Mother Angela Strobel, Prioress General, presided over the election assisted by Sr. Caridad Choi, General Councilor. Sr. Maoro has a master s degree in Religion at the Sogang University, Seoul and took subjects in Spirituality Sr. Ruth at the Angelicum University, Rome. September 15 - Sr. Elisabeth Busbach will be installed as the superior of Bulgaria for a term of three years.

2 P a g e 2 GENERALATE MISSION PROCURE The Generalate, together with the general econome Sr. Maria Ignatius Glaser, met with Sr. Martha Baumeister and Sr. Eva-Maria Zierl at the Casa Santo Spirito in Rome on August for the annual meeting of the Generalate Mission Procure (GMP). The gathering consisted of an evaluation of the GMP performance of the past year, planning for the best interest of the mission, the installation of Sr. Eva-Maria as the new Generalate Mission Procurator and well-wishes and gratitude to her predecessor, Sr. Martha, for her 33 years of dedicated service. Formalized at the Internaional Formators Meeting (IFM) held at St. Scholastica s Center for Spirituality in Tagaytay, Philippines on June 1-21, 2015, the new International Novitiate will be established in Windhoek Priory, Namibia. In the just concluded consultation in Rome it was agreed upon that the first group of formandees will start their novitiate on February 2, RE-NAMING OF IBERIAN PRIORY In this same consultation, it was decided upon that the Iberian Priory shall be re-named Torres Novas Priory where the Priory House is located. Angela, Sr. Martha INTERNATIONAL NOVITIATE The Generalate met with Sr. Timótea Kronschnabl (Iberian Priory Prioress), Sr. Mary Thomas Prado (Windhoek Prioress) and Sr. Alice Ferreira (Angola Regional Superior) to discuss the International Novitiate to be established in Windhoek Priory. The consultation was held at the Casa Generalizia, Rome on July 6-7. RULE OF ST. BENEDICT Sr. Aquinata Böckmann conducted a seminar on the Rule of St. Benedict to 53 Benedictine monks, nuns and sisters at the St. Benedict Monastery of Rio De Janiero from July Among the participants were sisters of the Olinda and Sorocaba priories. The seminar was organized by CIMBRA, the Commission of Inter- Monastics in Brazil. LEADERSHIP AND THE RULE OF ST. BENEDICT (LRB) The third edition of the Leadership and Rule of St. Benedict course took place at the Pontifical University of Sant Anselmo in Rome. Elias Lorenzo, the current ICBE president, met at Sant Anselmo, Rome from July to discuss the next international ICBE meeting of educators from Benedictine and Cistercians schools which will be held in Rome in Present Sr. Josefina, Sr. Xaveria during the meeting were Sr. Josefina Nepomuceno, the head of the Association of Benedictine Schools of the Manila Priory and Sr. Xaveria Bang, representing the Brazilian schools. INDO-SRI LANKAN BENEDICTINE FEDERATION (ISBF) Sr. Ma. Gratia Balagot and Sr. Mariam Benedicta Kavalippadan attended the Indo-Sri Lankan Annual General Meeting held at Asirvanam Monastery, Bangalore, India from August 3-5 with the theme Autonomy. The theme was unfolded into three topics: Autonomy from a Benedictine Perspective, Autonomy and Community: A psychospiritual Investigation and Financial Stewardship. 5 V o l u m e I I I, By: Sr. Hildegardis Nassen, OSB Sr. Lourdes Torres from Olinda Priory was one of the 70 participants who joined the meeting of the network A Cry for Life from June 12 to 14 near Fortaleza, Ceará. The network was founded in 2007 by the Conference of Religious in Brazil. Today around 250 religious women and also lay people of 22 states of Brazil are involved. They cooperate with the international network of consecrated life against human trafficking, Talitha Kum. The topic of the meeting was Sociological Analysis of Human Trafficking on national and international level. As facilitator Jaqueline Leite from Salvador/ Bahia was invited. She herself is actively involved in the work against human trafficking and has acquired rich experience. Talks with practical examples of exploitation, prostitution of children, slavery, sex tourism especially during the world cup of football in Brazil were given. All the concerns were brought before God in prayer. Concrete actions to minimize the problem were suggested: Work towards a greater awareness of the problem in endangered groups, women and girls especially from the poorer levels of society. By: Sr. Christiane Maria Spannheimer, OSB Internationality is reflected by our activity in Nairobi itself, as Kenya with its 600,000 refugees - let alone about 350,000 in Dadaab Camp - stands in fourth place after the countries of Pakistan, Iran and Germany that take in refugees. Every day they knock at the doors of the convent. They are accepted as patients in the dispensary and also at the Subiaco Center. Our Nairobi community is already very international with sisters from Korea, Angola, Uganda, United States, Congo, Germany and Kenya. Therefore, the sisters know how to deal with foreigners and partly speak their language. Thus we see with us refugees from various African countries. Sr. Serva meets almost daily the young men in the picture at the Karen Shopping Centre. Some together with their families are listed in a social program. They are treated in our Dispensary and therefore free of major health concerns. One or the other even let off alcohol or drugs, in which they had been thrown into out of despair. RELIGIOUS GATHER IN TAIZÉ Around 350 young people, women and men living a monastic or religious life gathered in Taizé from July 5-12 for a Week of Reflection on the Relevance of a Religious Vocation. This first meeting of a kind had an attendance from Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic communities and from around the world from Madagascar to Denmark and from Indonesia to Mexico. FILIPINA SISTER SELECTED FOR HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD By : Staff Reporter Rome, August 11, 2015 (ZENIT.org) A Benedictine sister has been selected as the winner of the 2015 Human Rights Prize by the city of Weimar, Germany. Sister Stella Matutina was chosen for her anti-mining activities in the southern Filipino region of Mindanao.
