When all denied it Jesus said, Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.. In today s Holy Gospel reading, the woman afflicted with an issue of blood declared that if only she could touch Jesus garments, she would be healed. She touched fearfully, (humbly) from behind, Jesus tunic; and she was cured of her illness. What a great example of faith! What a thought. What a prayer! We, the faithful, may not be able today to touch Jesus actual garments to receive His healing power. We may, however, touch Jesus in sincere conversation with Him, mystically in communion with other faithful (members) of the Body of Christ which is the Church, in the mystery of Lord s Last Supper. We must not assume that because we have touched Jesus we are a part of a community, a church. But there are moments when we humbly and willingly show compassion to those in need of healing, i.e., feeding the hungry, forgiving, releasing that awful bitterness, etc. It is through that experience that we will attain a kind of inexpressible trembling that make us say loudly: I have touched Jesus, or better, Jesus has just touched me repeating the Publican s words Lord, I am not worthy to lift my eyes towards You. Be merciful to me, a sinner. Our mission is to become Disciples of Christ, through thought, word and deed, humbly submitting to the will of the Father, while seeking the Holy Spirit to achieve Salvation. Our Vision with the Grace of God, is to provide a loving community where all belong to Christ, through worship, sanctification, education, witness, compassion and fellowship. 4 Epistle Reading: Galatians 6:11-18 Brethren, see with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that would compel you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who receive circumcision do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may glory in your flesh. But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God. As he went, the people pressed round him. And a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years and had spent all her living upon physicians and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind him, and touched the fringe of his garment; and immediately her flow of blood ceased. And Jesus said, "Who was it that touched me?" When all denied it, Peter and those who were with him said, "Master, the multitudes surround you and press upon you!" But Jesus said, "Some one touched me; for I perceive that power has gone forth from me." And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace." While he was still speaking, a man from the ruler's house came and said, "Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more." But Jesus on hearing this answered him, "Do not fear; only believe, and she shall be well." And when he came to the house, he permitted no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child. And all were weeping and bewailing her; but he said, "Do not weep; for she is not dead but sleeping." And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. But taking her by the hand he called, saying, "Child, arise." And her spirit returned, and she got up at once; and he directed that something should be given her to eat. Sarantis Loulakis. The one-hour class surveys the history, spirituality, doctrine, and worship of the Orthodox Church. The The class is especially intended for those who are thinking about converting to Orthodoxy and for family members and friends who would like to support them on their journey, but it is also open to people who are already Orthodox and who would like to deepen their understanding of their faith. The class explores Christian theology and practice through reading selections of Scripture, the Church Fathers, the lives of the Saints, and other texts representative of the Orthodox worldview. These readings are the starting point for our discussions, which aim at clarifying doctrine and worship and helping us to discover (or rediscover), week after week, why we belong in the Church. Classes will be held (Bi-weekly) every OTHER Wednesday night at 7:00pm in church starting on October 17th, Occasionally the class date and time may be changed with ample time of notice. Closing Prayer Parish Bylaws Article II Parishioners - Any person, eighteen years of age or over, who was baptized according to the rites of the Church, or was received into the Church through Chrismation, who lives according to the Faith and canons of the Church, abides by the Uniform Parish Regulations and these appended by laws, signs a stewardship card, fulfills his or her financial obligation to the Parish, and cooperates in every way towards the wellbeing of the Parish, is a Member in Good Standing of the Parish. The definition of fulfilling one s financial obligation to the Parish is by necessity a flexible one based upon each Parishioners personal circumstances and commitment. Generally, for purposes of voting in Parish Assemblies and elections, one is considered to have fulfilled his or her stewardship to the Parish if he or she has, at least three months prior, made a pledge for the current year by signing a stewardship card in Time, Talent or Treasure. As an exception, if the Parishioner has been a Member in Good Standing in the year immediately preceding but is not in good standing for the current year as a Parish Assembly or election approaches, he or she may be brought back in good standing (assuming all other qualifications of a Member in Good Standing are met) by submitting a signed pledge card at least seven (7) days prior to the Parish Assembly or election.

Ephesians 4:31-32 (KJV) Ladies Philoptochos Our next Food Bank collections through October will also focus on the neediest students in Guilford County and will be donated to the Backpack Beginnings program. This organization serves over 7000 students experiencing hunger in our community by providing backpacks of weekend food and also stocking Food Pantries in 19 Guilford County Middle and High Schools. Please donate non-perishable items so we may help this very important organization stock these Food Pantries. The following are food donations that are most needed: soups, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned beans and pastas, dry pastas, spaghetti sauces, rice, macaroni and cheese, canned tuna, peanut butter and jelly, cereals, oatmeal, grits, shelf stable milk, and 100% fruit juice. In addition, they accept personal hygiene items such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes. They also accept paper grocery bags. Donations may be left in the Narthex or on the Food Bank Cabinet in the Fellowship Hall. Please note on your calendars, our Fall Philoptochos General Meeting, on Tuesday, October 23. Meetings begin at 6:45pm with refreshments and the business meeting begins promptly at 7pm. Please join us and bring a friend and learn of the many exciting projects and events planned for the remainder of 2018 into Also, at this meeting we will be assembling the Care Kits which will be made available to all parishioners to take and share with those in need.
