THOUGHT-PROVOKING QUESTION This is an open-ended question; it cannot be answered yes or no What qualities allow you to respect someone? What was the hardest decision you ever made? How was your life changed by an event in your life?

3 B. SIMILE OR METAPHOR THAT YOU CREATE Anne Frank s diary was a bright light of hope in a dark and depressing chapter of human history. Leonardo Da Vinci s mind was like a machine that regularly generated the most wondrous inventions and amazing artwork. Making a decision is sometimes like holding onto a fish; hard to make and even slipping away if it s not made thoughtfully. Like the cornerstone that supports a building, respect is the foundation of most relationships. Sometimes life is a directing our existence.

4 C. A COMMON/UNIVERSAL EXPERIENCE Most of us have been the new kid at some point in our lives. We all love the thrill of going someplace new, of beginning a new journey. Life experience = Respect= Decision=

5 D. A SENTENCE OR TWO OF IMAGERY. Picture yourself in the bone-chilling tundra known as the Klondike. Hear the moaning winds rush past you. Feel the chill slowly creeping into your fingers, toes, and nose. Imagine a man with a kind smile and wise eyes. His unkempt grey hair tumbles in irregular waves away from his face. His clothes are mismatched and wrinkled as he sits and ponders a mathematical enigma. Imagine you are looking at Albert Einstein. Imagine standing before two doors, your only escape A tall man enters the room as everyone stands; his military uniform commands respect as the crowd recognizes the service he has provided the country. Saying goodbye was the hardest moment of my life...

6 E. A QUOTATION THAT RELATES TO YOUR TOPIC. Albert Einstein once said, Imagination is more important than knowledge. Writer John Steinbeck one said, In the world there is both victory and defeat. Some are destroyed by defeat and some are made small and mean by victory. Greatness lies in one who triumphs equally in both victory and defeat.

A SURPRISING FACT According to the U.S. Census Bureau in 2006, the average annual income for a high school dropout in 2005 was $17,299, compared to $26,933 for a high school graduate, a difference of $9,634. According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day (or 28 hours/week, or 2 months of nonstop TV-watching per year). In a 65-year life, that person will have spent 9 years glued to the tube.

After the Trojan War, Hermes visits Zeus. Zeus asks him what he wants to do and this is Hermes response. Hermes learns after sending so many young soldiers to the Underworld, that the Trojan War is bad for humans and that he would rather help them in their positive endeavors like he did with Perseus than this. Hermes used to be more self-centered and fun seeking and now he is more concerned about the welfare of humans and is compassionate. 2) 3)
