Jesus Feeds the Multitude The life and ministry of Jesus is sufficient to feed all. If we turn to Jesus, he has the power to supply what we need. Just as Jesus multiplied the fish and the loaves to feed the multitude, so today he offers us himself. Jesus Walks on Water Jesus is the Son of God who saves. Jesus was no ordinary man. He was more than a great teacher: Jesus was, and is, God. When the disciples in the boat saw Jesus walk on the stormy waves, they worshiped him as God. Take Up Your Cross Jesus faced the cross and we must follow him. In Luke 9:22, Jesus specifically predicted his death and resurrection, which is the core of the gospel. He continues in verse 23 to describe how the path to following him involves our own cross. The Transfiguration Jesus gave up his heavenly glory to take our sins upon the cross. Here, in a moment of time, three of the disciples had the opportunity to glimpse the holiness, glory, and power of Jesus as God. They knew Jesus, the man, but they didn t know Jesus the Son in glory. Jesus Cleanses Ten Lepers The forgiveness of our sin is the greatest healing we can receive. Though many Jews believed, the Jewish nation as a whole would reject Jesus as the Messiah. Many Gentiles, however, would gladly receive the gospel. Mark 4:35-5:20 Luke 8:22-39 John 6: 1-15 Matt 14:25 34 Luke 9:18 27 Mark 9:2 13 Luke 17: 11-19 Ask God to help you trust him when you are in danger or are afraid. Ask God to help you trust in Jesus to rescue you from your sins. Make a list of some of Jesus miracles and then praise him for them. Ask God to help you love Jesus and heaven more than riches here on earth. Ask God to help you spend time each day in prayer. Pray for all those you know who are sick and ask God to heal them. Thank Jesus for taking our sins on himself. Pray for all the people who still do not know that Jesus is the one who came in to the world to save us from our sins. Thank Jesus for coming to earth to suffer and die in our place. Thank Jesus for giving up the fullness of his glory to become a man so that he could die for us. Praise Jesus for his glorious power and thank him for giving up his glory to suffer and die in our place. Ask God to help you forgive those who sin against you. Praise God for healing people back in Jesus day and for giving

John 10 is one of the clearest pre-cross explanations of the ministry of Jesus. The gospel is explained throughout the entire shepherd/sheep analogy. Jesus says that he is the Good Shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. The Pharisee & the Tax Collector Our confidence is in the Lord alone. The Pharisee was a sinner just like the tax collector. He was trusting that his good works would get him into heaven. The Bible tells us that our good works can never get us into heaven (Ephesians 2:8 9). Lazarus Jesus is the resurrection and the life. The raising of Lazarus is a picture of the gospel. Death looks to claim people, but the plan of God through Jesus conquers death and brings salvation from its grasp. Jesus & Zacchaeus Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. Though it seems that Zacchaeus was trying to draw near to Jesus, it was in fact Jesus who came to save Zacchaeus. The mission of Christ to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10) remains his mission today. The Triumphal Entry The people celebrate their king while others plot his death. It is true that Jesus came to earth to be king. But he came as a heavenly king for a spiritual kingdom. The Widow s Offering The Lord looks into the heart of our offering. Are we willing to entrust everything we have to God, or is our faith limited to that which does not cost us? Jesus knows what is in our hearts. He can see by our actions who or what we really worship. John 10: 22-30 Luke 18:9 17 John 11:1 53 Luke 18:35 19:10 John 12:10 50 Luke 20:45 21:9 Ask God to open your mind and heart so that you can believe the message of the gospel. Praise God that he is perfect and spotless, without sin. Take turns confessing your sin and asking God for mercy. Praise God for his wonderful plan of salvation to take away our sins through Jesus, His son. Thank God for his control over all things, even life and death. Praise God for the way he cares for us even when we are upset. Praise God for saving Zacchaeus and giving him grace to repent. Ask God to help you turn away from a love for money or your toys or anything else tempting you to love it more than God. Ask God to pour out his Holy Spirit so that you might follow Jesus and give up your life to obey and serve him. Ask God to help you confess and not hide your sin, even when it makes you look bad to others. Ask God to help you trust him more so that, like the widow, you would trust him with your life.

Jesus God himself performed his greatest act of service for us by giving up his life for us. The events in the upper room were pointing ahead to what would soon happen in the crucifixion. The Last Supper The last supper was the last Passover. The Passover story points to the new covenant, which Jesus introduced at the Last Supper. A covenant is a promise or commitment. Jesus introduced his commitment and promise to the disciples. Jesus Promises to Send the Holy Spirit Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Jesus told his disciples that he was going to go to the Father in heaven and had asked the Father to send the Holy Spirit. The disciples didn t realize that in a few hours Jesus would be arrested, tried, and sentenced to death. Jesus Is Arrested Jesus offered no resistance to arrest, that we might be saved. Though Jesus did not defend himself, John records a fascinating glimpse at his authority and power. When Jesus answered the officials, saying, I am he, the officials drew back and fell to the ground. Peter Denies Jesus Even the most confident man will not stand apart from Jesus. So often we, like Peter, think we can follow Jesus in our own strength. We are just like Peter. It is only by the grace of God that we believe. The Crucifixion and the Criminals God s forgiveness is available, even to the worst sinners. Jesus was crucified with a criminal on his left and another on his right. The object of this lesson is to show that Jesus can save someone from eternal death in the last moment of their life. John 13:1 15 Luke 22:1 34 John 14:1 26 Matt 26:36 56 Matt 26:69 75 Luke 23:42 43 Thank Jesus for coming to earth to die on the cross to wash our sins away, and ask him to forgive and wash away your sins. Ask God s Holy Spirit to help you be a servant like Jesus. Ask God for grace to always follow Jesus and never turn away. Praise God for how he is in control of all things. Ask God to help you think more about Jesus and less about yourself and to live as a servant. Thank Jesus for preparing a place in heaven for us where we can live with him forever with no sickness, no sin, and no death. Thanks Jesus for sending his Holy Spirit to be with us forever as our Helper. Thank Jesus for not giving up on his mission. Pray that God would give the gift of faith to the people you know who do not believe that Jesus is God. Thank Jesus for not fighting back even when he could easily have done so. Ask God to help you forgive those who sin against you. Praise God for his control over everything in the universe and the love he showed us by planning our salvation through his Son, Jesus.

The death of Christ is the heart of the gospel. Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22). Jesus was the Lamb of God who was slain so that we could be forgiven for our sins. The Resurrection Even though Jesus truly rose from the dead, not everyone believes. The resurrection is not an add-on to the cross. It is an integral part of the gospel message without which the gospel would have no power! Doubting Thomas Jesus calls to faith all who are his. Jesus explained that he himself was the central theme of Scripture. Yet, Thomas, who was absent, did not believe. He was in need of gospel truth. Another Miraculous Catch Those who belong to the Lord are sustained by him. Jesus demonstrated his power again to the disciples through a second miraculous catch of fish. The Great Commission The Gospel fulfills God s promise to Abraham. The salvation of Jesus Christ is not limited to the Jews, but is to go to all nations and all peoples. The Ascension Jesus left the earth, but he will come again. If there were any lingering doubts that Jesus was God, they were silenced at his ascension. Pentecost The promised Holy Spirit is poured out. The promised blessing to Abraham has been fulfilled. With the arrival of the Spirit of God, the disciples were free to begin the advance of the gospel to people of every tribe, language, and nation. Matt 27:27 61 Matt 27:62 28:16 John 20:19 31 John 21:1 25 Matt 28:16 20 Acts 1:1 14 Acts 1:15 2:12 Take time to confess to God that you are a sinner. Then thank Jesus for being willing to be mocked and beaten as our substitute so he could deliver us from our sins. Ask God to help the unbelievers you know to accept the truth that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and rose again from the dead. Praise God for how the whole Bible points to the gospel. Praise Jesus as the light of the world and the light of heaven. Thank God that even when we are not looking for him, he is looking for us. Ask God to forgive you for the sins you have committed. Ask God to help each person in your family believe that Jesus really did die on the cross and rise again for our sins. Then ask God to help you place your trust in him. Thank Jesus for sending the disciples and all of us his Holy Spirit to help us, teach us and give us power to tell everyone about Jesus. Ask the Lord to help you remember that he knows your heart and everything you do so that you will not want to sin against him.

Immediately following the outpouring of the Spirit on Pentecost, Peter addressed the crowd. Emboldened by the Holy Spirit s power, Peter interpreted the prophets and connected their prophecies to the outpouring of the Spirit and the gospel message. New Believers The message of the gospel is effective to save and change sinful hearts. The behavior of the very first converts in the book of Acts shows us the fruit of the gospel through the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives. These people were transformed from being mockers of Christ. The Lame Beggar Walks There is power in the name of Jesus. It was in the name of Jesus that the beggar was healed, and it was the name and gospel of Christ that Peter brought to the crowd and the religious rulers. After healing the crippled beggar, Peter was not going to miss an opportunity to share the gospel. Ananias & Sapphira The spirit of God is poured out in grace, discipline and power. Ananias and Sapphira sold a field, and they pretended to give all the money to the apostles while keeping some of it for themselves. The Death of Stephen God can work the sin of man for the good of his saving plan. Stephen, like Jesus, was spreading the gospel of the kingdom with power. The religious rulers were angered that the old covenant was being minimized for a new covenant of grace. Acts 2:14 41 Acts 2:42 47 Acts 3:1 4:31 Acts 4:32 5:11 Acts 6:8 7:60 Ask God to help unbelieving family and friends place their trust in Jesus and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Ask God to help you believe and put his Spirit in your heart to change you to be like him. Thank the Lord for giving us the most valuable inheritance of all time, the forgiveness of our sins and the Holy Spirit to live within us and enable us to live for Jesus. Praise God the same way the crippled man did when he was healed. Thank Jesus for giving us these wonderful Bible stories to help us believe. Ask God to help you fear the Lord so that you will honor him by staying away from sin. Praise God for the miraculous way he poured out his power on the early church. Pray for the people around the world who are persecuted, or hurt, for believing in Jesus. Pray that God would help you to love Jesus like Stephen did instead of turning away from Jesus like the Jews in the story.

When God gives us new life, he opens our blinded eyes to see our sin, so we can repent. This is what happened to Saul. The Gentiles are Converted The Gospel is offered to all nations. This week we will learn how God called Peter to eat kinds of food he thought were not good to eat and how God used that to teach Peter to share the gospel with the Gentiles. The Fruit of the Spirit The fruit of the spirit marks the lives of every Christian. You can tell if the Spirit of God lives in a person by the fruit of the Spirit at work in their lives. This week we will learn to recognize the fruit of the Spirit. The Body of Christ We are called to work and serve together. This week we will learn how Christians are to work together as a team. Acts 9:1-19 Acts 10 Gal 5:1 6:1 I Corin 12:12-31 Praise God for the way he used the persecution in today s scripture to reach more people with the gospel so they would have a chance to believe in Jesus and be forgiven. Thank Jesus for dying on the cross to save people from every nation. Thank God for making a way for your family to know the story of Jesus and how he came to save us. Thank Jesus for setting us free from the law by following the law perfectly for us, then dying for our sins and rising again in victory. Pray that God would help you always remember that all our gifts are meant to serve the body of Christ for the glory of God, not for our own glory. Ask God to show your family, as a part of the body of Christ, ways you can serve and reach out to the lost.
