The life in front of you Beyond the Big Ideas!
We have seen that science is an organized process of inquiry.
It is built on repeatable observations & testable, falsifiable hypotheses.
It is a rational tool for often irrational human beings in our attempts to understand how nature and life operates. And yet, little time is spent on considering how best to get through this life and to make the best of our time while we have it. Here s Johnny!
It is at this time that I want to provide some life insights from my life experience. (all may my now groan in unison..)
First, seek to prevent major life mistakes by learning from the bad outcomes of others.the costs of mistakes will be much cheaper.
Second, seek wisdom in your decisionmaking from those wiser than yourself you know where to search. It has been there for the ages. Our own vision is too limited and self-serving to see all of the wider landscapes of life s possibilities.
Each must find their own, but for me, I have found inspiration in the quirky and the sublime including the work of the late Joseph Campbell.

Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain. Joseph Campbell on coping with loss
Participate joyfully in the sorrows of the world. We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy. Joseph Campbell
The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty yes to your adventure. Joseph Campbell
Charles Darwin The core theme of biology is change. People change. Circumstances change. All change means that something is lost and something is gained.
Some changes are genetically determined we will reach our prime, we will age, and we will die. All of us. No exceptions.
So, in the end, how will the value of your days be measured? h?v=lmxin55rxni
For each of us eventually, whether we are ready or not, someday, it will come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises. No more minutes, hours or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.
Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or owed.
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies will finally disappear.
So too your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.
It won t matter where you came from or on what side of the tracks you lived at the end.
It won t matter if you re beautiful or brilliant. Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.
So, what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?
What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built.
What will matter is not what you got, but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success, but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you are gone.
What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who love you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.
A life lived that matters is not one of circumstance, but of choice. Steve Kroschel
Life is very much a journey. Like this road, we can only see a short distance before it changes direction. You are now to embark on a new phase of life. I hope this road provides both opportunities and challenges in the years to come. I ll not say goodbye, but rather a heartfelt see you later. I count myself blessed and honored to have known each and everyone of you. I wish you well in the years to AP come. Biology
