4 Confession of Sins Pastor: God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all.(1 John 1:5) Congregation: If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7) P: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8) C: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) P: O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, C: Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure! P: For Your arrows pierce me deeply, C: And Your hand presses me down. P: There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your anger, C: Nor any health in my bones because of my sin. (Psalm 38:1-5, 8, 15, 21-22) Absolution (Pastor): Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you. Jesus, God s Son, lived and died for you, you are thereby bought back from sin and death. The Holy Spirit has called you to faith and through that faith brings you the forgiveness of sins. The almighty and merciful Lord grant you pardon, forgiveness, and remission for all your sins. May the Lord who has begun His good work in us, bring it to completion in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
