Reen (Rene, Irene) Deveraux, who provided the opening and closing songs, was the English-born wife of actor Ed Devereaux who appeared in the film. They had four sons together, and separated in She died of cancer in 2001, followed by Deveraux, who died in 2003 of cancer at the age of 78. Under her maiden name Irene Champion, she also wrote the song for the Skippy spin-off feature film The Intruders (aka Skippy and The Intruders).
