The time and place of my marriage I should be only too delighted to give you, but it requires two to fix the time and place, and whoever the lady is, as I have not the pleasure of knowing her, I cannot consult her at present conveniently about it. When I was young, a fortune teller gave me the exact name of my wife and her parents, but I regret to say that I did not make a memorandum of it. I have travelled West as far as Bismarck, Dakota, with a view of engaging there in some agricultural out-of-door pursuit, and looked over Eastern Dakota with that end in view. What I saw during that journey I have described at some length in the Albany Argus, of which I was then an occasional correspondent. On my return from the West, obliged on account of ill-health to lead an out-of-door life, I engaged in poultry-farming at Grafton, Mass., for a year and a half, which improved my health so much that I have returned to intellectual work, and am now Manager of Law and Order, a weekly paper in Boston, devoted to the interests of the Citizens Law and Order League Movement throughout the United States. The book is made up of 435 paragraphs, each containing a valuable thought, something after the style of the Proverbial Philosophy of Tupper and Solomon. Father: Willard D Wheeler Mother: Sarah W Wheeler JUL 22- Announces Soon To Be Published: LECTURES ON RUSSIAN LITERATURE Published: LECTURES ON RUSSIAN LITERATURE OCT 14- BOOKS RECEIVED NEW YORK HERALD NOV 19- A RUSSIAN INFIDEL BAPTIZED- MINNEAPOLIS MN Chicago, Nov. 18- A special dispatch from Minneapolis, Minn., says: Ivan Panin, the Russian littérateur, was baptized in the Central Baptist Church last evening after his renunciation of infidelity. For four years Panin has been gradually seeking the truth, as he expresses it, and his confusion has been so great as to lead him to contemplate suicide. All his life up to the time of his graduation from Harvard in 1884, (sic) Panin was an infidel. He came to Minneapolis a year ago to deliver a few lectures. Since becoming a Christian the Russian has renounced lecturing on worldly topics and will henceforth stick to the pulpit. In his address he said that three years ago, when struggling with his conscience and with thoughts of suicide constantly on his mind, he went to a world-famous preacher for relief. Instead of receiving bread, the minister gave him a stone, arguing with him on the subject of suicide. Although no name is mentioned, he is thought to refer to the Rev. Phillips Brooks. PANIN, Ivan Nikolayevitsh Son of Nikolai Ivanovich and Marie (Rasumoffsky) Panin, was born at Twer, Russia, December 22, 1855, and was admitted to Harvard in September, 1878, and at that time entered in the college Book of Records that he was self-taught, that his residence was St. Petersburg, Russia, and that his father s occupation was Director of Police. Throughout his college course the annual catalogues gave his home address as Concord, Mass. Since graduation his life has been devoted chiefly to literary work, lecturing, newspaper editing, and somewhat to farming. He has published a number of books and pamphlets upon Russian literature and upon the Bible, and various philosophical subjects connected with religion. His lectures have been upon similar topics delivered before the Lowell Institute in Boston, in New York, and in many of the western cities. He has lived in Boston and at Grafton, an adjoining town to Worcester, Mass., and at the latter place has engaged in poultry raising. He was married, June 18, 1889, at Wellesley to Miriam Wheeler, a graduate of Wellesley College, and has one son, Ivan. Pleasant Cemetery Ivan Panin, 86, widely-known Bible student and teacher, died early yesterday at his home at Aldershot. For 50 years he had been a student, writer and lecturer on Biblical criticism. As a young man, Mr. Panin was an agnostic, so well known that when he discarded his agnosticism and became a Christian, newspapers carried headlines telling of his conversion. He is survived by his widow. His only son died in Mr. Panin was born in Russia and was educated there and in Germany. In 1882 he received his A.B. degree from Harvard university, following which he lectured on Russian literature at Lowell university, Boston, Mass., in Later he delivered the same course in various cities of the U.S., and in 1890 discovered what is called the numeric structure of the Bible, and to the elaboration of this discovery his life since had been devoted. In 1934, he published the Numeric Greek Testament, which, with the exception of some spellings still to be adjusted, presents this established text. He has published numerous books, including the Writings of Ivan Panin, Once in Grace Always in Grace. The English Numeric New Testament and other works on Bible numerics and in defence of the faith have been printed from time to time, outstanding among which are: Bible Chronology; Established by Numerics; The Last Twelve Verses of Mark; Their 5

6 Genuineness Established, and The Inspiration of the Scriptures Scientifically Demonstrated, of which a copy was sent to every Protestant minister in Canada. Mr. Panin also delivered lectures in several cities in England in Since 1927 he had lived in Aldershot. The funeral was held from his home this afternoon and burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Toronto. The composition is built up in an incredible method of using all words in a septenary order, the letters following the same rule. It is open to anyone to prove it for himself. I thought I would test it on the Lord's Prayer, and sure enough there are 63 words and 315 letters, multiples of 7. Try and write an English paragraph with 63 words and 315 letters and with some sense in it, not to speak of such values as the New Testament provides, and the difficulty of composition of this kind will be evident.
