenged me to grow deeper in my own walk of faith. What I thought was the process of stripping away was actually healing and the removal of fears, regrets, guilt, shame and other chains. The Promised Land holds great freedom. Again and again, the questions: is God ALONE enough? Do I really want the fullness of His plans for me? Can I trust His grace to supply the love and patience I so obviously lack? Aren't the answers obvious? At Tung Ling, I have seen so many instances of God's hand at work, heard so many testimonies of His faithfulness, I'm now nearer the willing, wholehearted and joyful obedience I have been praying for. Amen. KARINE LOO High Praise Ministries The year arrives that everything falls into place and I am finally able to commit to 3 months at TLSOM. Being a homemaker with children, it s not easy. After the intensive time spent at lectures and completing assignments, I still go home to family and church responsibilities. However, I thank God for His grace in carrying me through this stretch -a struggle, no doubt, but a rewarding one! Why attend TLSOM? In no order of importance, the first was at the near-insistence of my senior pastor who believes in the teaching and training which Tung Ling provides. Now that I am experiencing it for myself, I can understand why. I have also come to comprehend church leadership and ministry in a clearer way. Secondly, I wanted to sharpen my understanding of God, His Word and Ministry, and be better equipped to serve my church. Thirdly, I wanted a season set apart for seeking, hearing and receiving from the Lord, and God has been faithful to make Himself known. The time spent here has been enriching and consolidating. God was in every lecture. Lives were being impacted and transformed every single day. So grateful for the investment of all the lecturers most who, despite busy schedules or golden years, come from afar because they believe in building for the future church. What inspirations! I am also encouraged by the living testimonies of my wonderful classmates and TLS staff. It is no small feat what we ve accomplished here. Only God can count the number of apples in a seed. (R.H. Schuller) May there be much fruit for God from TLSOM seeds. Amen!

28 Tung Ling Pass It On CHARLOTTE PINEDA Full Gospel Tabernacle, UK JON ALLAN HENG Truelight Baptist Church, Penang At 61, I had given up hope of going to Bible school as I know of Pastors retiring at 60. What can I do for God I asked, unaware that actually it s the other way round: what does God want to do with me? Finally, with my wife and loved ones encouragement I came to Tung Ling with the goal of rediscovering my first love for the Lord. I wanted to seek Him, to hear from Him, and to be able to feel His heartbeat. It has been enriching beyond my expectations. My needs were met at every level of my spiritual life. God has opened my eyes and I can see clearly now God s call and purpose for my life. Very often I hear the Grace of Salvation preached but seldom, the Cross and sufferings we are supposed to carry and the rewards that await us at the end (Rom 8:29). Suddenly, there is a totally new perspective to suffering. Now I understand Paul counting it Joy when we encounter trials and tribulations. I know it s not easy but I believe with God s strength, I can face tomorrow s challenges with confidence. I was touched and inspired by Rev. Des Short s teaching of Song of Solomon. I never expected so much of the Song of Songs. He really brought me into the bosom of our Lord Jesus. Rev Des reminded me of the importance of knowing God s Word and letting His Word live through me. Music and worship will never be the same again. Rev. Wah Lok has definitely brought the meaning and value of true worship in church and my personal life to a much deeper understanding. I found the Father s hands reaching out to me when doing the Father Heart of God. My father left us when I was very young and I never had or known a father s love. All these years as a Christian, I had difficulty associating God s love with a real father s love. Often I felt that like my earthly father, He leaves me and He was not there when I needed Him. I could not feel Him or His presence. I kept on asking why? When I needed You, where were You? I tried so hard in life but why are You making it so hard for me? Only now, and with hindsight, it was He that carried me through all the dangers and snares, and by His grace I am here today. I understand now that it was not He that left me but I who left the comfort and protection of this Loving and Caring Heavenly Father. Like the prodigal son, I am home now and He holds me tight in His arms and I can hear Him say welcome home my son. I don t know how much time I have left in this world, but I want to be like Paul the apostle and be able to say, for me to live is Christ, to die is gain. It has always been my desire to go to a Bible school, but choosing the right one proved to be a challenge. When I joined my present church, my pastor recommended Tung Ling Seminary. Do I really need to go to Malaysia, when I can be in my familiar environment? However, after much prayer and research, I was certain that this is the school where the Lord wants me to be. Studying at Tung Ling has definitely deepened my knowledge of God and it was also a time of discovering more about myself that I wouldn't have known if I have not been here. From day one, the Lord has been speaking to me through the lectures of our anointed teachers. I am so blessed to have learned not just knowledge but practical applications on how I can live a life pleasing to the Lord. The SOM 2017 class is full of wonderful people from aged 18 to 68! The 12 weeks of prayer, worship, devotion, tea and lunch breaks have been a great learning time for all of us. We started as classmates but ended up being friends for life. The Lord is good! After here, I will be going back to my more familiar environment but the experience I have in Tung Ling will always remain in me. My prayer is that I will be one of those who would be strong, unable to be moved and will get things done because I have a personal relationship with my God (Daniel 11:32b).

School of Ministry, students' testimonies WONG MENG CHERN Full Gospel Tabernacle, Subang Jaya NICHOLAS LEE Grace Evangelical Free Church, Subang Jaya Looking back as to why I even joined this Tung Ling School of Ministry, I can see it certainly wasn t a decision made by me alone. My dad joined TLS before, thus he recommended me to join. It wasn t his decision to make, but it gave me a kickstart to make the decision to join TLS. Initially, I thought it was just to fill up the extra time I have for God. As I slowly got through this course, I realized God has really opened my eyes to many things. Learning how to manage my sleeping hours certainly wasn t easy, especially since I was working. During the first few weeks, I noticed I was dozing off in class... thanks to my classmates who constantly woke me up. As time passed, I started to have more discipline in sleeping early - an accomplishment for a nightowl like me! I am writing this after midnight. One thing I can say about TLS, it's more than just the bible knowledge that you gain; building up personal character as a Christian is also part of the course and in fact I'm pretty sure that s the main dish of this course. Friends are also what I really gained, although friend is the wrong word to use in this case. Family would be the word. This family of TLS throughout these 12 weeks was certainly very encouraging. Regardless of how bad the day can be, one word of you did great today can make your whole day great. Throughout TLS, my relationship with God grew stronger day by day. Every lecturer comes in with a lecture that opens a part of my brain and each time, it brings me 1 step closer to God Our Father. I have to say, TLS is more than just a school, it s training to be a better person day by day. Tung Ling was never in the initial picture. Earlier this year, I was looking for a job but struggled to land any. So, I began to toy with the idea of committing to the School of Ministry (SOM). For a couple of weeks I was debating, thinking of doing so, if and only if I still couldn t get any offer. I was planning to give God my leftovers. One day, as I was reflecting, I found myself asking what if God was delaying the offers so I could finally commit myself in laying my foundation which I hadn t found the opportunity to do so for years. I was convicted. I decided to honour Him by putting School of Ministry as my top priority, and then work part-time to support myself financially. I remember praying to Him for provision as the journey ahead would be rough. About a week later, I was offered an interview in a relatively huge company. I was ready to reject the offer, so I spoke to the HR department and told them I had a commitment issue. They discussed and decided that they would like to interview me anyway. I went for the interview. There and then, they offered me the contract saying that they had come up with a special arrangement that would allow me to attend SOM while working for them. This is the first time in my life I experienced God s favour on such a scale. I will always remember this God sees and provides.

30 Tung Ling Pass It On MICHELE LAW High Praise Ministries MICHAEL TAM Full Gospel Tabernacle, Sri Damansara As a spiritual infant, it is a leap of faith for me to join Tung Ling. I hesitated a long time as my brain kept calculating the pros and cons, but the cons kept stacking higher and higher. It s not an easy choice for a teenager like me to sacrifice 12 weeks for God. Giving so much of my time, energy and money is a really big deal for me. To find encouragement, I questioned former students about what they learnt. They told me I would learn more about the Bible. On the other hand, my non-religious friend said it s good enough to go to church every Sunday to learn God s Word and to serve in the church regularly. She had a point and it sounded reasonable. When I was about to make my final decision, something deep down within me felt something wasn t right about it. So I decided to join Tung Ling just to prove both of us wrong. When I compared myself with the other students here, I felt like I was not yet prepared to learn about God s Word in greater depth.that s where anxiety and low self-esteem say hi. What if I make mistakes? I don t want to bring disgrace to my church and of course ruin my pastor s image. I worried for nothing. Instead of judging when I made mistakes, my classmates encouraged me and guided me throughout the whole course. I was so blessed with all my humble and amiable friends in Tung Ling. They were always willing to lend a helping hand when I struggled and I enjoyed having lots of insightful conversations with them. The lessons taught here by the lecturers were completely unpredictable. They were able to give us so much content and illustrations even though it was just a simple topic. In Tung Ling, I gained a lot of wisdom from God and I have a greater understanding of the scriptures. I experienced leading worship, prayers and devotions for the first time. We also learnt some other general skills. The worst part is I cleaned the toilets more than anyone else in the class and I deserve a reward for it. Except for this, everything is perfect and I enjoyed every second of it. So, is it wise to join Tung Ling? This is one of the wisest choices that I have ever made in my life and I pray that more Christians without paths like me will find their way to Tung Ling to experience this life changing journey. Although I have been a Christian for 15 years, I felt my knowledge and relationship with God was shallow and superficial. With the encouragement of my friends, I decided to sign up at Tung Ling Seminary. I also wanted to do it before my jubilee year. At Tung Ling, I learned the disciplines and practical ways of the Christian lifestyle. Prayer, journaling, worshipping, praying at night to prepare my heart for the next day were ways I learned to put my lessons into practice. In the first 2 weeks, the need for character development was an eye-opener. From DISC profiling, I saw myself with new eyes and now have new insight into the behaviour of people. From the modules on Song of Solomon, Music & Worship and Father Heart of God, I learned who God is and His love for me. From the other modules, I am now better equipped for the journey ahead. My classmates are a blessing to me as we share our life experiences with each other and encourage each other, especially during exam time. Lecturers share their life experiences and how they walk with God. I am inspired by how God brings them through trials and teach them important lessons in life. Overall, Tung Ling has been a very pleasant experience and I would encourage everyone to come and benefit from it. As I journey on after Tung Ling, I feel better prepared for God to use me in His kingdom. I will continue to increase my Bible knowledge and serve in the church. I now see the need to grow as a life-long process. I thank God for Tung Ling Seminary, Ps Wah Lok, Chinyee, the lecturers and my classmates for having made this time such a wonderful experience.

School of Ministry, students' testimonies ROBERT IBURG Nedlands Uniting Church, Perth, Western Australia Wow!! Going back to school at this age isn t easy, for instance the old grey matter doesn t function as well as it did when I was young. It s been an interesting 3 months here at Tung Ling Seminary. It all started in mid-2016 when I was searching for a college that offered Christ-centred full gospel teaching and training. Collages in Perth offered similar courses to Tung Ling but were conducted by the mainstream churches and out of my affordability range. My wife Grace had heard of this seminary through her cousin in KL, so we went online and researched it and all looked good. We were once again in KL later that year and decided to visit the seminary before committing to it. We were so impressed that we took the registration forms with us back to Perth, completed them and sent them off. The course has had its challenges along the way: rules and regulations, rostering of tasks and duties with various manuals to read and complete, to study, and of course those TESTS!!! I was amazed at the quality of lecturers, all whom I felt had exceptional knowledge in their given subjects. All were unique characters and you felt more like friends than lecturer and pupil. Most notable was Pastor Wah Lok and his famous Ah Beng jokes which were an added bonus. By the end of the fourth week, we were getting to know each other better and were more relaxed and starting to bond. I was thrilled to see the level of care shown by the younger adults towards me due to my disability and they often asked if they could help me out. I d like to extend my personal thanks to all those of class 2017 and also the Tung Ling Seminary staff who made my stay there both memorable and enjoyable, and for the wonderful new friends made there in Malaysia. SANDY YAP Charis Christian Centre, Cheras I am a Christian by conversion. Though I have been attending church service, there are still doubts and questions in my mind. I really enjoy the teaching at Tung Ling School and the journey has empowered me with His words and remind me of how important it is for us as Christians to find rest in Him. Before coming to Tung Ling School, I had suffered emotional wounds which caused a trouble mind that I was not aware of. God is using this time at Tung Ling to bring healing to some emotional wounds of the past. To remind me of how precious I am in His eyes. I have the privilege to call Him Abba Father. That God not only loves me with deep affection, He delights and takes pleasure in me. He wants me to let go the guilt and condemnation and to receive His unconditional forgiveness. There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. Even though sometimes we would walk in the wilderness and go through difficult times. He is for us and not against us. Psalm 37:23-24 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. I would like to give thanks to God at this season to allow me to have the time to develop a love relationship with Him once again. Learning to grow to be more like Him and to lay a strong foundation in His word, to love and care just like Him. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

32 Tung Ling Pass It On TAN KHENG SENG Living Stone Methodist Church, Kota Damansara SUSAN CHEA New Life Community Church, Subang Jaya I came to SOM to refresh myself after recovering from a long bout of illnesses that hindered me from continuing Bible College in I desired to rejuvenate myself by feeding on the Word of God. The delightful experience at SOM was that I received much more than being soundly fed spiritually, it was emotionally and mentally as well. The lectures have impacted me powerfully and I have been changed, revitalised and much restored. I have enjoyed all the lecturers' stories, experiences and practical lessons. Their lives speak so much of the sacrifices they have made to serve Christ and of their love for God, His Word and His Church. Other than the spiritual aspect of learning at SOM, the unexpectedly hilarious Cleaning Duty Roster was invigorating: cleaning the lecture hall and pantry, sweeping the 4 flights of stairs but nothing beats the toilet duties (strategizing how not to drag the hair around while mopping the floor!). Getting up at 6.30am every morning was a long forgotten skill that had to be re-awakened in my life but it was really worth it because I look forward to the morning prayer, worship and devotion! I have learnt much from Pastor Wah Lok on the different ways of preparing devotion and from Chin Yee on prayer. We definitely had a lot of fun and laughter learning from everyone as we journeyed together on sharing our heart-warming life stories. I love the genuineness and the fearlessness and openness in sharing the heartaches, stresses, disappointments, sicknesses, trials and temptations. I am not sure whether it is because of the energy my brain needs to absorb the lectures, but I have been eating much more and feeding on caffeine as well - just to keep me awake so as not to miss anything the lecturers were speaking lest I miss the nuggets of gold! Therefore I have enjoyed tea breaks and lunches together tremendously! Even though at this time of writing we are only halfway through the training, it has been a wondeful fulfilling life-changing experience and I have felt the presence of God in this place. This has been a precious time for me of being revived in my heart, mind and body and I thank God for leading me to SOM! I accepted the Lord into my life in 1977 when I was a student in the UK. By definition, that makes me a Christian for 40 years. Yet, I can count on just one hand, the number of times I ve really felt close to God and truly proclaimed that I am His child. For the other times, I have to admit that I was more doing religion than having a relationship, to the point that I did not even regularly attend a church for years. Yet, over this period, I now realise that God was actually plotting my come back - how God touched my heart with a renewed love for Him. I came to Tung Ling with a desire to refresh my love and trust in Him, and most importantly, to focus and listen to what He desires to do in my life. Being at Tung Ling is like being adopted into a new family - a family of loving people with God as our Father. More significantly, being at Tung Ling has taught me how to love my God all over again. I got to know my God more intimately, I relearned the significance of His love for me, and I re-understood what God truly expects of me as His child. Through all this, I renewed my desire to be obedient to Him and to follow His footsteps. Like clay in the potter s hands, I am willing to be moulded into whatever God wishes me to be. I have had a good career for the past 40+ years and I am now planning my retirement! It is a daunting prospect but I truly believe that God already has plans for me just as He promises in Jeremiah 29:11. My part is to be open and to declare to my God that I am willing and ready to answer His call. I welcome whatever shape and form He chooses to mould me into.

School of Ministry, students' testimonies SASHA BAN High Praise Ministries 'Tung Ling' was never an unfamiliar name to me. I have heard my brothers and sisters in church mentioning it on and off; and those who went were blessed tremendously and had transformed a lot. I never thought that one day I'd be one of them, one of Tung Ling's graduates. At the beginning, I didn't intend to go for any Bible course. I thought I would be like the other teenagers out there, going through 'SPM, college, work'. But somehow, God always prepares something special in our lives. So through the suggestions, advice and encouragement from my mom, elders in church, friends whom I believe were sent by God, I made up my mind to go for it! Unexpectedly, life in Tung Ling is so much fun! I get to know many friends, and we ended up like a big family! The lecturers here are really anointed by God and I learned a lot in class. Now I have a deeper understanding of His heart and His word. Because I know Him more, I know myself better also. Tung Ling is like a platform for me to equip myself so that I can step into the bigger purpose that God has for me. I realize I've grown more mature in my walk with God. Intellectually and also spiritually. I believe what I learned in Tung Ling will really help me in my future. I hope the other brothers and sisters in Christ of mine can also experience what I've experienced here in Tung Ling. A simple "YES" to come to Tung Ling, will really impact and change your life. I thank all the staff in Tung Ling, lecturers and classmates. Because of each and everyone of you, every moment in Tung Ling became so fun and memorable. I don't regret coming here. Thank you Lord for giving me this opportunity! SIMON JOSEPH Sacred Heart Cathedral, Sibu Sarawak I have always believed that God has His plan in all that happens in my life. Actually attending a three month course in Tung Ling is part of that plan. Conducting devotion was a precious experience as every one cheered and helped each other. We supported, motivated, gave encouragement to each other throughout the course. For any one out there who is interested in pursuing God, I strongly recommend that you join Tung Ling Seminary as it will draw you closer to God and it will give you unforgettable memories in your life time. Last but not least, I would like to thank each and every each one here, especially the Principal Ps Ng Wah Lok, sister Wong Chin Yee and all the staff of Tung Ling Seminary, who have made this course/ study a very memorable one. May God bless you all.

34 Tung Ling Pass It On THOMAS ANAK SIMON Sacred Heart Cathedral, Sibu Sarawak NICHOLAS TEOH New Life Community Church, Subang Jaya I heard about Tung Ling about 2-3 years ago. Back then, all I knew about Tung Ling was that it is a Bible school and that's about it. To be honest, the reason why I joined Tung Ling was because I had nothing to do after finishing my SPM. The other reason was because I had a lot of doubts and uncertainty involving the Christian life.i have always wondered why does this happen and why does that happen; why do good things happen to bad people and why do bad things happen to good people? Why couldn't God stop this pain and stop all these sufferings? I felt so flustered and confused, and this was certainly pulling me away from God. But when attending Tung Ling, Romans 8:18 came to me and answered all of my 'Why' questions: 'Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later.' And it certainly struck my mind, for I had forgotten that this was one of God's promises to us.the Bible makes it clear that faith in Jesus Christ does not guarantee a good life, but a perfect eternity, and I 100% believe that it is true. Trials and hardships will surely hit us hard, but do not forget that what we have extra is the Lord God Almighty who will be with us. We are not running the race alone, but together with Christ. I was certainly wrong when I thought that Tung Ling was just a Bible school. It is more than 'just a Bible school' and I cannot explain what it feels like or how it feels like, but I felt renewed and refreshed after attended Tung Ling. It was as if I learned to see God in a whole new dimension. I believe it will also change how you see God after you join Tung Ling. The people here are amazing too. I have made a lot of new friends and as days go by our relationship gets stronger together with God. We encourage one another, help one another, and build up one another and are always ready to lend a hand. I will surely be missing them after Tung Ling. I would like to thank all the lecturers and pastors that are willing to arrange their busy schedules to guide and teach us. Also thank you Pastor Wah Lok for your 'Ah Beng jokes', it was one of the best moments in Tung Ling. Thank you sisters Chin Yee and Linda for your unconditional love for us!! Lastly, I would like to thank my church people and my family for supporting me in whatever I do! Although the 3 months in Tung Ling will end, and everything in this world will come to an end, always remember that God's love will be for yesterday, today and forevermore. Before I joined Tung Ling SOM, I had never heard of Tung Ling SOM. My father was the one who heard about Tung Ling and signed up for the course before asking me to join too. So, I asked God "Should I join Tung Ling SOM?" God called me to learn more about Him. So, I signed up with Tung Ling Seminary to learn more about God. In Tung Ling, I have been truly blessed to learn more about God's Word. I have learnt new things in the SOM. A lot of knowledge is imparted by the lecturers who teach us and share their experiences. For example, the subject DISC Profiling by Ps Tan Beng Teong has changed me a lot as I got to know and discover myself regading my profile. I have a bad habit of sleeping late at night. SOM and my friends taught me to sleep early. I see a lot of changes in myself during this period. I am grateful that I have made some friends, have lots of fun, joy and laughter. Together we worship, we pray for each other; supported, cheered, helped and worked together. and leading the devotion was also a special experience for me. I would like to thank my family for their support and for cheering me on all the time. Thanks to Ps. Wah Lok, sister Chin Yee and all the Tung Ling staff for teaching me lessons and for caring. I thank God that He gave me this opportunity to join Tung Ling SOM course and to know Him more and His word better. I encourage all Christians to take this Tung Ling SOM course. I'm sure that you will not regret this course because God wants us to be like His Son and He will lead you. May God bless us all!

School of Ministry, students' testimonies BETTY LIM Full Gospel Tabernacle, Subang Jaya BENJAMIN ONG High Praise Ministries Anxious, worried, unsure and doubtful. Those were the feelings I had a day before I attended Tung Ling. I did not know what to expect so I went there expecting the least but God is great and He blew my mind away. When I forgot all about those disturbing feelings and trusted God, that was when I felt the most peace and solace. I enrolled at Tung Ling because I wanted to put God first; before I start college, the next phase of my life. To see where my faith really lies and discovering God's perfect plan for me. Throughout the entire course, I have been seeing and unveiling different sides of God's personality. It was truly mind opening and life changing. It corrected me of my image of God and really set things straight in my life. God isn't just at church, bible school or at Christian fellowship meetings. He is everywhere and no one can hide from him nor escape His unfailing love. I recommend enrolling at Tung Ling if you have some free time off, unsure of your next step or curious in knowing who is this God who created this vast universe and everything in it. I know you will be blessed by this, I know I am. I would like to end my testimony by saying, God is the potter and we are the clay, His hands are constantly on us. Being in Tung Ling Seminary is a dream come true! At age 16, I decided not to take up Religious Knowledge in Form 5 as I thought memorising verses would take up too much time! This was a decision I have since regretted. Just a week into TLS, I realized I know so little and there is so much to learn. Revelations flow gently through my mind. Please allow me to share mine as follows:- Dear Father in Heaven, You showed me in a dream a vision of steps going upwards as in a staircase and a pair of legs descending. From Pastors in TLS I now know it was an angel descending to give me a message from God. Early the next morning, my internal alarm clock went off and I heard a voice saying get up and pray. My brain told me hey, it is Saturday and I rolled over and slept. The next morning being Sunday, I was at Church for 9.30 am prayer when I had a sudden urge to go forward and pray. I asked to hear God s word and to get an answer to our commitments. When I went back to my seat, a friend came over to fellowship with my sisters and me, all of us in our golden years. And the thought came to my mind: I am very comfortable with elder women being the youngest daughter with 3 elder sisters in my family. It seems like God has answered my prayer: go and serve and care for elder members of the Church especially ladies. Wow! Father, You are the potter I am the clay, so lead me for whatever comes in the future! Amen!

36 Tung Ling Pass It On PRAYER MOVES MOUNTAINS CINDY WONG Faithline International Ministries I believe that all of us have a call from God in life. As for me and my husband, The Lord called us into the business market place 15 years ago, out of our comfort zone in the banking industry. quality suppliers, space in vessel liners to ship containers of goods overseas, timely payment from customers, etc - the list never ends. The good news is the battle belongs to God and the victory is ours! When we were called to do business, we were fearful. We did not have sufficient capital but we had God. We started the business based on God s confirmation and faith to believe that when God calls, God will provide. The business world is our battle field. Daily, we wage war against the principalities of darkness that are constantly at work against businesses belonging to people of God. My husband and I hold these principles in our business:- In the valley lows, I learned to lean on Him who has power [over the universe. [ 1) Jesus is the owner and CEO of our business we are stewards; 2) We work hard and do our best with the abilities that we have; 3) What our hands cannot do, our prayers can - we commit issues to the Lord in prayer for things beyond our control. We do not have contracts with our customers, therefore, we depend solely on customers needs to place orders with us per their requirements. We have to fight constantly for good staff and workers, new customers, new sales orders, Cash flow is a key factor in every business. I cannot recall how many times I cried out to The Lord to open the flood gates of heaven to pour down the cash flow needed to pay month end salaries, bank loans, expenses. And you know what? The Lord has never failed to deliver on His promises! Yes prayer does move mountains! When I do my rounds in my factory, I would declare that Jesus rules, Jesus reigns and that Jesus is in control of our business operations. In business cycles, there are good times (mountain tops) and bad times (valley lows). Of course in good times, we thoroughly enjoy the supernatural blessings and favour from God. In the valley lows however, things can get pretty tough - the pressures from the world can be so intense that it can strike us off from our focus on the promises of God. In the valley lows, I have learned to pray in my war room and to meditate on God s presence and His promises. I have learned to offer sacrifices of praise - Praise is the Power of Heaven! In the valley lows, I learned to lean on Him who has power over the universe. These promises of God have helped me much in my journey of faith with God in business:- 1) Malachi 3:10 (NIV) Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

School of Ministry, featured articles 2) Psalm 50:10 I own the cattle on a thousand hills 3) Hebrews 13:5 I will not leave you nor forsake you 4) Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and and future. Be it on the mountain top or in the valley low, I know for sure that God s steadfast love never ceases and His faithfulness reaches to the sky! Today, I stand to testify God s victory in our business. God has made our products reputable in our industry and in the international market. What does the future hold for us? Well, I do not know, but one thing I know for sure That if God is for us, who can be against us? To God be the glory.

38 Tung Ling Pass It On SECOND CHANCE YONG ZHEN KHENG Community Baptist Church, Petaling Jaya My name is Yong Zhen Kheng (King). I am serving God as a youth pastor, and this is my journey. 1 year old: My mother had a dream where Jesus appeared to her. After that dream, she shared with a church pastor and my entire family converted from Taoism to Christianity. 13 years old: I began to have a burning passion and desire to serve God. But my pastor told me I was not ready to serve Him full-time, so I waited. 16 years old: I had a lung operation. My left lung burst (Haemo-Pneumo-Thorax) and I was rushed to the hospital. The doctors had to operate on me without any pain-killers or sleeping pills. Basically, I had to go through the operation awake and conscious. It was very painful, but God brought me through the operation and I survived. I got out of the hospital within 1 week and continued my studies. But God told me something during my operation, it was a still silent voice that changed my life...and my life was never the same again. 17 years old: I finished SPM and was drafted to National Service (Khidmat Negara). Throughout the 3-month course, God opened many doors for me. Through His guidance, I had favour with the trainers. At the end, I received the "Best Trainee Award" among the entire camp. 18 years old: One week after National Service, I went to Sunway University to enroll for a course that I had interest in, "Diploma in Performing Arts". Initially the program director rejected me and told me that I should go home. But when the program director found out that I had received the "Best Trainee Award" in National Service, she immediately enrolled me into the course and that led me to my Diploma in Performing Arts from Sunway University! 20 years old: Right after my Diploma, I enrolled into Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia for a one year Degree in Film. I attended a film competition called "48 Hour Melbourne Project" where 48 professional teams from all around the world came to Melbourne to create a film within 48 hours. And by the grace of God, among all 48 teams, He gave me the award "Best Sound Design" as I was the sound guy for my film group. 21 years old: I began working in a studio doing postproduction audio for film because of the award. I learnt massively how to edit and shoot films. After about a year, my Senior Pastor approached me and asked if I would like to work full-time for God. He told me that many people had been praying for me over the years and that it was time for me to give it a try. I was overjoyed because I had been waiting for an opportunity to serve God full-time. After much prayers, I began serving and doing administrative work. 22 years old: My church was involved in a charity dinner where we had to raise money for underprivileged children, single mothers and dialysis patients. I created a few videos to raise funds. Together with the charity dinner team, God miraculously raised a total of RM400, years old: I began to serve as a youth pastor intern. Well, how do all these events connect in my time-line thus far? I truly believe God saw it all right from the beginning. God saved my family when I was young. He brought me through my operation and gave me a second chance to live. He gave me back my health and because of that I could Everything had happened by His design [for a purpose! [

God then opened a door for me to obtain my Degree in Film in Melbourne, Australia. While at Melbourne, God gave me the "Best Sound Design" award and because of that award, He used it to pave the way for me to get a job in a film studio in Malaysia. It was there He taught me how to edit films and use many editing software and because of that, when He brought me to work full-time in church, God could use everything I had learnt in my studies, competition and work to raise RM400,000 for people who are not as privileged as we are! Everything had happened by His design for a purpose! By the way, remember me mentioning a still small voice speaking to me during my operation? That still small voice was actually God s voice and these are the exact words that I heard: King, I m giving you a second chance to live and I want you to make full use of it for Me. And that's exactly what I want to do. For I know the plans I have for you, declares thelord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:11-12 (NIV) And here I am now, on my journey to grow as a youth pastor. What's next? Only He knows.

40 Tung Ling Pass It On I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN GOD EARLIER MICHAEL TAM Full Gospel Tabernacle, Sri Damansara I was saved after the youth camp on December Before the camp, I was facing all sorts of difficulties such as relationships and peer pressure, typical teenager crises. God was never in my dictionary due to my successful atheist dad s influence. He would always lecture me with those famous quotes such as there s no free meal in this world or 求人不如求己 (It s better to depend on yourself than on others). Growing up with this philosopher had formed an independence in me. God was never an option for me to seek help from, speaking to air just didn t make any sense. The one who answers it all for the non-believers is the one and only Google. So when I faced problems that it couldn t help me with, I felt hopeless. Due to the lack of evidence and my severe trust issues, I was stubborn and sceptical when the youths introduced me to God. Despite the fact that there was no solid evidence, I decided to believe in God and gave it a shot because I was truly desperate for a messiah that could solve my problems. Besides, there would be no loss to me anyway. Thinking in a rational way, it would definitely help me in my English essays because the youths could prepare long prayers in such little time. Sometimes I even wondered if the prayers were scripted. I might become like them after hanging out with them. After the camp, I became very active in church. I never missed Sunday service or prayer and cell meetings. All this determination was just that so I could find holes in Christianity and prove that it s a waste of time becoming a Christian. What could possibly go wrong? After going to the church for few weeks, I felt envious towards the church members. They are living a life with purpose and were full of joy. Maybe it has to do with the content in the Holy Book. Maybe there are cheat codes for real life in it, that s what I thought. Without realising it, I became more and more serious about it as time flew by. My youth leader sacrificed his precious time to grow me like an infant after every cell or prayer meeting, and I always looked forward to it. He built me up from scratch, teaching me basic knowledge like the concepts of baptism, salvation and sins. I asked a lot of critical and controversial questions to find flaws in the Bible, and he would always be able to disappoint me. Somehow, the answer Jesus or because the bible said so makes so much sense to me. Knowing the fact that I m so behind the other church members gives me the thirst to know more so that I could live a life like them. In the end, I finally gave up everything and surrendered myself to God. I said the sinner s prayer sincerely again in case God did not accept my previous insincere prayer. I was getting more and more impatient as time passed by. So one day I decided to do something daring, test God. I was taught to not do so but hey, I m quite a rebel. I was in a prayer meeting and my cell leader asked me for a prayer request. That was a good opportunity for me to test God so I randomly told him that I wanted to be better at evangelising and he prayed for me about it. Before I went to bed that night, I did my usual quiet time with God with the Our Daily Bread app. For those who don t know it, it provides different devotions about God s Word every day. My jaw dropped when the topic for that specific day was about raising up new believers. You don t have to ace mathematics to calculate the odds for that to happen. It was definitely not some pure coincidence. I immediately kneeled down and prayed for forgiveness in fear for testing God and swore to never do it again. I was petrified, yet felt so alive. From that day onwards, I began to serve my church sincerely with passion and my faith in God grew abundantly. Becoming a serious disciple of God from a so-called Christian is definitely not a bed of roses. It s exhausting but God's blessings will always lift up my burdens and overflow me with His love. I should have known God earlier I made a lot of wrong choices before I met God. One of the huge mistakes was putting education as my first priority although most parents would probably agree with my decision. Because of that, my childhood was not as great as others. Since young I was

School of Ministry, featured articles never great at studying and all the pressure from everyone I know did not help at all. Family, relatives and teachers put a lot of hope on me. The fear of letting them down had burned me up mentally. In order to relieve the stress, I spent my time playing video games to relieve the burdens on my shoulders. Doing something that I m actually good at made me feel proud and satisfied. Little did I know that the satisfaction would never last. I became addicted to it. All my time and energy was wasted in virtual reality, either planting virtual plants or murdering people virtually. And eventually gaming became my first priority, what a twist. God's blessings will always lift up my burdens and overflow me [with His love. When the Form 4 final exam was around the corner, a miracle happened to me and I suddenly had the desire to study. Due to my urge to study, I let a friend who trusted me the most down. Long story short, I focused too much on studying and didn t pay attention to her. She was having [ a really difficult time and she was longing for my presence, but I disappointed her. She couldn t handle it and in the end she dropped the bomb of breaking up on me. It hit me hard like how the atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima. My heart was shattered and I was torn apart. I felt so guilty for being so selfish and ignorant, it left a huge scar in my life. My heart felt empty and the fire inside of me died. I was tired, but I couldn t close my eyes. I had to do intense workouts to shut down my body in order to have a shut eye. For that period of time, my bed was like a time machine to me. Time passed way faster when I wasn t in reality. If I knew God earlier, I m sure I wouldn t have to go through all this torment, sufferings in agony. Through God, He filled the blanks in me and ignites the fire in my heart once again and gave me the strength to move forward from the past and be revived from the dead. To prevent others from experiencing what I had suffered, it encourages me greatly to evangelize and make more disciples so that lost souls could experience the love that God poured into me. If a stubborn mule like me can be saved, I have faith that it s possible for every soul to be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

42 Tung Ling Pass It On BUILDING SPIRITUAL MUSCLES ROBERT IBURG Nedlands Uniting Church, Perth, Western Australia 2016 was a year of searching and looking to God for answers. In February last year, both my hands did not heal from a routine carpaltunnel surgery despite spending eight weeks off work. In May I returned to the specialist to find answers. I was referred back to the neurologist at St John of God Hospital in Perth, who conducted further tests or EMG, which was an unpleasant experience of electric shocks. He confirmed his diagnosis that I had Motor-Neuron Disease. MND as it is commonly known, is an incurable disease with a prognosis of about 1 to 10 years and appears to hit randomly, with no genetic rhyme or reason. The carpaltunnel was a misdiagnosis, it was an early symptom of MND. The news hit us hard. This cannot be happening to me I thought! My wife, Grace and I were in shock and we went through two very dark months, feeling sorry for ourselves and did not understand what was happening to our lives. Why me God? I have lived a healthy and rugged lifestyle and could cycle 100 km with my mates from church; and pulled down large generators to repair. My once fit body was gradually wasting away. Each day was a series of intense muscle twitching and cramps as the I believe that by His stripes I am healed in Isaiah 53:5 [and I Peter 2: 24. disease attacked my nerves. As the nerves packed-up, the fasciculation became apparent where my muscles had been and I dread looking at the mirror. My diaphragm was noticeably affected which made breathing very difficult and a small job around the house would tire me out. I was feeling more helpless at not being able to do anything about it and was getting ever more dependent on my wife as the weeks and months went by. The devil had stolen my health. It was at this point that I remembered [ listening to sermons on healing by Joseph Prince, on Channel 10 television every Sunday in Perth. Grace and I listened to his sermons and started rebuilding our faith. I felt a need to be among spirit-filled Christians who practiced full gospel teaching. In July, we were in Malaysia and visited Grace s cousin church and were blessed by the worship at New Life Community Church. The worship leader that day felt the call to ask for healing. I was ripe and ready for prayers and the laying of hands as I wept and wept. We have been much blessed by the prayer support of various individuals in this spiritfilled church. It was not coincidence that brought various people to our lives. Since then, I have had several instances of people praying over my condition, and I have also learnt that I have the authority to speak to my condition, in Jesus name. I was challenged to come out of my comfort zone in November when I volunteered at Perth-for-Jesus rally,

School of Ministry, as part of their healing ministry. I was amazed that I was used by Jesus for three people; I laid my hands on a lady s bad leg and she was instantly healed, prophesised over an unborn child after praying for the mother, and leading a young homeless boy to the Lord. Grace and I have been hungry to learn more of Jesus s teachings and building our Christian faith in this last year than we have been in our entire life. We are spending more time reading and hearing the word and being around supportive spirit-filled, Christians. I believe that by His stripes I am healed in Isaiah 53:5 and I Peter 2: 24. I believe Jesus s broken body had paid the price for my healing. I claim back my health and my restoration. Each day I wait for the manifestation of healing in my physical body. This is a difficult path with constant spiritual attacks. Attending the School of Ministry at Tung Ling Seminary forms part of my journey in my search for a break-through. These three months at Tung Ling have been rigorous both mentally and physically for me. Every day when I wake up, my body is tired and I have limited energy. I fight fatigue at every level and some days, my From Grace's journal. Back in 1986 I was searching for a spirit-filled life and attended a short course at Tung Ling Bible School in Singapore, before starting my working life as a high school teacher. Last year when my cousin, Jessi mentioned about a Tung Ling Seminary in PJ, I was excited and searched the net. Robert was at that time exploring various bible school and bible courses in Perth, and we were immediately drawn to the interesting entrylevel topics offered in the School of Ministry. I decided then to support Robert in this huge undertaking knowing that he needed more than moral support from me. Robert is a Mr Fix-it. He could fix anything with his hands, from huge generators to the broken zip in my handbag. His once abled body was wasting away, ravaged by this disease, and he cannot fix it. It was difficult watching. Yes, there were many sad days of secret tears, when I cried to the Lord behind the closed door of the pantry in our house or when he was asleep. You brought us together and to grow old together, I reminded God. We were resolute to fight this. This disease has no business featured articles silent thoughts wonder if I can finish this course. Whether I should just chuck it in. I can only rejoice as I remember that we have the authority over the devil through Christ Jesus, and I praise God. I continue to praise God daily as it has been almost a year now and I am still able to drive a car and have reasonable mobility and travel overseas regularly, while others that I know have been wheelchair bound. I firmly believe that God is sustaining me and keeping me. I am excited to learn and be equipped to serve in wherever the Lord leads me. in his body and if doctors cannot cure him, I know Jesus can, just like that! My prayer each day, is we are one day closer to his restoration. With the help of the Holy Spirit within, we wrestle with the thief, who stole his health. Perth-for-Jesus rally was something new to us, being Uniting-church members and Methodists all our lives. I observed Robert s willingness to obey and be trained, and his single-mindedness in counselling the respondents at alter-call, leaving no room for unbelief. I knew then, his heart was ready to serve Jesus. SOM at Tung Ling gave Robert a purpose and a goal that motivated him to get up each morning. It also meant staying in KL, some weeks fending on his own, when I had to remain in Perth to complete the school term, getting up from bed and getting dressed (doing up buttons can take up to 20mins) driving and battling KL traffic each day, dealing with cramps when his fingers seizes up from notes-taking, fighting fatigue from his body twitching, and nodding off from shortness of breath. All these easy tasks that we all take for granted is a huge effort. Rob has remained focused and prayerful as I accompany him each day as an audit student in this course. I have been told, he has been a huge encouragement to his classmates. Life can swing something unexpected in our journey and it seems like God has been preparing us.

50 Tung Ling Pass It On Three Ladies and a House by Charlotte Pineda B eing away from the comfort of your own house for three months is not easy, much less sharing one house with strangers. However, when the three of us prayed together on our first night at Tung Ling house 1, we were no longer strangers. Juliet, Sian Ann, Charlotte...very Western names but very Asian at heart. The Lord in His providence has brought three ladies from different backgrounds, different cultures, different lifestyles but the same faith. It is because of our differences that we have so much to share and it is because of our unity in faith that we have so much to be thankful for. We were fortunate to have our own rooms to ourselves, hence no need to queue for the bathroom. However, no one has the passion for cooking but the stomach always finds a way to feed itself. Food has never been a problem to us, most times it's the abundance of it that worries us. We look forward to just sitting around the dining table and just eating and talking. It's Sian Ann who has the anointing that whenever there's a concern during the conversation, she would always ask us to pray or quote a passage. Juliet, on the other hand is anointed in dessert preparation and I am the blessed recipient of their anointing. This is the advantage of staying in TL house, your classmates/ housemates are there for you after school hours. We cannot underestimate the blessing of fellowship, but there are times that we also want to be on our own. This is why we are blessed to be in TL house 1 as the area is safe and quiet. We can have our prayer walk early in the morning, and even late evening or just sit by the park and have our private time with the Lord. We love TL house. Big lounge, big kitchen, big dining room, big bedroom, big front yard, everything is big here. However, what makes this house special is not the building or the area but how the Lord has brought people into our lives who will bless us, encourage us and challenge us to be better persons. We are grateful to Susan and Chea for morning rides to school, and we cannot ask for a better driver. Many thanks to Pui Kim for going out of her way to drive us back everyday and even brings us for outings and supermarketing in other parts of Subang! Her thoughtfulness has been a great blessing. To all our other classmates who have been generous to us, we cannot thank you enough. Lastly, we want to express our sincerest gratitude to Full Gospel Tabernacle Subang Jaya church for adopting us for three months. This is truly the church we can call home. The Word of God never fails, our three months stay in TL house has indeed worked out for our good - the three strangers who have become friends for life. The Lord is good! Postscript from Juliet and Sian Ann: Charlotte is our "friend in high places". Thanks to her, we were blessed with attendance at FGT cell and prayer meetings as well as surprise outings with her friends. She is also our hardworking gardener. God is good indeed! Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! Psalm 133:1 (ESV)

School of Ministry, tung ling house House No. 8 by Jon Allan Heng W ith 2 chefs Simon and Jason, meal times were times we looked forward to. Simon, the fatherly figure, rules the kitchen but we had wonderful times preparing meals together. Humourous Mike never failed to entertain. Coming from different family backgrounds and denominations, we managed get along very well. Simon and son Thomas from Sibu, Sarawak, Jason from Seremban, Josiah from Kuching, Sarawak, Mike, local boy and myself from Penang. Simon, the second most senior among us is like a father to 4 young adults, doing the marketing, cooking and rounding them up whenever we go out. With many years working abroad he is tough and macho, an up and coming politician in his hometown. Oh, he also has the hidden talent of an opera singer, still untapped. A successful man knows success is not success if you have no successor, so he brought Thomas, his elder son of two boys along. Thomas, the quietest of the 4 young lions, is always cool and calm, yet when he speaks it is always full of wisdom. Josiah, son of a pastor and the official photographer of the class, is only 20, yet carries out his duties with precision and zest. His servanthood attitude is exemplary. Mike is the youngest in the house. He is also the gifted comedian of the class, natural and candid. Just after SPM and spending three months here in Tung Ling, he speaks of his great desire to know the Lord and His will- a young Christian, moving in God s direction. Jason, graduate of a Culinary Institute, handles the kitchen like a pro. No wonder we have seen positive weight count since coming to Tung Ling. Like the other young lions, his love for the Lord and willingness to learn is a hallmark for success. One of the things we enjoyed most was the time we spent sharing our life s experiences especially when Brother Simon shares about his endeavours overseas and his passion for his people back home. His dream is to set up an orphanage for his native people. There is so much to do he said, and that is why he gave up many job opportunities to come to Tung Ling. He is married and has two boys and one daughter. House number 8 is always full of activities: gardening, area cleaning, cooking, baking, praying and worshipping, and of course studying and revising. Our neighbors commented that at last there s life in the house. We managed to befriend the neighbours on all sides. Every Friday after class, we performed area cleaning and we can really tell who are those who do not do housework at home, haha! We are very thankful to the staff of Tung Ling for making our stay here very comfortable, especially Chin Yee. She is a truly remarkable servant of God, and she has blessed us so much. She made sure that everything ticks, and not only in class. Oops, I forgot about Uncle Jonathan, that s me. I originate from Singapore. Married to a beautiful wife from Penang, I now worship with her in her church in Penang. I am the official transport provider. I have come to Tung Ling like most of the students here, to seek after God s heart. I wanted to spend time with God focusing on His purpose and will for me. It's been a very special journey. I believe coming to Tung Ling is God s divine plan, not by accident and like King David, one thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

SOM English 2017 (6 weeks Tuesday to Friday, 6.45 to 10.45pm) We look forward to running the 2nd Module from 1st August to 8th September With 18 students (2nd & 3rd year), we are now recruiting new students to be trained by lecturers who will share their life stories while coaching them to respond to God s call. We are sure it will be a time of joy and encouragement for both lecturers and students to share and discuss in the class.

56 Tung Ling Pass It On SCHOOL OF MINISTRY CHENNAI, INDIA (a missions initiative by Harvest Training Institute, India in collaboration with Evangelical Theological Seminary, Malaysia) It's been 16 years now since April 2001 that Tung Ling Seminary has been involved in training up workers for the harvest fields in India through the School of Ministry (SOM) there as well. SOM in India is headed by Rev. Kalyanakumar and Mrs. Jessie Kumar (both graduates from SOM, Tung Ling Bible College, Singapore in 1988 and 1989 respectively). Rev. Kalyan is also the Guest Principal of Tung Ling Seminary (Tamil Division), that is, Evangelical Theological Seminary and a regular faculty in the SOM (English) in Malaysia. Kalyan and Jessie were also part of the Master Degree programme hosted by Tung Ling Seminary in Malaysia (2008) where they obtained their Masters of Theology degree with the University of Wales. They both share a vast experience and an earnest passion for God's work in India. India, a land of great ministry opportunities has a population of 1.34 billion but the number of evangelical Christians on the overall is less than 3%. Training the nationals is the strategic thing to do to ensure the Gospel reaches every corner of this land. Every year, with the support of TLS/ETS Malaysia, some of the best faculty from overseas are sent to us to train the students. Through these trained students, about 300 plus churches have now been planted. They are sent out to different parts of India (and some even overseas), either as a pioneer missionary or a church planter. To date, almost 900 students have graduated through this partnership, most of them now in full-time ministry, serving in various capacities and a good number of them in church-planting settings. This year, 28 students are enrolled in the 3-month SOM We look forward to these ones graduating in June and going forth, bringing the light of Christ even into the furthest parts of India!

In Memory of MADAM YIP YOKE FONG Psalm 23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.
