4 Presbyterorum Ordinis PRESBYTERORUM ORDINIS. Priests by sacred ordination and mission which they receive from the bishops are promoted to the service of Christ the Teacher, Priest and King. They share in his ministry, a ministry whereby the Church here on earth is unceasingly built up into the People of God, the Body of Christ and the Temple of the Holy Spirit. PRESBYTERORUM ORDINIS - Vatican.va Presbyterorum Ordinis. Presbyterorum Ordinis, the Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests, is one of the documents produced by the Second Vatican Council. On 7 December 1965 the document was promulgated by Pope Paul VI, after an approval vote of 2,390 to 4 among the assembled bishops. The title means "Order of Priests" in Latin. Presbyterorum Ordinis - Wikipedia THE VATICAN II TYPE OF PRIEST. Two texts were then elaborated rather hastily and in a spirit of rejection of the past most detrimental to a sound and solid theology : the first one dealt with the Ministry and the Life of Priests, Presbyterorum Ordinis, the second one with their training in seminaries, Optatam totius. Among the many causes for some of the lengthy delays in the conciliar procedures for that decree were some seemingly interminable arguments about such issues as whether to use the word sacerdos (priests and bishops) or presbyter (priest only) for priest in the Latin document. Presbyterorum Ordinis, the Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests, is one of the documents produced by the Second Vatican Council. PRESBYTERORUM ORDINIS. Therefore the object that priests strive for by their ministry and life is the procuring of the glory of God the Father in Christ. That glory consists in men's conscious, free, and grateful acceptance of God's plan as completed in Christ and their manifestation of it in their whole life. Vatican II: Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests... Full text of Presbyterorum Ordinis.. Summary. While all the faithful participate in the priesthood of Christ, the ministry of Priests is distinct from this. Priests, by their very office, are able to offer sacrifice and to forgive sins, and they perform their priestly office publicly for men in the name of Christ. PO Presbyterorum Ordinis Freedom's Discourse Presbyterorum Ordinis, Vatican II s Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests focuses on the pastoral mission of priests.
