1 CO 801B INTEGRATIVE SEMINAR Dr. Pablo Polischuk / Dr. Raymond Pendleton Spring 2016 Tuesdays, 8:00-9:30 A.M. The Integration Seminar focuses upon the diverse angles from which both fields Theology and Psychology render descriptive, analytical and prescriptive aspects as these pertain to the human being. Ontological, epistemological and teleological aspects are considered, as to engage in integrative efforts based upon principles derived from both disciplines. It is hoped that such integrative efforts will constitute the basis for praxis along therapeutic endeavors. The format of the course emphasizes lecture presentations and interactive discussions. These lectures and active dialogues around the issue of integration of Biblical, theological, and psychological thought, regarded as being the heart of the MACO Program at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. The course focuses on three main topics, outlined in the following format: I. This is not a formal research paper but is instead based upon the materials presented in class, selected readings and student s personal reflections. Nevertheless, the student needs to cite references supporting the assertions made in the narrative content of the assignment. The length of the paper is 5-7 pages plus bibliography; written in APA style. READING: Each faculty presenter will suggest several pertinent references, which will assist the student reflecting on the subjects presented. Students are expected to read materials related to the topics presented in the lectures. A reading log should be kept showing the books read and the cumulative number of pages. Since this a one-half credit course, the reading requirement is 1000 pages. Books suggested by each lecturer are, whenever possible, available on reserve shelves. Students should pay particular attention to reading in areas with which they have less familiarity. ASSESSMENT:
3 Each of three papers represents 30%, and the Reading Log 10% of the final grade. CONTACT: Dr. Polischuk is the instructor for this semester. He may be contacted at or at His Byington fellow is Jessi Joo, and she may be contacted at
