Editorial Dearly beloved, In this month of Grace, we are profoundly thankful to God for His gracious acts towards us since the beginning of the year. The Lord is however set to pour out more of His grace this month particularly, to His humble children. We pray that as you go through this GRACE edition of The King's Herald, you will be blessed to receive and give more grace. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen REFLECTION REFLECTION Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble... 1 Peter 5:5 (KJV) Consumables What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work ow. Author: Martin Luther I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 KJV He who cannot rest, cannot work; he who cannot let go, cannot hold on; he who cannot nd footing, cannot go forward. Author: Hosea Ballou Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. Colossians 3:22-25 KJV The church is made up of individuals. It can do nothing except as its members work, and work together. Author: James H. Aughey For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 KJV The test of the artist does not lie in the will with which he goes to work, but in the excellence of the work he produces. 5 THE YOUNG HERALD Happy Children s Day may all our children continue to increase like Jesus in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. Amen THE ASCENSION OF JESUS CHRIST On the fortieth day after His resurrection, Jesus was with His disciples again at Mount Olivet. He told them that when He leaves, the Holy Spirit will come to them and that they will receive power. Then they will become His witness all over the world. fter Jesus had risen up from the dead, He Aappeared to His followers. Jesus rst appeared to the women who came to the grave. Then He appeared to two of His followers on the road and began to explain to them things written about Him. He also appeared to the disciples. He showed them His hands and His feet and asked for sh which He ate to prove He was not a ghost but alive. He told them His death and resurrection took place so our sins can be forgiven. But we need to believe in Him, change our lives and stop doing evil before we can be forgiven. He appeared once to a gathering of more than ve hundred people. As they listened to Him and looked at Him, Jesus was lifted up from the ground towards heaven. The disciples were still looking at Him going up until a cloud covered Him. Suddenly two men dressed in white clothes appeared and stood by them and said that the way Jesus has gone to heaven is the same way He will come back. Jesus will come back for those who believe in Him and He will take them with Him to heaven. Halleluya! Jesus nished His work on earth and is gone up to God the Father. He is alive preparing a place in Heaven for all those who believe. Also, because Jesus is gone, we now have the Holy Spirit with us as our teacher. SOURCE: Matthew 28 (9-10); Luke 24 (13-49 ); Acts 1 (3 & 8-11); John 14 (2-3 & 26-29); John 16 (7); 1Corithians 15 (6) Two gentlemen boarded a ight and were seated next to each other on the commerical plane. After breezing through the on- ight magazine, the rst man turned to the other and asked, what do you do? The gentleman replied: I am a pastor of a church. Oh, said the rst man quickly. I don't believe in this religious stuff. It's for children, you THE WORLD IS JUST FOR CHILDREN know, like the song 'Jesus Loves Me This I know, for the Bible tells me so... The minister politely laughed and asked the other man what he does for a living. I am an astronomer, said the rst man. Oh, that stuff, said the minister. I thought it was just for children, you know - 'Twinkle, twinkle little star... 05

Easter Day Camp Out THE YOUNG HERALD The weekend of Easter on Saturday was one of great excitement and unlimited fun for the children of The King's Court and those who came with their families and friends to the Easter Day Camp. We had an awesome outdoor experience in a safe and beautiful environment under a cool weather by the waterfront a t t h e K o f o - A b a y o m i ' s residence in Ikoyi. The theme of this year's event was 'Mighty To Save'. The dress code; sporty casual as we had loads of physical activities planned for the children. 06

THE YOUNG HERALD It started with praise & worship, a bible study on the Easter theme and voila! the children went agog with excitement as they moved from one game to the other. The teachers were not left out as we all set out to have fun on that day! The activities included football, table tennis, hula hoop, endless jumping on the trampoline, sack race, lime & spoon race and much more! There was also constant supply of edibles like fries & sausages, f r i e s & s h, h o t d o g s, sandwiches, ice cream & more! At the end of the day, both teachers & children were exhausted from the fun time, but the children weren't in a hurry to go home, they wanted more! 07

MARRIAGE & RELATIONSHIP 5 Simple Ways to Overcome a Really Bad Mood Extract from A Crosswalk.com Article by Dr. David B. Hawkins oods, when clearly considered, are Mdistortions of truth. They are facts taken and twisted to suit our ultimate goal - which too often, is not to see things clearly. Too often we want to play the victim, twist the truth, deny our role in a dif culty or outrightly malign another. While these tactics may give us moments of satisfaction, they do not help us grow or effectively deal with a challenging situation. The Apostle Paul may have had situations like mine (and yours) in mind when he admonished us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. In fact, he says this: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans12:2). I am quite sure that God s will is not for me to pout, sulk and withdraw when my feelings are hurt. In fact, I must daily ask God to give me a loving, kind heart and mind, able to effectively discern truth. Likewise, God s will for me and you is to grow into healthy people like Christ. Let s consider some other strategies for keeping a healthy mood: One, breathe. Sure, this sounds overly simplistic. However, when agitated we tend to breathe shallow, allowing adrenaline to surge through our bodies which only serves to create tension in us and between us. Breathe. Attempt to calm yourself. Two, step back from your situation. We would do well, in times of stress with another, to step back from the situation. Allow for a little time to pass before responding. Scripture tells us to be slow to speak and quick to listen (James 1:19). Three, look at your situation from different angles. Someone has said that if we truly understood the other person there would be no con ict. I have certainly found this to be the case. Seek to listen, re ect and understand where the other person is coming from. What is their perspective and why might they have said what they did? Four, consider your part in the problem. Note that you have many options other than to slip into a bad mood. Notice how a bad mood takes a lot of work you must play the victim, rehearse being wronged and likely amplify and distort the other person s words or actions. Don t succumb to a bad mood! Finally, consider the solution. No matter what happened, or who was wrong, consider the solution. What is the problem to be solved? How can you relate to the other person in a way so as to bring harmony? No matter how the other person acts, you are called to live in peace with them and in most cases, you can! Are you prone to mood disturbances? Do you tend to jump to conclusions, placing yourself in a self-righteous position and nding fault with others? Doing this will not serve you well in the long run. Consider the steps above and work on transforming your mind through the power of Scripture and emotional/ spiritual growth. About Dr. David B. 9 BOOK REVIEW What s So Amazing About Grace? By Phillip Yancey Published by Zondervan t ' s s o a m a z i n g t h a t w e Isometimes sing or say, Amazing Grace without giving much thought to how a m a z i n g t h i s g r a c e i s! Sometimes we are excited about His all-suf cient grace because of some positive event and other times we feel as if grace is all ction. Phillip Yancey in his book, What's So Amazing About Grace explores the subject of grace at 'street level' and biblically, demonstrating grace at work in real life stories to show that Grace, though a grand theological word, has not spoiled or lost its meaning even in modern times. Yancey's main message is twopronged: His grace remains amazing and all-suf cient, no matter what and secondly, God desires Christians to offer this same amazing grace to the world. This message is supported by a number of scriptures, quotes and illustrations. For example, He points readers to Apostle Paul's submission that the Church exists to communicate the gospel of God's g r a c e. H e q u o t e s G o r d o n MacDonald who says, The world can do almost anything as well as or better than the Church...You need not be a Christian to build houses, feed the hungry, or heal the sick. There is only one thing the world cannot do. It cannot offer grace. Unfortunately, as Yancey puts it, grace is not often the aura Christians exude, but mainly that of judgement. But in reality, God has commissioned Christians to dispense grace in a w o r l d m o r e f a m i l i a r w i t h unforgiveness than mercy. He also opines that the concept of grace ~God's love available without cost to the recipient~is unique among world religions. It is the de ning characteristic, the cornerstone of the Christian faith. He expounded on the concept of grace with some of Jesus' parables: The Lost Sheep, The Lost Coin and the Unfair wages. All these according to Yancey demonstrate the 'unfairness' of grace, the fact that grace cannot be earned, calculated or counted and the fact that grace is not about competition. Putting it differently, he says, Grace means there is nothing we can do to make God love us more; Grace means there is nothing we can do to make God love us less. Yancey also touches on the subject of exploiting this grace, such as people committing sins with an awareness of God's bountiful forgiveness or taking advantage of Christians. One of Yancey's concluding remarks is a reminder that Christians are called to dole out grace, acting as wise as serpents and as gentle as doves in the process. He also advised that in this process, policy should be separated from persons, making love as the distinguishing mark as Jesus did, such that a woman with ve husbands or a thief nailed to a cross, was welcome to join His kingdom. 12 2015 Shiloh t was a glorious day last Saturday as Ithe Good Women of LP 39 attended their 3rd Annual Shiloh Fire Conference with the theme 'Looking unto the Shepherd'. The decision not to decorate The King's Court Auditorium, venue of the conference, turned out to be a wise one as the women turned out in 'green and yellow' which were the of cial colours of the day. They practically lit up the whole area. Activities at the conference included Zonal Ministrations, Drama, Health Screening etc. The main speaker, Pastor (Mrs) Oretayo Adetola (Special Adviser to G.O. on Women Affairs) advised on who to look up to and who not to look at. She explained that we get distracted when we look around at what people are doing, what they look like, what they are wearing, etc and that this shifts focus from The Great Shepherd, Jesus, who we should look up to at all times. She gave some hilarioius but thought provoking testimonies. The Drama presentation by The King's Court Women drama group also lent credence to the fact that what works out for Mrs. A might not work out for Mrs. B, as such, only the Great Shepherd can do what He will do at His own time for anyone. It was a very good one. Rev. Tony Akinyemi of The Shepherd's Flock International Church, a renowned lifestyle Coach, Nutritionist and Guest speaker spoke mostly about diet and lifestyle. He explained that diseases can be prevented and even cured when we apply some form of discipline by staying away from certain foods and by eating healthy, like, 'did you know that women believing God for the fruit of the womb have no business drinking cow milk'? Did you also know that men can have a healthier prostate by eating more raw tomatoes'? There were so many truths from his message.if you need to know more, please get the CDs and you will be glad you did. The women thereafter checked their BPs, Blood Sugar etc at the junior church where the Lagos State Ministry of Health workers set up shop. They also patronized the various stalls within the canopies erected at the parking lot, where there were food stuffs, cosmetic products, snacks, drinks etc. It was a wonderful experience and by the special grace of God, it will be more glorious come SHALOM!! 12

Praise God The annual Global Outreach Day is here again!! he Global Outreach Day (G.O.D.) started as a massive movement in the body of Christ on TJune 2nd, It was aimed at mobilizing the ENTIRE BODY OF CHRIST to step into divine action to reach the lost. The rst year, millions of Christians around the world trooped out to proclaim the Gospel. It has since grown into a massive annual outreach effort with millions of believers reaching out to the unsaved in their areas/nations on the same day, with one and the same message. The key to our worldwide growth in the Redeemed Christian Church of God is evangelism. We, therefore, participate in this annual event. We continue to support the G.O.D. vision to build up a network of Christians worldwide, equipping and mobilizing them to share the Gospel to several nations on one single day. The General Overseer of the RCCG, in support of the Global Outreach Day Organising Committee, has directed that Saturday May 30th, 2015 should be observed as Global Outreach Day. Every member of RCCG in all our parishes shall be mobilised to participate. Please pray and prepare towards this glorious event. Further announcements will be made in due course. 15 G.O. s APRIL 2015 HOLY GHOST SERVICE Mark 10 : 13 to 16, And they brought small children to Him, that He should touch them: and disciples rebuke those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was much displeased, and said unto them, suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them. Whenever God touches anything, that thing experiences a miracle. In John 6: 5 to 13, Jesus touched ordinary bread and the bread began to experience multiplication; the lunch of a small boy became so multiplied that it fed a huge crowd of ve thousand men not counting women and children. That is why I am sure that when God touches you today, you will begin to experience multiplication. In Luke 7 : 11 to 15, the Bible tells us of a story of a widow who was going to bury her only son; Jesus came along and touched the cof n, when He touched the cof n, the cof n became empty because the fellow that cof n thought it was going to contain for eternity got up and walked out of the cof n. I prophesy to someone here today that the coffin that the enemy had prepared for you shall remain empty forever. In 2 Kings 4 : 1 to 7, the Almighty God touched the oil of a destitute widow and the oil just kept on owing, so much that, not only that the widow was able to pay off her debt, the Bible says she lived on the left over for the rest of her life. She never knew poverty again. I Have told you the story before of a young man, at least an elder now sitting somewhere up here, who came to us completely destitute, came for prayers, he said I don't know what to do anymore everything is now not just zero but below zero; and I prayed for him and God moved me to take the little money I had in my pocket, and am telling you it was little because I was poorer than I am then, but the Almighty God spoke through me as I handed over the money to him and said this money will never nish - I have never read about that before but it came out of my mouth. Today by the grace of God that money has not nished; the man now has at least two houses that I know of. I am decreeing to someone here tonight my God will touch the money in your pocket and that money will never finish. MIRACLES FROM GOD'S TOUCH Miracle of healing. In Matthew 8: 14 to 15, the Bible tells us Jesus came into the house of Peter and met the mother in-law sick of a fever. As soon as He touched her the fever departed. So it could be ordinary fever or it could be something even more complicated like in Luke 13 : 11 to 13, the Bible talks of a woman who had a spirit of in rmity, she was bent double. No matter how she tried she could not lift up herself, but the Almighty God touched her and instantly she was set free. I thank God for the testimonies we heard tonight. The Doctors said she would never walk again because of an accident and she heard the message on Radio that God has spare parts and if you want a replacement for any part of your body, all you need to do is ask Him. And in faith on her bed, she asked for a new leg and woke up the following morning and discovered that God has already answered. In Matthew 8: 1 to 3, the Bible tells us that a leper came to Jesus and said, I know you can make me well, you can make me clean if you are willing, the Bible says Jesus touched him. Leprosy then was incurable, but when Jesus touches a leper the incurable becomes cured. The Almighty God who can cure the incurable will touch you tonight. Physical Resurrection as was in Mark 5 : 35 to 42. Jairus' daughter was dead. Jesus went in there, touched the girl and said little girl, I say unto you arise and immediately she arose. Destiny Resurrection as was in Luke 7 : 11 to 15. As far as human beings are concerned, the destiny of the son of the widow that was going to be buried was over and the destiny even of the mother was over. But when Jesus touched him in that cof n, the destiny of that boy was restored. If there is anyone here today that the enemy had already truncated your destiny as God touches you tonight that destiny will be fully restored. Restoration of Joy as was in 2 Kings 4 : 8 to 37. The Shunamite woman was a great woman and she was entertaining the man of God after some time she decided to build a house for the man of God. And then the man of God said ok; what can I do for you? She said; I need nothing. But they discovered that she was barren and the man of God said, you will have a son. She didn't believe but God has spoken. Thank You my Father and my God. The LORD said there is someone here tonight 15

whether here on this ground or you are listening to me by television, by radio or the internet, is not made clear, but your cry is that, next time when they bring children for their special Holy Ghost Service in April you will come with your own children too. So as God has spoken concerning the Shunamite woman, the baby came. One day, the devil came in and killed the boy. Ha! And the woman said no I didn't know I will have this kind of joy, now I have had it the devil is not going to take it from me. She cried to the man of God, the man of God came and laid on that child three times and the child came back to live. I decree tonight, anything that the enemy has already stolen from you when God touches you today it shall be fully restored. Some of you will remember the story of one of my covenant partners, and may Almighty God bless all my partners in Jesus' Name, She had been barren for a very long time and then she became one of my partners and then she became pregnant and went abroad to register for delivery because she wanted to take care of the pregnancy with every care possible. And then she did a test and discovered that the baby in the womb was already HIV positive and they were going to evacuate. She said no, you can't evacuate. She cried to God and said, how can this be? I am a partner with Your son, she was crying to God in the night. And God spoke to her and said, don't worry, I have already taken care of the situation and I will give you a sign before you get back to Nigeria. Then lo and behold, she boarded the plane at Heathrow, and I was in the same plane. She saw me and began to scream, she said, aha, this is the sign; God has given me the sign. Anyway, we prayed a simple prayer and the Almighty God, the One who can reverse the irreversible not only provided total healing for the baby in the womb, but the husband that infected the baby was healed at the same time. When God touches you today the healing will not be only for your children, but for the entire family. Miracle of Victory. In 1 Kings 18:46, the Bible tells us that the hand of God was on Elijah and he outran Ahab in his chariot. God touched David in 1 Samuel 17 : 34 to 51, and, he was able to kill a lion, he was able to kill a bear, he was able to destroy Goliath. So when the hand of God touches a man He gives him the kind of victory that brings total destruction to the enemy. In Judges 15 : 14 to 15, the hand of God came on Samson and in the twinkling of an eye, he was able to wipe out all those who thought they were destroying him. Some of you know the testimony of one of my sons, l have shared it here before, some people ganged up against him in his place of work because of his Christian standing and they decided they will eliminate him. He came to the Holy Ghost service and the word of God came thus: there is someone here, the enemy has just concluded a meeting to finish you, long after they have gone you will still be rising. The following week, all those who held the meeting to destroy him were all retired and the one they wanted to destroy was promoted. I will prophesy to someone here today, even before tomorrow morning all those who are holding evil meetings concerning you they shall be disbanded. Spiritual Activation. If God touches you, the power of the Holy Spirit that is already in you, but hitherto dormant will suddenly begin to function. In Acts 1 :8, the Bibles says, that you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost is come upon you and then you become a witness onto God in Jerusalem, in Judea, in Samaria and to the uttermost part of the world. Those who know me in those days know that I was a very shy person, I preferred to just stay quietly with my mathematics; I didn't want anyone to disturb me and so I use my mathematics as an excuse for just staying quiet. Then the hand of God touched me when the Holy Spirit came and I can't keep quiet anymore. Everywhere I go now I must tell people about Jesus Christ. I am praying for someone here today too who has been quiet concerning your faith the hand of God will touch you tonight in Jesus' Name. In 2 King 3 :11 to 23, the Bible says the hand of the LORD came upon Elisha and he began to prophesy. How do you know a true prophet? A true prophet of God will tell what will happen long before they happen, they will tell you what will happen that humanly speaking, it is impossible to believe, and then that is why I'm prophesying to someone here tonight, it is going to be well with you, it doesn't matter what the situation may look like now it is going to be well with you. HOW DO YOU TOUCH GOD? We say if God touches a man he will experience a miracle. The question then comes, what happens if God does not touch me, how do I get in contact with Him? The Bible teaches whether God touches you or you touch God the result is the same. In Mark 5 : 25 to 34, the Bible tells us about the woman with the issue of blood. Jesus wasn't looking around praying for people, He was just going and there was a multitude following Him and this woman said well am not asking Him to come and touch me, but I will go and touch Him, and the woman touched the hem of the garment of Jesus and she got her miracle immediately. In Matthew chapter 14 verse 35 to 36, the Bible tells us that many people came together all saying, all we want to do is just touch the hem of the garment of Jesus and the Bible says as many as touched Him were made whole. There are various ways you can touch Him: 1. By Faith: the Bible says in Habakkuk 2: 4, the Just shall live by faith. Jesus said to the woman with the issue of blood, thy faith has made thee whole. You can touch Jesus by faith tonight. In Matthew 8 :5 to 13, the centurion touched Jesus by faith, he said to Jesus you don't have to come to my house just speak a word he said that's all and I know that my servant shall be made whole. I remember telling you about a leader who wrote a letter, and said am not asking you to come and pray for me all am asking is just read this letter, I know 16

if you read this letter I will get my miracle and then you will get the testimony and when I saw that kind of letter and I said Almighty God, glory be to Your Holy name for someone with a faith like this. I was not surprised, when a couple of weeks later I got another letter from the same fellow saying: I know you read my letter because I already gotten my miracle. 2. By Giving. In Luke 21 : 1 to 4 the Bible tells us about the widow who dropped two mites which was all she had in the offering box and she touched Jesus because Jesus called the disciples together and told them; look at that lady she touched me by her giving. She didn't have much she had little but touched Jesus Christ. In 2 Chronicle 1 : 6 to 15, Solomon touched Jesus by extraordinary giving. He gave a thousand burnt offerings in one day and touched the heavens, so that the Almighty God came down that night and paid him a visit and said; anything you want just ask. In 2 Kings 4 : 8 to 17, that great Shunamite woman touched God by persistent giving; she started by giving food to the man of God and went ahead to providing a house for the man of God until God said you touch me, alright now I will respond- Persistent giving. 3. By Relentless Prayer. In Mark 10 : 4 6 t o 5 2, t h e w a y b l i n d Bartimaeus was able to touch Jesus Christ was by crying persistently unto Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me, he refused to stop until God said alright go and bring him. In Matthew 15 : 21 to 28, that woman whose daughter was being tormented by the devil also penetrated through to Jesus Christ because she refused to stop crying for mercy. She said God, just have mercy on me, Jesus said I cant give the bread of children to dogs, she kept on crying until she got her miracle. Many at times we come short of our breakthrough because we pray for just a little while and then we stop. No! God wants you to pray until the nal result would come. And for someone here tonight that final result would be here this evening in Jesus' Name. 4. By Abundant Praise. In 2 Samuel 6 : 14 to 16, David was praising God, he was dancing, he was praising God like little children will do, though he was a king. And the wife looked down from the window and said, look at a king dancing like an ordinary common man. Well, he told the wife, you haven't seen anything yet, the One who made me a king is the One I'm dancing for. God responded in 2 Samuel 7 :8 to 20, and said to David, you will always have someone to sit on the throne because of the way you praise Me you touched Me. I heard a testimony this week that someone who had been sick for a long time suddenly had a vision and the Almighty God showed him a scale, like the kind in front of any court of justice with 2 sides. And in that scale that he saw, one part of the scale was down to the ground loaded, the other was up in the air. And God spoke to the fellow and said; you see that scale it represents you: one side is full of prayers the other side which should be full of praise is empty. And God said to her; when your praise balances your prayer, you will get your healing. And she said, is that it? She woke up, this is an extraordinary visitation from God, she said no problem LORD, I will stop praying for now and I will praise You until the praise section balances the prayer section. For two days and two nights, she did nothing other than praise God and all of a sudden she discovered she was instantly made whole. CONCLUSION From the text we read, Jesus said, let the children come unto Me, for theirs is the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God belongs to children. You don't treat them well, they won't let you come enter the Kingdom. Then nally, when these children came to Jesus, He carried them in His arms and blessed them. Whenever Jesus touches a man or a woman or a child that fellow will be blessed. And then, many at times the major difference between a child and an adult is that the child is innocent. There is no sin separating them and God, so when God wants to touch them nothing stands between the hand of God and their head. You know, Isaiah 59 :1 and 2 says the Hand of the LORD is not shortened that it cannot save, neither His ear heavy, that He cannot hear, but your iniquities have separated between you and your God that He will not hear. In other words, it is sin that is hindering the Hand of God in the life of us adults. The reason the children get their own blessing so easily is because they have no sin. That is why tonight, you need to pray a prayer even if you are already born again you need to pray a prayer that anything that can stand between me and the blessing of God tonight the Almighty God will please wipe it away. And then if you are not even born again, you need to come to Jesus so that the blood of Jesus Christ will wipe away your sins and the Hand of God will be able to reach your head without any obstruction. PRAYER POINTS: 1. Let's praise God once again for the mighty blood that was shed for us. 2. Father, please touch my body and make me free from sickness and disease tonight. 3. Father, please touch my nances and let me begin to enjoy Your abundance 4. Father, please touch me and empower me to outrun all my pursuers 5. Father, please touch me and activate all my spiritual potentials 6. Father, please touch me and empower me to do mighty things in Your name 7. Father, please touch and bless every member of my family. 17

THE ABUNDANT LIFE MENDING FENCES; MAKING AMENDS Sandra Chime-Age ome things in life can be Spatched up, shored up, repaired or redone. But some wounds are too grievous, some blows too shattering, and some rifts too wide to be pulled back together. Some experiences- a betrayal, abuse, neglect etc.- leave us permanently wounded, our psyches dis gured. We live, we go on, but we're not really xed. I was so frightened when I called Ola, said Nkechi. I hadn't talked to her for ve years. We used to be best friends, but she was deeply hurt by the things I said and did when I was still dating Tom, a married man. So much so that she didn't invite me to her wedding two years ago. I was afraid she would slam the phone in my ear. But when I told her I was working on making amends, she seemed to know what I was talking about. I asked to meet her for lunch so I could make amends for the hurtful things I had said. We met. She listened. I said everything I had prepared to say. And then we talked for two hours. I got my friend back! That surprised me. I had been so afraid and ashamed that I had put the call off for months, years, really. I am so glad I didn't put it off forever. A lot of us have been in similar situations, male and female alike, but unlike Nkechi, most of us wait and see if the 'Olas' will make the rst move. Pride is of the esh, In Matt.16:24-26, Jesus Christ Himself enjoins us to shun the prodding of our esh. 'Pride' says surely I am not to blame, if he/she doesn't make the rst move, then that's it, and the bridges get wider. I was just thinking to myself recently. I have lost two very close friends within one year, one to breast cancer and the other to some kind of food poisoning and I shuddered to think that if I had had issues with one or both of them and they suddenly passed on without our issues being sorted out, it would certainly have been a disaster. Will I ever have forgiven myself for holding back? Will I still harbour feelings of selfrighteousness as I waited and made sure I didn't make that rst allimportant move? Making amends may seem like an impossible step to take. It does demand a great deal of us. But, as in all of the steps of spiritual growth, we receive back more than we give. It is important to recognize that we will not always be rewarded with restored relationships. Our task is to make amends, not to anticipate how others will respond. But sometimes, broken relationships can experience healing. Regardless of how people respond, it is a rich reward to experience the serenity that comes from saying, 'I blew it. I harmed you. I am sorry. Making amends can lead to spiritual growth, whether or not the process has any effect on others. Each new step of spiritual growth requires us to return to the fundamentals of the spiritual life. We need to remember that we are powerless but that God is powerful. The practical effect of these truths will become clear as we rely on God to help us make amends to those we have harmed or those that have harmed us. Let us look beyond our esh and what people will say. Prayerfully sort out your own end, don't dwell on what will happen afterwards. Just do what you have to do and move on! As we thank God for May, the month of Grace, let us resolve to tackle pending issues with friends, colleagues, family members or even spouses. No one knows what will happen the very next second in our lives. Bearing grudges or harbouring feelings of anger is the devil's way of making sure that un-forgiveness and bitterness take center stage in people's lives. It is a new beginning. Let's make a fresh start. SHALOM! 19

Heart break is a common metaphor to describe the intense emotional pain or suffering one feels after a loss. The dictionary de nes heartbreak as the absolute worst feeling in the entire world. When one is heartbroken they may actually feel such an intense pain, they don't even want to live anymore. We must have all felt it at some point in our lives no doubt for different reasons; it is deep and overwhelming grief. God knows that there will be moments when we get our hearts broken, that's why the bible tells us in: Psalm 147: 3 He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds Psalm 34: The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the af ictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. Why do hearts get broken? Or should the question rather be, why do we allow our spirits to be crushed? What a r e t h e c a u s e s o f b r o k e n - heartedness? How does one prevent it? Can it be prevented? How do we overcome it? After all, life goes on and we literarily don't give up. Nowadays, people everywhere are struggling through life with damaged emotions. They've endured a lot of negative things, causing untold damage that needs to be dealt with. But all too often, these hurts are simply swept under the carpet in an attempt to make them go away. Satan sees heartbreak as an opportunity to bring us into permanent bondage and also live in regret, but Philippians 3:13 encourages us and makes us aware that when we press forward, strain or reach out there will always be resistance from the enemy; we therefore cannot give up! S o w h e n w e e n d u r e t h e s e heartbreaks rejection, betrayal, abandonment we don't walk through them alone, we need to remember that God has walked that road himself. And in some mysterious way, when our hearts are broken, we're given new insight into the very character of God. Ever since the beginning, we humans have been breaking God's heart. Adam and Eve had the unparalleled opportunity to walk in unbroken closeness with God, yet they rejected the relationship he offered in exchange for a hollow promise (Genesis 3). Since then, people have continued to turn their backs on God's love and faithfulness. Jeremiah recounts the way God aches over our rejection of his love: "They broke that covenant, though I loved them as a husband loves his wife" (Jeremiah 31:32). If anyone has felt the sting of heartbreak, it's God. Some causes of heartbreak: From a relationship (romantic rejection) Loss of a loved one (through death) Betrayal Disappointments Abandonment Failure (of an important exam or job interview) Loss of possession or job, and even Loss of a match by your favourite teamsome decide to keep away from other people in order not to get hurt over and over again, but the problem is that pain is simply a part of the human make-up, and therefore avoiding human interaction won't spare us from heartache. Bible Examples: 1. JOB: In one day he lost his c h i l d r e n, a l m o s t a l l w o r l d l y possessions, his health, and his means of livelihood. What was Job's response? "Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, 'Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD'" (Job 1:20-21). Job grieved. Yet, he worshipped God and remained faithful. Although he had doubts as to God's goodness in these terrible events, through the trial he grew closer to God through God's 20

revelation of Himself (Job 42:1-5). Job learned what all believers can learn through heartbreak God is faithful and good and trustworthy. 2. DAVID: A man after God's own heart, suffered many heart breaking circumstances. Each time, he recovered and was an even stronger man of God. Psalm 34 gives an example of how David overcame heartbreak by calling on the Lord. Notice the rst step: "I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears" (Psalm 34:4). David knew "the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Finally, he expressed a con dence in the love of God that every believer should have: "Many are the af ictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all" (Psalm 34:19). 3. GOD: is not a stranger to the pain of betrayal, either. In one of the most heart-breaking illustrations recorded in the Bible, the prophet Hosea lived out a devastating parallel to God's relationship with his people. God instructed Hosea to marry Gomer, a woman who was compulsively unfaithful to him. Time after time she betrayed him, yet he consistently took her back, loving her against all logic, and, no doubt, the advice of his friends. God's message to his people was clear: By giving their affection to false gods, they were breaking his heart. Their betrayal was a slap in the face of his unconditional love and forgiveness. Perhaps we aren't so different today. We irt with less worthy loves and continually break God's heart with our betrayal. And still he takes us back, his love as unconditional as ever. When we get heart broken, there's comfort in knowing that God has endured that kind of abandonment too. 4. JESUS: At the end of his time on earth arguably the darkest hour of his life he was abandoned by his closest friends, the men he'd spent the bulk of the last three years with. As he was pouring out his grief to God, they were fast asleep. When he was being arrested, they were hightailing it elsewhere to save their own skin. And when Jesus was on the cross, even God himself turned his face away, prompting Jesus to cry out, "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?" (Matthew 27:46). It is therefore safe to conclude that God knows the agony of heart break. It is important to note that there is a grieving process through time but the key to victory is understanding the difference between a normal grieving process and a spirit of grief that will try to attach itself to the person hurting. Bruised and wounded emotions must be healed by allowing God to walk us through step by step. Emotions have a voice when they are wounded and like a wounded animal, can be dangerous. Different reactions like shock, denial, anger, resentment etc. are experienced and healing must take place before there can be progress spiritually and physically. It isn't possible to know through this medium what your heartbreak looks like if you're barely holding the fragile pieces together or if everything has shattered in so many places you don't even know where to begin. Needless to say, this isn't a road you would have chosen, but along the way, we must cling to the hope that God will redeem this heartbreak and, in the process, give us glimpses into who He is. When you feel like your heart is broken beyond repair, remember that nothing about this world is ordinary. You are uniquely positioned, at that very moment, to share an intimate part of God's character which is the place of the broken heart, and its sacred ground, where growth takes place and where we learn the deep things of God. Heartbreak strips us of self-suf ciency and we learn that we can't go it alone. It makes us seek God and rely on Him alone. The more we rely on God, the more we nd that He is trustworthy. The more we nd that He is trustworthy, the more we trust Him and the more we trust Him, the greater our con dence to face the unknown. Don't give a man or a woman the totality of your heart before giving the totality of your heart to God. Some steps to emotional healing: 1. Face the truth we can't be set free if still living in denial. 2. Don't build walls around yourself 3. Confess your fault talk about it 4. Enter into Gods rest and healing it is the beginning of a happier life. It is well with you. Join us in June for another edition. PRAYER POINTS. 1. Thank you Lord for the salvation of my soul 2. Dear Lord, I come to you heartbroken because of.[say why here] 3. I know that you came to heal broken hearts, You are Jehovah Rapha, I need that healing today, in the name of Jesus 4. Lord, please perform your Divine Exchange in my life, in the mighty name of Jesus 5. I receive your beauty for these ashes, I receive the oil of joy for my mourning 6. I put on the garment of praise and throw off this spirit of heaviness, in the name of Jesus 7. Lord, my heart is now in your hands for repair, guard it, protect it, restore it in the name of Jesus I pray this in the name that is above all names, and give You thanks and praise, Lord, that you have answered me. Amen. Isaiah 61:1-3,7: The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me, To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glori ed. (7) Instead of your shame you shall have double honour, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs. Shalom! Past Topics: January I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.
