The missin team cnsisted f: 4 yuth & 3 adults frm 2 churches. We reached ut t surrunding cmmunities sharing the lve f Christ with: NT Bibles in Haitian-Crele, bags f rice & beans, gats, slar lights, evangelism and prayer, church marriage cnferences, puring a cncrete flr, spnsring schl kids fr a year and financial gifts handed t ministry leaders. U.C.I. - United Christians Internatinal Funders f UCI: JeanJean (prnunced Jhn Jhn) & Kristie Mmpremier started UCI in 2005 they nw have 65 churches under their cvering. JeanJean hsts a Pastr s mtg. each week (Gary had the privilege t speak t them). Sme f the Pastr s travel very lng distances t get t this meeting. Gary & Jnah: Pastrs Meeting at UCI UCI has grwn and cntinues t expand in building prjects, elementary schl schlarships and university students. UCI expects an influx f 300 University students in 2019. The ministry even caught the attentin f the president f Haiti and he made an fficial visit a cuple f years ag. Gd is awesme!! There are s many cmmunity needs and right nw JeanJean is in the negtiating stage f building a hspital. PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS! They knw Gd will prvide the funds and the means t begin building the hspital n UCI grunds. During ur time at UCI, a lcal missinary wman in desperate need f medical treatment came t JeanJean and Kristie s dr at 3am asking fr help. The nearest hspital is ver an hur away. They immediately gt dressed and drve her t the hspital. The missinary is ding fine, thanks t JeanJean & Kristie and their serving hearts. A yung man frm Califrnia, wh was saved at UCI, teaches and has helped lead the sccer camp fr the past 2 years. Just think f what WE can d as a missinary team in 1 week! Wilnt s Stry: One yung man, brn in adversity with a dream t change his natin. Wilnt with cmmunity children he has helped. The JOY f the LORD is ur strength! Wilnt (prnunced Will Knw) is an artist, single Dad, wrship leader at his lcal church, a Thelgy student at UCI and funder f Haitian Hpe Ministry. He has a visin t help families in the Mnac cmmunity f Central Haiti, wh are very, very pr. Wilnt was in High Schl when he adpted a little baby by wh wuld have had the terrible fate f grwing up in an rphanage. A yung father apprached Wilnt and was desperate fr smene t help him with his sn because he culd n lnger take care f him. Wilnt was living at hme and begged his Mm t let him keep the baby by. Wilnt s hme already had 9 children and Mendel wuld make 10. (Mendel is nw 10 yrs ld) Wilnt said he wuld wrk r d whatever he culd t pay fr the expenses f raising this child as his wn, his Mm finally agreed. Wilnt used his artistic talent t help prvide fr his sn and cntinues t sell his paintings fr funding fr his ministry. 5
Wilnt is helping a family f 7 with a tin rf. (Each tin is apprx. $40) A scripture that keeps Wilnt encuraged is: Philippians 4:13 I can d all things thrugh Christ which strengthens me. I am currently in cntact with Wilnt and pray that we develp a relatinship that will cntinue t grw s we can help him with his visin fr Haitian Hpe. Nelsn the Witchdctr (a Christian fr almst 6 years) Nelsn (frmer witchdctr) is n the left and JeanJean is in the red shirt Nelsn a frmer witchdctr came t the missin huse t speak with ur missin team. He had a pwerful testimny. He spke in Crele and JeanJean interpreted fr him. Smething interesting happened just as Nelsn was abut t begin t speak; the lights went ut fr abut 20 secnds In Haiti there is abslutely n electricity r lighting at night, it is pitch black. The ministry huse has lights that are run with a gas generatr. When the lights came back n there was a hush in ur midst and we all hung nt every wrd f Nelsn s testimny n hw he came t Christ. It was incredible! The reasn I like t mentin the witchdctrs is because; nce the witchdctr gets saved the whle cmmunity cmes t Christ and the spiritual climate changes frm darkness t Gd s marvelus light. JeanJean has UCI evangelism ministry teams that have a specific strategy; t target vd influenced cmmunities. T date, 29 witchdctrs have given their hearts t Jesus Christ thrugh the UCI evangelism ministry s far, they are fearless! 7
I tk ntes when Nelsn was speaking and here are sme f the things that he tld us. Witchdctrs are intrigued when they meet smene that is nt afraid f them. Fear is their weapn f destructin. They knw when smene is a Christian because the pwer f Gd is much greater than theirs. Witchdctrs are greatly feared by the Haitian peple. Vd has been perating in Haiti fr abut 200 years nw. Cmmunities knw which ritual is taking place because f the particular rhythm f the drums they hear in the distance. They call their meeting places - a huse f wrship. Nelsn nw evangelizes in ther cmmunities riddled with vd. The very 1 st time he went ut, 18 witchdctrs gave their lives t Christ. Nelsn has asked us t ask yu t keep him and his family in prayer, he has 3 children.
