WHEN GOD SENDS A BABY Exodus 2:1-10

EXODUS 33:8-9 Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would stand up, each one at the door of his tent, and they would watch Moses until he entered the tent. When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and remain at the entrance to the tent, and the LORD would speak with Moses.

EXODUS 33:10-11 As all the people saw the pillar of cloud remaining at the entrance to the tent, they would stand up, then bow in worship, each one at the door of his tent. The LORD spoke with Moses face to face, just as a man speaks with his friend.

THE CHOICE OF MOSES MOTHER

EXODUS 1:1-2 Now a man from the family of Levi married a Levite woman. The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son; when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months.

EXODUS 1:3-4 But when she could no longer hide him, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with asphalt and pitch. She placed the child in it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile. Then his sister stood at a distance in order to see what would happen to him.

THE MERCY OF PHARAOH S DAUGHTER

EXODUS 2:5-6 Pharaoh s daughter went down to bathe at the Nile while her servant girls walked along the riverbank. Seeing the basket among the reeds, she sent her slave girl to get it. When she opened it, she saw the child a little boy, crying. She felt sorry for him and said, This is one of the Hebrew boys.

EXODUS 2:7-9 Then his sister said to Pharaoh s daughter, Should I go and call a woman from the Hebrews to nurse the boy for you? Go, Pharaoh s daughter told her. So the girl went and called the boy s mother. Then Pharaoh s daughter said to her, Take this child and nurse him for me, and I will pay your wages. So the woman took the boy and nursed him.

EXODUS 2:10 When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, Because, she said, I drew him out of the water.

How does baby Moses point to Jesus?

MATTHEW 2:13-14 After they were gone, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Get up! Take the child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to search for the child to destroy Him. So he got up, took the child and His mother during the night, and escaped to Egypt.

MATTHEW 2:15-16 He stayed there until Herod s death, so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled: Out of Egypt I called My Son. Then Herod, when he saw that he had been outwitted by the wise men, flew into a rage. He gave orders to massacre all the male children in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, in keeping with the time he had learned from the wise men.

1 TIMOTHY 1:14-15 And the grace of our Lord overflowed, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners and I am the worst of them.
