At Epiphany, a special time-share with the Lord, takes place on Monday s from 4-7pm. Concerns and challenges, spoken or unspoken, are part of life. Consider carrying your personal concerns to the Lord. The gathering of the faith community gives honor and praise to the Lord and prayer is offered for one another. Private prayer and/or stillness is left to you as is the amount of time you spend in the worship area. St. Vincent DePaul In this Gospel the love that Jesus reveals through the symbol of the cross is: self-giving, sacrificial, healing, forgiving, in solidarity with the weak, confident in the power of God. During the hot summer months many of the elderly, especially those who are sick, are not able to find relief from the heat. Please help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to bring respite and hope to them. Your monetary donations may be left in the Poor Box. A second way to donate is by leaving any unwanted, slightly worn clothing in the clothing bins on the Parish Hall property. Thank you and God bless you. Gospel: John 6:51-58 Jesus had just told the crowd that anyone who ate of the bread he planned to give would live forever, and that this bread was his flesh, which he would give up for the sake of the world. The people do not understand, but Jesus reassures them that his flesh is real food and that those who feed on this bread shall live forever. Brothers and sisters. Watch carefully then how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise, making the most of the opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not continue in ignorance, but try to understand what is the will of the Lord but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and playing to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks always The apostle Paul knew his people well. With encouraging words he taught them, corrected them, and warned them. Do I realize that they are also directed to me today? We are careful about many, many things each day. We fastened our seat belts, placed the infants in their car seats, make sure the smoke alarms are functioning and lock the door securely. We should also show the same care for our spiritual lives. We would promise in the prayer of contrition to avoid the near occasion of sin. In our day and age, as well as that of the Ephesians, it is not easy. We are bombarded from every side, challenged, tempted, yes assaulted by the evil one. Only through a strong, vibrant prayer life can we both resist evil and not fall at times of temptation. For the gift of grace, we are able to express our thanks. myparish App For Catholic life every day. Connect with your parish like never before.
