5 reading 1 Corinthians 12:12 31a Just as body is one has many members, all members of body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized in one body Jews or Greeks, slaves or free we were all made drink of one Spirit. Indeed, body does not consist of one member but of many. If foot would say, Because I am not a h, I do not belong body, that would not make it any less a part of body. And if ear would say, Because I am not an eye, I do not belong body, that would not make it any less a part of body. If whole body were an eye, where would hearing be? If whole body were hearing, where would sense of smell be? But as it is, God arranged members in body, each one of m, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would body be? As it is, re are many members, yet one body. The eye cannot say h, I have no need of you, nor again head feet, I have no need of you. On contrary, members of body that seem be weaker are indispensable, those members of body that we think less honorable we clo with greater honor, our less respectable members are treated with greater respect; whereas our more respectable members do not need this. But God has so arranged body, giving greater honor inferior member, that re may be no dissension within body, but members may have same care for one anor. If one member suffers, all suffer ger with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice ger with it. Now you are body of Christ individually members of it. And God has appointed in church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers; n deeds of power, n gifts of healing, forms of assistance, forms of leadership, various kinds of ngues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak in ngues? Do all interpret? But strive for greater gifts. Reader Hear what Spirit is saying God s people. Assembly Thanks be God. After a brief silence Presider sts; all rise as able for proclamation of Gospel. gospel procession Children are invited join Gospel Procession, gar around as Gospel is proclaimed. 9 sanctus & benedictus William Mathias ( ) Organ: Presider We ask that your Holy Spirit fall upon us upon se gifts, that se fragile, earthly things may be us body blood of our Lord bror, Jesus Christ. On night he was betrayed, Jesus gared with his faltering friends for a meal that tasted of freedom. He ok bread, gave thanks, broke it said: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In same way after supper, he ok cup of wine, saying: This cup is new covenant in my blood. Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me. As on that night, so here now he offers himself in uch taste beyond all that words can hold. And so we proclaim great mystery of faith, saying: All Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Presider With se gifts we are filled with life-giving presence of Christ; we proclaim him as creation s host, transforming poverty in plenty with his generous love. Inspire us with hope that one day death greed will be no more, people will come from east west, north south share a feast of abundance.
