The Sacrament of the Altar: In bread and wine of the Lord s Supper, our Lord Jesus comes to us in His true Body & Blood. In this Holy Meal, one receives full forgiveness and perfect unity with each other. Scripture requires that each communicant first examine himself/herself regarding confession of sin, trust in Jesus for salvation, belief in the Real Presence, and the desire to grow in grace. We believe that Communion is a time when believers of like mind come close to the Lord and to one another. We do practice close Communion, which means that all communicants believe as we do, and graciously receive this gift. If you are supportive of these beliefs, we welcome you to the Lord s Supper. If, however, at this

8 Page8 point you are unsure or question whether your beliefs differ from those of our church, we ask that you use the communion time to meditate and pray. For these reasons, it s best for our new (first time) guests/visitors to talk briefly before the service with the pastor or an elder. Currently Dixie Johnson is teaching Preschool to Kindergarten age and Amanda Brand is teaching the 1 st Grade through High School age. Please consider serving in this position. These services will be in place of the 10:30am service at church. A shortened Sunday School and Adult Bible Class time will still be held on these Sunday s in the church basement. 10 Page10 ST. PAUL S CONSTITUTION & BYLAWS: Notification has been received that the Nebraska District Board of Directors has ratified our revised constitution and bylaws. As a congregation we are now free to adopt these revised documents. To adopt them, they will be voted on at both the October 21, 2018 and January 20, 2019 Voters Assembly Meetings, with two-thirds of all voting members present casting their vote in favor of the revised documents. These documents were approved by a unanimous vote during the October Voters Meeting. Plan now to attend and cast your vote! COAT DRIVE: As we know from few weeks ago, winter will soon be upon us. It is time for our annual Coat Drive here at St. Paul's. Donations of clean coats, scarves, gloves, and mittens are always needed and welcome. They may me adult or youth sizes. All sizes are welcome and may be put in the box in the narthex. We take them to the Coat Pantry at the Christian Church. If you are in need of any of these items, feel free to take them out of the donation box. That is what they are for. The ones not taken here will be taken to the Coat Pantry. Thank you for your generosity! POINSETTIA: If you would like to furnish a Poinsettia for our chancel at Christmas, call Kelly in the church office at Cost per poinsettia is $16. Deadline to order is December 2 nd. SCRIP CARDS: Giving gift cards for Christmas this year? Order your gift cards through our St. Paul s Lutheran School Scrip Card program and our school will automatically get money in return at no extra cost to you! It costs you nothing, as you pay $50 for a $50 gift card, but up to 14% of that purchase price is given to the school, depending upon the card type.
