And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Our hearts ought to be delighting in our gracious LORD Jesus, the ONE Who died for our sins that they can be forgiven. Grateful hearts look for things to do to show our appreciation for the Unspeakable Gift which the LORD has prepared for all that will trust in the Saviour. This passage shows one such way we can demonstrate our love to the LORD, and that is by doing all we can to bring sinners to the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, we preach the Gospel and the Holy Ghost convinces the hearers that they are sinners, and that there is a divine remedy for their condition. Ask the LORD to lead you to how HE can use you to compel the lost to come to Christ. Amen. October has been one of busiest months this year. There were only a few days that we did not have at least one ship in port. I shall tell you a few opportunities which I had to point some of the wandering seamen to the Saviour. The first vessel I want to tell you about is named the Cape Lilly. In the photo I have printed, I want you take note of two men. The second from the left is the Captain and his name is Adrian. This man is not saved, but he hungers to know more about the Lord Jesus Christ. He told me that he gives a devotional over the ship s P.A. system for the men s spiritual need. I was once a lost Lutheran and taught Sunday school, as well as witnessed to other lost people telling them they needed to go to church and learn about Jesus. There is hope for Adrian to be saved. The second man I want you to note is the third man from the left. This man is the 2 nd Engineer and his name is Rico. It has been a long time since I have had such a wide-open opportunity to give the Gospel to such an open heart. Please pray for these men to be saved. The next vessel I shall tell you about is the AM Express. As you can see, the photo is of 10 Chinese seamen. The fellow standing next to me is the 2 nd Mate and he was the most open Chinese seaman I have had in years. His name is Guo Y. Jia. This man stuck to me like my shadow. It seems he had a thousand questions concerning his soul and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All the men in this photo wanted to have a full Bible and I gladly gave each man his personal copy of God s holy Word. For a little over 2 years the city of Norfolk has been enlarging the capacity of the water plant which is right across from the Mission. Many of the workmen are Latinos and one of those men is a fellow by the name of Gabriel. Gabriel is a vibrant believer and is a member of an independent Baptist Church. The construction work is nearly complete and I wanted to tell Gabriel Good bye. I gave him many Spanish calendars for the year 2017, as well as a shopping bag full of Spanish Bibles. Over the last two years I have supplied Gabriel with such things as he also delights to reach these Spanish speaking men with the Gospel. I find it a blessing to see how my Lord brings people from all over the world into contact so that I can tell them the old, old Gospel. Health update: The latest ultrasound of my abdominal aortic aneurysm was not encouraging. It has grown from 5.0 mm to 5.5 mm in the last year. Two vascular surgeons explained to us that because of complications involving the renal stent done in 2003, this must be a full belly cut, which is quite risky. It could cause possible heart attack, stroke, loss of kidneys or even death. Right now, the risk of surgery is greater than just monitoring it, but when it reaches 6.0 the surgery must be done. I am still not restricted in my activities, but if I experience severe pain, I must get to the hospital two miles away immediately! Janet asked if it were okay for me to climb 57 steps straight up a ship, and they said Yes! As for Janet, she is on a beta blocker for her heart trouble and that seems to be helping. Because she has extreme osteoporosis, the doctor says she must be on Forteo, a once daily shot for two years. She

2 still experiences back pain from the wreck and broken vertebra, greatly limiting her ability to do what she wants to do mainly clean the house! Thank you for all that you do for us. Your prayers and gifts are such a blessing to both of us. Keep your eyes upon the Lord Jesus and watch the working of the Holy Spirit as HE changes you more and more into the image of Jesus Christ. AMEN! We are yours in living union with the Lord Jesus Christ, Jerry and Janet Matson Ephesians 1:6 and Ephesians 3:20 P.S. Hurricane Matthew came our way on October 8 bringing Norfolk 10 inches of rain. Six inches came inside our mission, covering the auditorium! The damage has been extensive. We have not been able to hold services here for 4 weeks! (We have met in a home.) The floors were ruined and the dirt overwhelming, then almost immediately the mold started forming. Insurance will not cover a cent of the approximately $4, worth of repairs that are in the process of being made, because it was considered a wind event. This has brought us much grief, but also much gratefulness that it can be repaired. We also want to update you on Allen Smith. He is waiting for a military surgeon in Ghana to review his MRI and consider whether he will do Allen s surgery at a much lower cost. This officer is now out of the country, but expected to return in November. In the meantime Allen suffers great pain, however he is patiently trusting the Lord to provide his need.

PHILIPPINES October 31, 2016 Dear Pastor Jerry and praying friends, Greetings in the most wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! We thank the Lord for His abundant grace in making our 17th Missions Conference a success, and also to you brethren, for your prayers. Our theme was "BLESSING OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST (Rom. 15:29) with Pastor Bing Tipay as our Guest Speaker. It was a great opportunity to have him as our Speaker and he was so glad to see how the church has grown. Our brethren from our missions in Abra, Bangar, Baroro, San Gabriel, Bauang, Aringay, Benguet and La Trinidad came to join us. LBLC (Lighthouse Baptist Learning Center) parents and some of their relatives and friends came to attend during the first night. Visiting pastors from different Baptist churches and some of their members came also. Some came from Aurora Province, Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur and Cagayan Valley. We are glad we have ministered to them, as they claimed to have been blessed with the messages they have heard all throughout the conference. All our missionary pastors were given time to report and exhort the Word of God. Though Pastor Erlson Bel Guilanda was not here because he is still in Macau, he was represented by Bro. Allan Sacpa, one of the members, and a lawyer by profession. Four newly converts obeyed the Lord's ordinance in water baptism on Sunday after our morning service. They were the product of Pastor Badua's beginner's class during our Sunday School session. We thank God for these souls and may they continue to know and grow in the knowledge of God. We had also fellowship with the pastors who did not go home, and talked about the Lord's work and experiences in the ministry and encourage one another. Sis. Lulu and I went to La Trinidad last October 12 to 16. We had our prayer meeting on Wednesday at the church. On Thursday, we had a Bible study at Sis. Claudia Daligdig's place. She is a newly baptized member of La Trinidad. Most of the members of this mission are working and some are students. We had a discipleship seminar on Friday with Pastor Sebio and his two men, and also with Pastor Paciteng. We went on Bible tracts distribution on Saturday and had an open-air preaching with some group of students of the Benguet State University. We went home to La Union after our worship service on Sunday. Our Jail and Campus ministries continue. We have regular Bible studies weekly, aside from the scheduled Bible studies held at different places of brethren. Lighthouse La Trinidad will be celebrating their 2nd Missions Anniversary on Nov. 13. There will be an evangelistic service on the eve of Nov. 11. Kindly include in your prayers the success of the event. Our missions continue to labor in the Lord's vineyard in their respective areas. Truly God is great, and works in mysterious ways. We thank you also for your unceasing prayers and support for us in the ministry God has entrusted us. May the Lord bless and grant us the wisdom, knowledge and strength (physically, emotionally and most of all spiritually) as we continue to labour in His vineyard.
