3 The Personality Types That Lead To Psychic Success A wise man profoundly stated that all humans being are the same, but different. What I think this means is that all of us humans have the same mental technology to use, but we all use it in our own unique ways. We all have brains, and we can all develop our psychic perceptions with clairvoyance, clairaudience, and the rest. All of us are equally endowed with the same fundamental tools for evolving our spirituality. It is true that some humans are born into families that carry strong psychic traits, but they are the minority. The majority of people are simply born with psychic POTENTIAL. If we all have the same gear for turning a mundane life into one sparkling with spirituality, then what separates those who DO become psychic, from those who don t? Personality types. To be clear, there are no set in stone psychic personality archetypes as we understand it. There are only generalizations. Nobody falls 100% under any of these categories, but they might come close at times. The reason it s useful to learn these personality types, is because it ll help you to notice and enliven the aspects of these that are inside yourself, and harness them for further evolutionary development. There are of course mixtures of these types. The term mystic is the most accurate description of a true spiritual seeker. The word mystic means to approach spirituality and The Greater Reality through

4 personal experience. Most people, it seems, miss this key aspect of spirituality. There are as many paths to spiritual enlightenment as there are people practicing spirituality. Let s take a look at these archetypes and break them down for our examination. Eastern Mystic This archetype has gained HUGE popularity in the Western world over the last century. And the Dalai Lama has been presenting sold out shows all over the planet, because of this. He is a kind of religious rock star, associating with celebrities and royalty everywhere. The eastern mystic personality type is one that generally is oriented around kindness and compassion and steady, quiet, humble devotion to spiritual progress. Usually this school of thought teaches its followers to get rid of all their possessions and live a simple minimalistic life. There are pros and cons to that approach. Giving up all your personal belongings for spirituality can be as rewarding as it can be dangerous. While it frees the spirit, it can also be difficult to provide for yourself in case of emergency. But the flip side of the coin is that by removing clutter and distraction from your life, it is MUCH EASIER to focus on spiritual practices. Eastern mystics seek simplicity in life. If there is one thing that will rob you of your time, its complications and time-demanding schedules that add no net value to your spiritual work. By isolating themselves into monasteries, retreats, or caves, these modern mystics are able to FORCE

5 themselves to exercise their psychic perceptions. This is the ideal spiritual life, but removing oneself from the real world is not necessarily the best thing. However, while isolation is ideal for focusing on spiritual practice without distraction, a less severe and more balanced path is to find ways to accomplish this in and around your normal life. Integrating your spiritual beliefs and practices into your everyday life is the optimal approach. The typical Eastern monk archetype is drawn to chanting in ancient Eastern tongues, dressing in robes, the shaving of heads, practicing Yoga, etc. Simplicity, kindness, compassion, and a devotion to spirituality, is a good way to become more enlightened and to develop psychic abilities. Pagan Witch Fond of nature, friend of animals, and student of mythology, the pagan witch motif is a native archetype of the Western world. With roots in Europe, this specie of practitioner tracks astrological movements, and bases their work on the resources provided by nature. Wand in hand, this student will perform elaborate rituals in attempts to change reality according to their will. Like the eastern mystic type they, too, have traditional garb for ceremonies. By comparison, the pagan witch is more in tune with the real world and may even do spells for mundane desires like money and possessions and romance. Unfortunately, many people who don t practice spirituality at all, have taken on the dress and facade of

6 the pagan witch. This is prevalent in the gothic community, often turning witchcraft into a caricature that is ridiculed. And the idea of broomsticks and turning people into frogs pushed by Hollywood has only made this worse. Although, movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings have brought some arguably positive attention to the world of magick. The magickal heritage of paganism offers a lot of value in a fairly-well-accepted wrapper. Working with the forces of nature and the elements is a great way to tune into the basic powers of the physical universe. After all, that is what spirituality is in essence... learning to harness the strengths and movements of existence for personal development and spiritual evolution. Much of the foundation of philosophy in the west is based on the work laid out by magickal scholars and practitioners. It s amazing how many of the revered thinkers and writers of old were secretly magickians that hid their pagan identify in order to protect themselves from religious and governmental persecution. This archetype is a powerful way to jumpstart your personal evolution, and it has a rich tapestry of ideas and ancestry for a lifetime of research and study. Business Professional If you have a white collar job, then it s likely that there are psychics and spiritual practitioners around you who are still in the closet. They keep this part of their personal lives confidential, for the same reason the mystics of old hid these things to avoid judgment and persecution. These office psychics are all over society, and go from executive by day, to spiritual practitioner by night. In fact, they might even be seen sneaking a reading or

7 studying spiritual material on their computers when they should be working. This archetype is a contemporary manifestation that has happened in response to the white-collar culture. Office mystics are just as devoted as any other personality type they just work at business during the daytime. And they protect their true identities for good reason ridicule, loss of promotion, or even loss of a job could easily result. These practitioners are often aiming their power into both spiritual evolution and professional evolution. And this is perfectly understandable. Professional advancement and prosperity are worthy goals, so long as it never interferes with the true purpose of life s spiritual advancement. You can catch these office-psychics taking a lunchbreak meditation in the local park, or in the lounge of their workplace. Usually these professionals have found a work/life balance, and have incorporated and blended spiritual practices and occupational living into a healthy holistic lifestyle. But a warning to business professionals... the corporate environment can often be vapid and empty of any creativity or liberated attitudes. Often the corporate world is dogmatic and overly uniform, where each person is a carbon copy of the next. Taking care not to step outside the norm, and to come out of the spiritual closet, in this environment, is wise. In the end, the white-collar archetype is a solution for mystics seeking a way to combine professionalism and spirituality, while still making evolutionary gains. For most people in today s modern world, this is a wise and effective approach.

8 Gypsy Psychic This archetype is the de facto defining image of psychic development. Simply search the word clairvoyant online and you ll find endless imagery of women who look like romanticized versions of classic Middle Eastern gypsies... wearing head scarfs and hooped ear rings, hovering over giant crystal balls... It s the classic fortune-teller archetype. While we may not all like it, this is what it is. It s still the most representative picture of the psychic in the collective consciousness of our society. There are pros and cons with this archetype, just like there are with every personality type. These gypsies historically took their psychic abilities very seriously, and were willing to stand up for what they believed in. They would teach their children at a young age to be clairvoyant, skilled in the arts of spiritual practice. Religious people eventually started claiming that they were scams and they developed a very bad rap throughout Europe as being swindlers. It is true that the gypsy lineage had a lot of poverty, but that had more to do with religious and governmental abuse and discrimination, methinks. The big takeaway from the gypsy psychic archetype is the perseverance and devotion to one s own spiritual practices. These gypsies helped preserve and innovate the usage of tarot cards and many other tools for soothsaying and psychic work. A romantic, passionate attitude toward spirituality is usually possessed by these practitioners, and that s extremely honorable.

9 The cons are that the gypsy image is a huge turnoff to many modern people. The gypsies were considered inferior and unfortunately that stigma has remained in the collective consciousness. That image is now the common theme of number telephone hotline psychics, to which many charlatans gravitate. Shamanic Aborigine Shamanic aborigines are the MOST nature-friendly. This spiritual archetype is derived DIRECTLY from nature, as most of these characters actually live in the wilderness. Aborigines still hunt animals with the intention of respecting their body by using it for food and clothing, out of necessity and not luxury. Shamanism is well-known for its journeying, which involves going out of body and attempting to access the astral realms, beyond the planes of duality. It s not unusual for shamanic practitioners to assume the name of an animal, or creature that they believe is their totem spirit or power animal... that is, they share an energetic resonance with the qualities of that being. To tap into the current of shamanic wisdom, you need to seek to understand the way nature works, and begin opening yourself up what is known as the spirit world. The foundational belief of shamanism is that the living practitioners are messengers or intermediaries sent down into this realm, in order to help other people access higher levels of enlightenment in the spirit world. The downside of shamanism are that it s difficult for modern people to actively relate, as they often wear animal skins, face paint, and dance around fires, etc. One of the core beliefs of shamanism is that all things have a spirit. Animism is a prevailing concept throughout shamanism, and that can be hard for

10 westerners to grasp. For example, how could an inanimate object like a stone have a spirit? But when we think in terms of auras rather than spirits it might give us a clue into what they really mean. Perhaps they re referring to the fact that all things have living energy fields around them, called auras, because rocks and other inanimate objects, also have clairvoyantly visible energies. It can help to consider here that all things are capable of containing spirit. Every living and non-living thing is a part of Source. Therefore everything contains Source energy and is capable of expressing Source consciousness. Shamanism has had a resurgence, as almost ALL of the spiritual archetypes have in the last 20 years, with shamanic centers opening around the world. Voodoo Witchdoctor This archetypal strand of spiritual practice is mysterious to most people. A layman might ask, Aren t these the people who stick needles in dolls to hurt their enemies? Yes, but these practices have popped up in many different archetypes, and not just with Voodoo. Beyond that, Voodoo has a very solid foundation in psychic development, otherworldly awareness, magick, and spiritual evolution. Voodoo originated in Africa, became integrated with Christianity there, migrated over to the Caribbean, and even to parts of America and South America with the slave trade. This tradition is still alive and active, and growing, today.

11 Like other belief system and schools, Voodoo witchdoctors and priests have a hierarchy of deities and loas and a specific code of ethics and behavior which they follow. Furthermore, like shamanism, it is primarily an ecstatic religion, in that it bases its spiritual work on going inward for journeying and spirit communication. Voodoo has to be one of the most adaptable belief frameworks in the world, as it tends to integrate with other religions. For example, in Africa Voodoo has integrated with the Catholic religion. Despite its proven efficacy in helping practitioners to develop psychic powers, this archetype is rare in the mainstream. And this has its good and bad sides. The Voodoo system is in this way more protected from Western adaptation and dilution than other magickal and spiritual practices. On one hand, the relative purity of the religion, rites, and techniques are preserved. If you manage to acquire the source-work for doing Voodoo rituals for psychic and magick, then you re likely to have success. But on the other hand, this archetype is so obscure, that it s difficult to find a Voodoo institute, mentor, or collection of reputable educational materials to utilize. Voodoo is extremely interesting and could provide great results for aspirants that connect with its vision and attitude and spiritual practices. The Western Priest If you re reading this, you may be scratching your head wondering why the Western Priest is one of the archetypes for spiritual growth.

12 The Roman Catholic Church is steeped in ancient magickal rituals and ceremonies, capable of inducing powerful psychic altered states in its practitioners. To be clear, the modern white-washed sanitized version of Catholicism that the masses of people flock to has evolved to become something VERY different. Roman Catholicism, or really ANY derivation of Christianity, at its core is based on ancient mythological sun worship. At the heart of this solar cult is an astrological foundation that enables practitioners to tap into natural forces for enhanced rites and psychic experiences. The western priest tends to have an academic or scholarly base, with a particular devotion to following intricate ritual details and ceremonial observances. This archetype has a basis on Abrahamic-angelic-demonic hierarchies that they attend to with their evocation and worship-oriented rituals of magick. It s likely that the western priest and pagan witch archetypes have a lot in common beneath the surface, in their scholarly inheritance. It s possible that at some point in Old Europe, the two broke away from each other and followed separate directions, with the western priest archetype coming into favor with royalty, while the traditional pagans were labeled as heretics, even though they shared roots. Whether you love or hate western religion, the Roman Catholic priest archetype should be admired for its incredible scholarship and academia in the area of mythology. The Vatican is a powerhouse of global knowledge. New Ager

13 Since the 1960s, the New Age movement as it is known today, has sought to integrate and harmonize a hodge-podge of various spiritual archetypes. And in the process, it has turned into its own distinct archetype. At present, being called a New Ager has a slightly negative connotation, and some even claim the movement was founded conspiratorially by the government for purposes of mind control... but no matter what the truth might be, the New Age movement has brought about a renewed fervor and excitement for alternative spiritual beliefs and practices. And that, in and of itself, is a very good thing. The New Age is marked by a desire to learn astral projection, aura-viewing, energy work, and spirit intelligences. While all of these practices are existent in each of the previously stated archetypes, there are SCORES of books labeled under the category of New Age promising to teach these. The pros of this personality type are that they tend to be very open-minded, accepting people, since they re busy synthesizing and understand a diverse number of spiritual and psychic practices and schools of thought. The cons are that, in general, society holds New Agers to be kooky and eccentric... and not necessarily in a good way. To make use of this archetype, simply realize there is more than any one way to view the world and spirituality, and respect the beliefs of others. Getting Beyond Labels Again, the best thing any spiritual practitioner can do is to go BEYOND all of these archetypes and not seek labels. Instead, you should create your own unique

14 category of work. Be your own school of thought and develop your own genre of spiritual psychic development. That s the best piece of advice I can give on this, and this will help you advance your spirituality further than anything else.
