Sunday, November 4, 2018 Reading: 1 Kings 5:1-15a Worship Leaders: Pastor Meredith Bedker Musaus, Vicar Hans Becklin Worship Asst./Lectors: Scott Steinke, Doug Dettmers, Carolyn Schellhaas, John Ganoung ANNOUNCEMENTS & REMINDERS Consecration Weekend November 10th & 11th Consecrate: dedicated to a sacred purpose Why do we take time to reflect on what we will return to the Lord through our financial offerings? Because God is good! Celebrate our awesome God, the ministries of God s church, Holy Cross, and the ELCA! Consecration Weekend will not only be filled with beautiful music, but we will also hear Holy Cross member Mike Naumann preach about a time to consecrate our commitment to God s ministries that are carried out by the people of Holy Cross. We are pleased to announce that Minneapolis based singer/songwriter Rachel Kurtz will join us for worship for Consecration Weekend. Rachel has been electrifying crowds in Atlanta s Georgia Dome, New Orleans Superdome, Texas Alamo Dome, and hundreds of other concert venues and congregations from coast to coast. She was also a headliner at the recent National Youth Gathering in Houston. You will be blessed! Don t miss this rare and special opportunity. Advent by Candlelight - Behold the Light An afternoon of fellowship and spiritual preparation for Christmas is being sponsored by the Evangelism Team. All women of Holy Cross are invited to attend this new event. The Gathering Place will be filled with 12 beautiful holiday tables, each one decorated in a different Christmas theme/color by one of our hostesses. After a fellowship time with refreshments, we will move to the sanctuary for a special Advent service with seasonal music and scripture. Please consider joining us, and think about inviting other women-family and friends that would enjoy the afternoon. Space is limited, so please sign up as soon as possible. When: Sunday, December 2nd from 3:30-5:30pm Signup: In the Gathering Place or on the Event Sign Up sheet Contact: Diane Jewell at didijewell@aol.com or 262 255-0980

Eras Senior Network Holiday Giving Program Holy Cross is working with Eras Senior Network to provide holiday gifts to seniors living in Waukesha County. Eras Senior Network is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage and support seniors in leading meaningful lives. This may be the only gift they receive this Christmas. A table will be set up in the Gathering Place for you to donate toward a gift, or purchase a gift card. When: Saturday, November 10th thru Sunday, December 2nd Contact: Ellie Schmidtke at cedellie@yahoo.com or 262-251-2740 Holy Cross Mission Endowment Grants Annual distributions by the Mission Endowment Board are made available at the end of the calendar year. This money comes from previous gifts to the Mission Endowment Fund and the interest this account accrues. Each year five percent of the fund is given to three areas: ELCA churchwide ministries, the local community, and initiatives within Holy Cross. The total given in 2017 was $9,500. We encourage individuals and organizations to apply for these funds. The deadline for applications is December 10th. Once the applications are received, they will be reviewed by the board. Awards typically range between $500 and $2,000 based on the by-laws of the board and the merit of the event. Contact: Dave Jewell at dkjewell@aol.com or 262-255-0980 JAM-Jesus And Me We invite all three-year-old through second-grade kids to learn the Bible story about how Jesus loves them and wants to be with them forever.
