5 pennyweight hill M. Kennedy The remains of over 200 children lie in shallow graves on the top of a small hill in central Victoria. Small circles of sandstone surrounding tiny mounds dominate this one acre of land, the Pennyweight Childrens Cemetary. Most were victims of the harsh conditions experienced during the gold rush in the 1850 s. You ll find Emily there. This song is dedicated to the small band of volunteers who have fought for many years to save this sacred place and it s environs from development. Kennedy lately, i ve been baking bread it seems a simple thing a welcome for the day with out a word now my house fills with sweet sweet smells simple things can wake a weary world lately, i ve been sowing seeds in my own garden they ll build my bones and taste of sunshine too i wish i d listened hard to my grandfather a life of sowing seeds was all he knew lately, i ve been singing songs instead of all the things i should do before this day is done it s a sad sad thing that i will sing too few songs before my days are done lately, i ve been watching love come through my own front door we break bread sing and dance and drink our fill although dawning day carries you away the love we make is in these old walls still lately, i ve been baking bread it seems a simple thing it welcomes in the day without a word now my house fills with sweet sweet smells simple things can wake a weary world simple things can wake this weary world
