Thou didst accept their praises; Accept the prayers we bring. Who in all good delightest, Thou good and gracious King! All glory, laud, and honor To Thee Redeemer, King To whom the lips of children Made sweet hosannas ring 4

*PRAYER of INVOCATION ACKNOWLEDGING GOD S GRACE *CONFESSION of FAITH The Scots Confession We confess and acknowledge one God alone, to whom alone we must cleave, whom alone we must serve, whom only we must worship, and in whom alone we put our trust. Who is eternal, infinite, immeasurable, incomprehensible, omnipotent, invisible; one in substance and yet distinct in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. By whom we confess and believe all things in heaven and earth, visible and invisible to have been created, to be retained in their being, and to be ruled and guided by his inscrutable providence for such end as his eternal wisdom, goodness, and justice have appointed, and to the manifestation of his own glory. 5

CONFESSION of SIN After silent confession, please, pray the following in unison O Lord our God, we come to you as your children and servants, grateful for your constant love and grace and aware of our sinful condition. We have broken your commandments. We have fallen short of your glory. We have not loved you with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. We acknowledge our guilt, and that apart from the saving grace of our Lord Jesus, we rightly fall under your judgment. Have mercy upon us, O Lord. Blot out our transgressions and forgive our sins. We pray in Jesus name. Amen. ASSURANCE of PARDON for BELIEVERS Psalm 130:7-8 (edited) Hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with Him is full redemption. And He will redeem His people from all their sins. 6

HYMN STORY All Glory, Laud, and Honor Charlemagne, King of the Franks, was a zealous defender of Christianity. Among his many religious reforms was the appointment of Theodulf as Bishop of Orleans. In addition to serving as a theological adviser to Charlemagne, Theodulf was also a scholar, educator, church reformer, and writer of several hymns. After Charlemagne s death, his son Louis became the emperor. Louis charged the Bishop of plotting against him. Theodulf was imprisoned in a monastery in western France. While in prison, he was reflecting on Christ s triumphal entry into Jerusalem before the crucifixion. The result was the hymn we now know as All Glory Laud and Honor. Although Theodulf died soon afterwards, this hymn has lived on for over a thousand years. John Neale translated it from Latin into English in the mid 19th century, and it has been sung in Palm Sunday services ever since. ANNOUNCEMENTS for SUNDAY MARCH 25 Lunch Bunch. Prayer for Those Searching for Truth Lord Jesus, You claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following You as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what You claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and show me the reality of who You are. Amen. Prayer of Belief Heavenly Father, I admit that I am more sinful than I ever before believed, but, through Your Son Jesus, I can be more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank You that He lived the life I should have lived, and paid the debt and punishment I deserved. Receive me now for His sake. I turn from my sins and receive Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Amen. Prayer for Those Struggling with Sin Lord Jesus, help me to look to You as the fulfillment of all my needs, and to turn from every false satisfaction to feed on You, the true and living bread. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely, and run with perseverance the race set before me, looking to You, the pioneer and perfecter of my faith. Amen. Prayer of Commitment Lord Jesus, You have called us to follow You in a life of committed discipleship in Your church. Grant that I may take the necessary steps to be one with Your people, and live in the fullness of Your Spirit. Amen 16
