1 December 9, :30am Service Large Print Bulletin Welcome to Elk River Lutheran Church! We are a forward-thinking congregation, striving to create community that brings joy and hope. Worshipping together since December 2009, we believe that all people are welcome in the Lord s house, to hear the Word, share the Sacraments, and become strengthened for the life of faith. We are a child friendly congregation and welcome kids with their wiggles and noises in worship. We are also aware that as a parent, time away from wiggles and noises can be a blessing too. You will find our staffed nursery (For children 5 and under) in the far corner of the fellowship hall. We encourage everyone to take a moment to sign the worship registration slip and place it in the offering plate. We hope and pray you have a wonderful worship experience here today and invite you to join us again.

4 Let us confess our sins with confidence in God s promise of forgiveness. God, wonderful counselor, we confess that we have turned from your gifts and chosen our own way. Remember not our sins; remember us with your steadfast love. Show us your ways; teach us to walk in your light; and lead us in justice and truth, for the sake of your goodness in Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen. Children of God, come with joy and draw water from the well of salvation. Remember the gift of baptism: your sin is washed away in the name of Jesus; you belong to Christ; you are anointed to serve. If the Assyrians come into our land and tread upon our soil, we will raise against them seven shepherds and eight installed as rulers. Reading: 1 Samuel 16: The LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you grieve over Saul? I have rejected him from being king over Israel. If Saul hears of it, he will kill me." 9 DEDICATION OF LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF QUILTS AND BACKPACKS Let us pray. O Lord our God, maker of all things, you have blessed us with so many Gifts a good eye for color, the ability to make fine stitches, the skills to develop ever-new and exciting patterns. Now we offer the fruits of our labors, the Quilts we have made, to you. We dedicate these Quilts and Backpacks to your service, trusting that your love will go wherever each Quilt or Backpack is sent, making it more than just a piece of material, a collection of items making each piece we have created an expression of love. There is no way for us to imagine the power and effect an act of love can have on a person s life how you can use something as small as a Quilt or a Backpack to radiate your love from us to the world. May these be used in your service and become blessings for all those who receive them. Lord, we know that all we possess comes from your loving hand. Give us grace to honor you with all of our being: draw our hearts to you, guide our minds, fill our imaginations, control our wills, so that we may be wholly yours. Use us as you will, always to your glory and the welfare of your people. Amen. BIDDING PRAYER
