Family prayer God, our Father, make us a family. We need one another, we love one another. We work together, we play together, we worship together. Together we use God s work, together we grow in Christ, together we love all people, together we serve our God, together we hope for Heaven. These are our hopes and ideals. Help us to achieve them, O God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

CARDINAL NEWMAN Catholic school John Henry Newman (21 February 1801 11 August 1890) also referred to as Cardinal Newman and Blessed John Henry Newman, was an important figure in the religious history of England in the 19th century. Originally an evangelical Oxford academic and priest in the Church of England, Newman was a leader in the Oxford Movement. This influential grouping of Anglicans wished to return the Church of England to many Catholic beliefs and forms of worship traditional in the medieval times to restore ritual expression. In 1845 Newman left the Church of England and was received into the Roman Catholic Church where he was eventually granted the rank of cardinal by Pope Leo XIII. He was instrumental in the founding of the Catholic University of Ireland which evolved into University College, Dublin, today, the largest university in Ireland. Newman's beatification was officially proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI on 19 September 2010 during his visit to the United Kingdom. His canonisation is dependent on the documentation of additional miracles. Newman was also a literary figure of note: his major writings including his autobiography Apologia Pro Vita Sua (1865 66), the Grammar of Assent (1870), and the poem The Dream of Gerontius (1865), which was set to music in 1900 by Edward Elgar as an oratorio. He wrote the popular hymns "Lead, Kindly Light" and "Praise to the Holiest in the Height". Cardinal Newman Catholic School, also referred to as Newman or CNS is a Roman Catholic Voluntary aided secondary school and sixth form catering for pupils aged between 11 and 18, located in the Warden Hills area of Luton, England. Opened in September 1968, the school is named after the famous cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, Blessed John Henry Newman. The school was opened in September 1968 under the headship of Mr William Davies. There were only two year groups, the first year (as it was called then) which had five classes and a second year consisting of pupils who had already completed their first year in other noncatholic senior schools in the town. Year two had three classes. It was not until September 1971 that the school had year groups from one to five. The Sixth Form was opened in September 1974. In the early years there were three houses identified by a colour rather than by a name or title. The Main school is split into Tutor Groups or Houses, which are named after notable Cardinals of Westminster - Wiseman (W), Hinsley (H), Manning (M), Vaughan (V), Godfrey (G), Griffin (Gr). Heenan (He) and Hume (Hu) were added in the 1970s. A new Tutor Group was created in 2007 called John Paul (JP) to cope with a particularly large Year Group at the time.

Cardinal newman prayer Link in a chain God has created me to do him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which he has not committed to another. I have my mission; I never may know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I have a part in a great work; I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good, I shall do His work; I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place, while not intending it, if I do but keep His commandments and serve Him in my calling.

SACRED HEART Primary School Sacred Heart Primary School first opened in 1962 following fund raising by Sacred Heart Parish, when all parishioners were asked to donate at least five shillings a week for forty-eight months. The parishioners were also asked to learn this prayer by heart and say it everyday for Our Catholic Children. Dear Jesus have pity on your little children. Help us to build the schools in which they are taught to know and love Thee, and never let us lose the Faith for which our martyrs died. Pictures and statues of the Sacred Heart of Jesus show a crown of thorns around Jesus heart, reminding us of when Jesus was given a crown of thorns before he died on the cross for us. But despite the crown of thorns the Sacred Heart of Jesus is aflame with love for us all. The Sacred Heart of Jesus reminds us of God s powerful love for us all, despite the things we do wrong. At Sacred Heart Primary we strive to live as Jesus showed us as we learn about Jesus and his love for us. We remember this in our Mission Statement Jesus at the Heart of all that we do. We hope that the parishioners who worked so hard to build our school are very proud of our school today.

ST. JOSEPH S Primary School The school was opened in September in 1955. The Bishop visited the school officially on our Feast Day of our Patron Saint, St. Joseph the Worker on 1st May 1956. St Joseph s Infant School opened in April 1963 having been previously sited in the Junior School building. St Joseph s Infant and Junior Schools joined to become St Joseph s Primary School in 2015. The school serves the parishes of St Joseph the Worker, Holy Family, St Johns and Holy Ghost. The school community is made up of many different ethnic backgrounds and cultures who all work together to ensure that the school s mission statement lies at the heart of everything that happens at St Josephs. There is a sense of real purpose and harmony based on Catholic principles, revealed in such personal qualities as consideration, respect and endeavour. Pope Pius XII established the feast of St. Joseph the Worker in 1955. Even before this, Joseph had been used by many Popes through the ages as a model for fathers and families, a protector of working men and a patron of social justice. Workers everywhere can adopt St. Joseph as their role model. He was hard working, humble and courageous. Although poor, with few material possessions, he worked cheerfully and faithfully in his vocation. St. Joseph was a carpenter and worked hard at his trade. He was chosen by God to be a husband to Mary and earthly Father to Jesus. He looked after and provided for Mary and Jesus with kindness and care. The Bible tells us very little about St. Joseph and does not contain even one word spoken by this carpenter of Nazareth. However, by his actions Joseph was able to demonstrate his deep faith and love for God.

ST. JOSEPH S ks1 school prayer Morning Prayers 1 Father in heaven I give you today. All that I think and do and say. 2 Thank you God for this new day In my school to work and play Please be with me all day long In every story game and song may all the happy things we do Make you, Our Father happy too. 3. Two little hands to do his will And one little heart to love him still. School Prayer May the peace of the Father fall on this school. May the love of Jesus fill this school. May the Spirit of God give energy to this school.

ST JOSEPH S KS2 school prayer This is our school, let peace dwell here, Let the room be full of contentment, Let love abide here, Love of one another, Love of mankind, Love of life itself and love of God. Let us remember that, as many hands build a house, So many hearts make a school. Amen

ST. Margaret of Scotland catholic primary School St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Primary School is a voluntary aided Catholic School, which caters for children aged 4 11 years. It was founded in 1960 to educate children of Catholic families from the Deanery of St Albans. Children who attend the school usually worship at one of the following three parishes: St Margaret of Scotland Our Lady Help of Christians Holy Ghost The aim of St Margaret of Scotland Catholic Primary School is to establish an educative community centred on Christ so that his values and attitudes to life pervade everything. Ideally this should take place in an environment of faith where life has meaning, where there is hope and a positive and confident attitude towards the future. We aim to provide an environment which displays care and concern for all, showing compassion and forgiveness, and to educate not only the mind but also the body, the emotions, the character and spiritual life of each child a place which is full of love. We seek to work closely with parents, parishes and the local community valuing their partnership and involvement in the school mission as an instrument in building up the Kingdom of God. This will provide the framework for widening horizons, which will help towards an understanding of the world in which we live, and promote respect and tolerance of other races, religions and ways of life.

St. Margaret of Scotland catholic primary school prayer This is our school, May all here, live happily together. May our school be full of joy. May love dwell here among us every day. Love of all people everywhere Love of life itself and love of god. Let us remember that as many hands build a house, so every child can make this school a lovely place. Amen

ST. martin de pores catholic primary School The school is named after St Martin de Porres who was born in Lima, Peru in 1579 to a Spanish nobleman and a freed slave from Panama. His father left Martin s mother and Martin grew up in poverty. However, he always helped those around him who he considered to be less fortunate than himself. He worked with the Dominican order nursing the sick, raising money for the poor and establishing an orphanage and hospital in the slums for children. St Martin never forgot his humble origins and through his life demonstrated that he was a man who was deeply concerned about racial justice. He died on November 3 rd 1639. He was canonised in 1962 by Pope John XX111. St Martin is the patron saint of mixed-race people and of all those seeking interracial harmony. The school is situated on Pastures Way in Lewsey Farm. The school opened on 21 st April 1969 as separate Infant and Junior schools. Mr Scott Boydell was the first Head teacher of the Junior school and Miss Pat Williams was the first Head teacher of the Infant school.

St. martin de porres catholic primary school prayer This is our school. Let peace dwell here Let the rooms be full of contentment. Let love abide here; Love of one another, Love of all people, Love of life itself And love of God. We pray to St. Martin that we, like him, Will treat others with care, concern and respect. Today, let us work together in the light of the Lord.

St. MARY S catholic Primary School St. Mary s is a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary School, catering for both Catholic and non-catholic children from age 3 to 11 from a wide area in and around Dunstable. At St. Mary's, Christ is at the centre of everything we do. We aim to achieve this by following our mission, 'In God's love we learn and grow.' The children, parents, staff and Governors of St. Mary's are very proud of our school. St. Mary's is a warm, welcoming community where everyone genuinely does matter. All of our children are treated as individuals and are supported by committed, passionate staff who aim to nurture a life long love of learning and enable all children to achieve their true potential.

ST. MARY S catholic Primary school prayer This is our School: Let Peace dwell here - Let the rooms be full of contentment - Let Love abide here, Love of one another, Love of mankind, Love of Life itself, And, love of God. Let us remember: As many hands build a house - So many hearts make our School

St. vincent S PRiMARY ScHOOl St Vincent s Catholic Primary School opened its doors to 65 pupils on Thursday 5 th September 1974. The day was wet, the surrounds were muddy, but there were smiles all around. On the 2 nd of October Bishop Grant came to open and bless St. Vincent s Lower School. In September 2000 we extended our provision to provide nursery education. We extended our provision again in 2008 to provide Catholic Education for local children aged between 9 and 11, we became St. Vincent s Catholic Primary School. Our Patron Saint is St. Vincent who was born in 1581 in Pouy, France to a family of peasant farmers. He became a priest who dedicated himself to serving the poor. St Vincent was renowned for his compassion, humility and generosity and is known as the "Great Apostle of Charity". He was canonized in 1737. We celebrate his Feast Day on the 27 th September. In our school we take the mission of Jesus Christ as the centre of all that we do. The home, parish and school come together to provide a caring family atmosphere through practising the Gospel teachings of love, trust and forgiveness. We value each member of our school treating everyone with respect and courtesy.
