Proverbs 29-7 Tips For Living A Full And Satisfying Life 1. Proverbs 29:6 (NIV) [6] An evil man is snared by his own sin [ If you play with sin, it will seize you sooner or later To those who have little or no regard for God, sin is bait in a trap those who do not know God are taken captive by their own sins ], but a righteous one can sing and be glad [ those who live in a right relationship with God can sing, celebrate and be happy because they have victory over sin... the son or daughter of God has been set free their old sinful, unhealthy, selfdefeating behavioral habit and attitudes that caused chaos, confusion, conflict and calamity in their lives, so they celebrate with great joy... godly people are happy, joyous and free because they have been delivered from the power of sin the righteous escape the trap of temptation and sin and they shout for joy ]. When you resist the devil and submit to God, here is what you will find Living God s way brings freedom to enjoy life; living the devil s way leads to entrapment by your sinful desires. Proverbs 11:6 When it comes to sin, I am not a victim, I am a volunteer. Proverbs 6:2 Moral character makes for a happy life but neglecting God s way leads to a hard times. Proverbs 11:5 This old girl applied for a job in a Florida lemon grove. She had a liberal arts degree from the University of Michigan and had worked as a social worker and school teacher. The foreman who interviewed her said, You are over qualified for this job. Do you had any experience in

picking lemons?" "Well, as a matter of fact, I do! I have been married and divorced three times, I have owned 2 Chryslers and voted for Obama." 2. Proverbs 29:7 (NIV) [7] The righteous care about justice for the poor [ The sons and daughters of God care about the rights of the poor men of God know and are concerned about the needs of the poor The upright man gives attention to the cause of the poor. ], but the wicked have no such concern [ those who do not know God don t care one bit about the poor... The wicked does not understand the concern of the righteous for the poor those who have little or no regard for God have no interest in knowing about the needs of the poor the selfcentered person gives no thought to the concerns or needs of the poor because they are consumed by their selfish desires ]. When you give attention to the needs of the poor, here is what you will find God blesses everyone who cares for the poor, and he rescues them in their times of trouble. Psalm 41:1 Speak up for the people who have no voice, for the rights of all the down-and-outers and God will speak up for you. Proverbs 31:8 If you won't help the poor when they ask for help, don't expect to be heard when you ask for help. Proverbs 21:13

Mother Teresa tells of visiting in Australia. A new recruit to the Franciscan order in Australia was assigned to be her guide and gofer during her stay. She tells how he was thrilled and excited at the prospect of being around her for a week and how he wanted to learn from her. But during her visit, this new monk became frustrated. He was near her, he never had the opportunity to talk with Mother Teresa. There were always other people for her to meet. Finally, her tour was over, and she was due to fly to New Guinea. In desperation, he spoke to Mother Teresa. If I pay my own fare to New Guinea, can I sit next to you on the plane so I can talk to you and learn from you? Mother Teresa looked at him. You have enough money to pay airfare to New Guinea? she asked. Oh, yes, he replied eagerly. Then give that money to the poor and you will learn more from that than anything I can tell you. 3. Guard your anger Proverbs 29:11 (NIV) [11] A fool [ a fool is not someone who has a mental deficiency but someone who has a spiritual deficiency ignorant of spiritual truth lack spiritual qualities thumbs his noses at godly wisdom, advice, instruction & discipline ] gives full vent to his anger [ quickly lose his temper A fool expresses all of his emotions, letting it all hang out Fools vent their anger saying whatever is on their mind Fools shouts in anger, blurting out whatever they are feeling Foolish people express their anger openly ], but a wise man keeps himself under control [ when he is angry, a wise man is still level-headed and patient he controls his emotions when he is angry, a wise man

governs his words he holds back some of the things he is tempted to say. a wise man holds his temper in and cools it ]. When you guard your anger, here is what you will find A gentle response defuses anger, but a sharp tongue kindles a temperfire. Proverbs 15:1 A fool is quick-tempered; a wise man stays cool when insulted. Proverbs 12:16 A person with a quick temper sins a lot. So, cool it and avoid trouble. Proverbs 29:22 When I was ready to check out and pay for my groceries, the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me." Making a mental note so I could complain to my local representative about this running amok Homeland Security garbage, I did just as she had instructed. After the shrieking and hysterical remarks finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to how I should position my credit card. Nonetheless, I've been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions a little clearer for seniors. Guard your anger 4. Correct your children

Proverbs 29:17 (NIV) [17] Discipline your son [ correct your children Give your children training restrain your children; you'll be glad you did when needed, punish your children to bring correction into their lives correction teaches wisdom, but a child left to himself brings disgrace ], and he will give you peace [ Disciplining you children can result in having peace, quiet and joy because of their obedience and behavior A wise son brings peace to his father, but a foolish son brings grief godly children will bring you peace of mind ]; he will bring delight to your soul [ they will bring you happiness they will be a delight to live with Your children can bring you great joy or great heart-ache; discipline results in delight ]. When you correct your children, here is what you will find A good spanking won't kill your kids, so don't hesitate to discipline them. Proverbs 23:13 Discipline your children while they are young enough to learn. If you don't, you are helping them ruin their lives. Proverbs 19:18 Correction and discipline are good for children. If you spoil them by letting them have their own way, they will embarrass and disgrace you. Proverbs 29:15 My mother peach trees dad knocking me down when I was 17 after I told him to take out the trash Guard your anger Correct your children

5. Obey God Proverbs 29:18 (NIV) [29:18] Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint [ When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild Where there is ignorance of God, crime runs wild If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves A nation without God's guidance is a nation without order Where there is no word from God, people are out of controlled Without guidance from God, law and order disappear ]; but blessed is he who keeps the law [ those who obey Gods Word are happy whoever submits to God s Word will be at peace with God there is great joy when we know and keep God s Word those who follow God's teachings find contentment in life those who yield to what they have been taught in God s Word will have fulfillment in life ]. When you obey God s Word, here is what you will find Keeping God s Word leads to blessings; careless living leads to disaster. Proverbs 19:16 God's Word warns me of danger and there is great reward in obeying it. Psalm 19:11 Want to be happy, then follow God s directions. Psalm 119:2 Roger Staubach joined the Dallas Cowboys in 1969. He played with the Cowboys in five Super Bowl, four as the primary starting quarterback. He led the Cowboys to victories in Super Bowl VI and Super Bowl XII. He was named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl VI becoming the first player to win the Heisman Trophy and Super Bowl MVP. He was named to the Pro Bowl six times during his eleven-year NFL career. ------ In one of this books, he admitted that his position as a quarterback who didn't call his own plans was a source of frustration for him for several years. Coach Tom Landry sent in every play. He told Roger when to pass, when to run and only in emergency situations could he change the play (and he had better be right!). Roger said, he considered Coach Landry to

have a "genius mind" when it came to football strategy, but his pride told him that he should be able to run his own team. Roger says it was only after I faced up to the issue of obedience to Coach Landry that he became the player God created him to be. He said once I learned to obey there was harmony, fulfillment, and victory. Guard your anger Correct your children Obey God 6. Guard your tongue Proverbs 29:20 (NIV) [20] Do you see a man who speaks in haste [ someone who speaks without thinking who always talk before they think who is quick to answer speaks too quickly quick with his tongue a man of quick temper he blurts out thoughtless, insensitive remarks answering before he listens To answer before listening is stupidity and brings disgrace to a person ]? There is more hope for a fool than for him [ he is worse than a fool brings trouble on himself and others ]. When you guard your tongue, here is what you will find Wise people use discernment when they speak, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness. They are like leaky faucets, dripping nonsense. Proverbs 15:2 The godly man thinks carefully before speaking; the wicked are sewers of abuse, spewing out garbage. Proverbs 15:28

The words of a fool start fights; do him a favor and gag him. A wise man listens before he speaks. Proverbs 18:6 Illustrate Osborne and his conversation with me you are jealous Guard your anger Correct your children Obey God Guard your tongue 7. Trust the Lord Proverbs 29:25 (NIV) Fear of man will prove to be a snare [ It is dangerous to be overly concerned with what others think about you fear of the opinions of others can put you out of action the opinion of others can disable you if you let the opinions of others determine what you do, you might not do anything fear deactivates you Fearing people is a dangerous trap Being afraid of people can immobilize you and lead to self-trouble ], but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe [ trusting in the Lord will protect you from the fear of the opinions of others. Security in the Lord removes intimidation by man If you will lean on, trust in, depend on and put your confidence in power of God, you will be keep from the fear of man decide that the Lord, not the opinions of others, will give direction to your life ]. When you trust the Lord, here is what you will find

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10 Walk straight, live right, trust the Lord and you will not fall. Proverbs 28:18 You are better off when you trust the LORD. Proverbs 28:25 There was a little boy and his sister visiting their grandparents on their farm. Johnny was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods; but, he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved! In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the woodpile; only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing. After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes. Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and said, "Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help," She whispered again to him, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help. After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's, he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you. Chuck Swindoll "And so it is with us. Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... And the devil keeps throwing it up in your face...whatever it is...you need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing. He has seen your whole life. He

wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you. I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25 Guard your anger Correct your children Obey God Guard your tongue Trust the Lord \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ SPIRITUAL SURVEY After presenting the plan of salvation and leading in a prayer of commitment, you can say I would like to get to have a personal conversation with each of you about your spiritual journey If I could, I d like to invite each of you to sit down and have a donut and a cup of coffee talk about what is going on in your life but I can t do that so if you would do a favor and participate in a personal survey I have ask some folks to help me they will be handing out a Spiritual Survey with some several questions Spiritual Survey Today s date: Name
