1 SAINTLY NEWS May 12, 2017 Saint Jude Catholic School Weekly Memo - Volume 20, issue 34 CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FIRST COMMUNICANTS! May Crowning - Today, just a few days before our Nation celebrates Mother s Day, we took time out to celebrate Mary the mother of Jesus, and all mothers. Our second grade students prepared the liturgy, with the guidance of their teachers. As the children processed into the church, dressed in their very best attire we all watched and prayed. Do you realize how very blessed we are to be in a school that offers children the opportunity to grow in their faith, individually and as a family? God is good! Wishing you a Blessed Mother s Day From all of Us at Saint Jude Catholic School Of all the special joys in life, The big ones and the small, A mother's love and tenderness Is the greatest of them all. Anonymous Room 1A entered the operating room last week ready to perform "word surgery". Our littlest surgeons operated on two words using gloves and scissors to create one word...a contraction! Our Drs. used band-aids as apostrophes to create their new words! Great job First Grade Surgeons! You have earned your medical degree in word surgery! We were blessed to have Mr. Gelo, Superintendent of Schools, visit us yesterday. It was a busy day but one filled with JOY and PRIDE. Our Faculty, Staff and Students want to give THANKS to you Mr. Gelo - we are blessed to have you as our leader. Kindergarten had their annual Muffins With Mom. Our Mothers enjoyed poems and songs recited and sung by their little angels. Each child expressed their love by reading why their mom was so amazing. We feel very blessed to have Wonderful Kindergarten Moms! Thanks for sharing your most prized possessions with us. Guidance News- Did you know that the words "BE NOT AFRAID" appear in Scripture 365 times one for each day of the year? Certainly we need this sort of ongoing reminder and encouragement; life can often be filled with anxieties, great and small. By placing our trust in the Lord's presence and care, we will be able to overcome our fears. There's a saying that "Courage is fear that has said its prayers" Prayer reassures us of God's presence and reminds us of our need to rely on his strength, not on our own. As St. John Vianney said "God commands you to pray, be He forbids you to worry." * Pre-K4A was blooming with love for their mothers this week! They wish all of their moms a Happy Mother's and hope they enjoy all of their surprises from their little angels! * We had another successful Blood Drive on Wednesday. Thanks to ALL who came out to help save lives. * If you ordered supplies online from EPI School Supplies, they Hail Mary! Our 4th graders have been focusing on Mary and the will be delivered next week. Please check your order to confirm that Rosary this week. They reviewed the Mysteries of the Rosary, the all items were received. Any questions or concerns, please contact Amy proper way to pray it, and even made their own Rosaries! Attention all shoppers! SJS Annual Used Uniforms Sale! Tuesday & Wednesday (May 16th & 17th) 7:30 am - 8:30 am / 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm Boys' and Girls' Tennis continues to improve with each match. Leading the way for the girls has been Isabella Maldur and Natalia Del Vecchio. The boys have won all 3 of their team matches so far and have Important Upcoming Dates: May 15th - 17th - 8th Grade Final Exams been led by undefeated Chris Vantu. GO SAINTS! Our 8th grade students will be taking their final exams next week (Monday-Wednesday). Parents, please do not schedule any appointments during these days. Students must arrive on time and not be released early. May 22nd - Sports Awards (Grades 5th - 8th) May 23rd - 8th Grade Awards May 24th - 7:00 PM, Church May 25th - K - End of the year 11:00 AM May 29th - NO CLASSES (Memorial Day)

How often a mother means swift reassurance In soothing our small, childish fears, How tenderly mothers watch over their children And treasure them all through the years. The heart of a mother is full of forgiveness For any mistake, big or small, And generous always in helping her family Whose needs she has placed above all. A mother can utter a word of compassion And make all our cares fall away, She can brighten a home with the sound of her laughter And make life delightful and gay.
