2 Good Morning! Normally on Sundays we celebrate the Holy Eucharist (Communion) at 8 a.m. (solemn service, no hymns) and 10:15 a.m. (music, nursery care and children s formation, Labor Day-Memorial Day). Our liturgy is from the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), found in your pew. All are welcome to the Lord s Table. It is our custom to receive the bread in our open hands and consume immediately. When you are offered the chalice, please assist by gently holding the base and guiding the cup to your lips. If you prefer, having consumed the bread, you may return to your seat. We believe Christ is fully present in either element. If you have not been baptized or prefer not to receive Communion, simply cross your arms over your chest and the priest will give you a blessing. Childcare for infants and toddlers is available during the 10:15 service. Please ask an usher for directions. We also have activity bags for young children. These are located across from the tile table by the ushers. If you are visiting today, please sign our guest book in the entrance area. We will mail you a copy of our newsletter, The Visitor. 3 Today is an Instructed Eucharist, when we learn about our Sunday worship service and why we do what we do. An Instructed Eucharist is held each time we have a Confirmation class in formation. 4 Today s Scripture Reading Matthew 18:15-20 Jesus said, If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them. 9 Sermon The Rev. Corinne Hodges Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. 12 The Great Thanksgiving The Celebrant announces the corporate Eucharistic Intention, followed by Eucharistic Prayer A (Book of Common Prayer, p. 361) Then, facing the Holy Table, the Celebrant proceeds It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and every-where to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. Proper Preface Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name: Sanctus

Then the Celebrant continues Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself, and, when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself, in obedience to your will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world. At the following words concerning the bread, the Celebrant is to hold it, or to lay a hand upon it; and at the words concerning the cup, to hold or place a hand upon the cup and any other vessel containing wine to be consecrated. On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, "Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. The Celebrant continues We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son, the holy food and drink of new and unending life in him. Sanctify us also that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, constancy, and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.

16 THIS WEEK AT ST ANNE S SEPTEMBER 10 SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 Our confirmands will help lead at both the 8 and 10:15 a.m. services in an Instructed Eucharist. Class will begin following the service at 11:30-1 p.m. HEALING Following each service, prayers for healing will be offered for body, mind and spirit. CHILDREN S FORMATION Begins September 10 following the 10:15 service. Atrium I - children ages 3-6, Atrium II - children ages 7-9 will be using the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Living the Good News for ages is currently in need of a teacher. If you are interested in teaching, please speak to Pastor Corinne or someone on the Christian Formation Committee. ECW MEETING September 10 at 11:30 in Rose Hall. HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF EFFORTS "If people want to help, financial donations are the best to allow Salvation Army personnel to purchase items they need from the local economy in that area and also provide gift cards to the individuals and families affected by the flooding." Please donate nonperishable food items: cereal, bottled juice (no glass) or juice boxes, canned vegetables/fruits, granola bars, snack foods, instant macaroni and cheese, instant flavored oatmeal, etc. We are trying to encourage healthy foods, as this may be the only food on hand. Many of these children have little siblings at home, who will eat the food as well. Monetary donations are welcome.
