Arizona Catholic Daughters December 2017 Arizona Reflections Greetings to my AZ CDA sisters, What a busy and hectic time of the year for all of us. I am thrilled to see and hear of all the many activities that your courts have been involved in these past few months. I know a number of you have had or plan in the near future to host a retreat, a day of reflection or some a type of spiritual gathering. As Catholic Daughters our two fold purpose is first spirituality and then our service to the many in need in your parishes and in your community. As we travel through the Advent season preparing for the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, it is a wonderful time to stop amid the holiday preparations to take some special time for you. It s a wonderful time to spend a little extra part of our day in prayer and remember the blessings of the season and the real Reason for the Season. I ask that you take time as a court to do the same and to give of yourselves and your court to help the many people who will be without this Christmas. What you can do to share your bounty to help the less fortunate this Christmas may be the light of new born King in their suffering. Remembering The way you give to others is the way God will give to you. Luke 6:38 Soon after the first of the year we will be electing nominating committees as we prepare for elections of officers in our local courts. Please pray for them as they do their job for the good of your court. And please pray and consider saying Yes Lord if you are asked to serve your court as an officer. It is an honor to be asked to serve your court and an opportunity for you to be a member of your court s board sharing your talents and ideas as you help in guiding your court in the coming two years. I will hold each of you and your family up in prayer this Christmas season that the Lord will bless you and keep you safe in His care. And I pray that the New Year will bring you health and happiness as you continue to Serve the Lord in Kindness Susan Mone, National Director Arizona State Board Chaplain Fr. Helping with wrapping books for Most Holy Trinity students to receive at the Breakfast with Santa on December 2 nd and also serving breakfast that morning. It s a great time for us to see the children enjoy sitting on Santa s lap and then receiving the book we wrapped. We had a few successful fundraisers and will have another mid- December with the book sale and Boutique for Radio Family Rosary. We have been participants for 40 years and hope to continue many more years. We look forward to celebrating out 35 th court anniversary in May. Celebrating with our seminarian who will be entering his final year before ordination, keeping him and the other seminarians in our prayers, as they reach their final devotion in the church. A Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! Message from Your State Regent: 2 The season of Advent is upon us. As we are busy trying to get those gifts for family and friends, let us not forget what this Season is all about. It s to prepare us for the Birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To remember the hardships Mary and Joseph endured in their travels to where Jesus was to be born and the no room at the inn for them. Let us remember to have a few bottles of water or some clothes for those we see on the streets of our towns and cities and offer them to those homeless individuals some hope of drink and warmth. It is a time of sharing with others that we are rewarded! As I prepare for my Christmas traditions of Polish foods, I can remember to add a few new foods to my menu to share with my Catholic Daughter Sisters and their families near and far. I will keep all of you in my prayers and thanksgiving grace for what I have received from you in encouragement and prayers this year. I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year. Blessings to all,
State Regent For the New Year of 2018: As we look forward to the New Year, let us not forget the experiences of the last. The workshops, retreats, State Convention, summer vacations and the regathering for another start of the Catholic Daughters year. We are already planning for the next National Convention, regents should have received a letter from National as to the number of delegates and alternates your court is allotted for the 2018 Convention in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. When you have your meeting in January or February to see who might be attending you need only send in numbers, AND also send a copy to your State Regent. This needs to be sent even if you have no one attending. As you plan for that special event, don t forget to invite your national director and the state officers, we would love to come celebrate with your court. I am happy to travel to be at your court meetings, day, night, weekdays or weekends. I already have been a guest at a few out of Phoenix area meetings and it was a great time for me to meet members and share with them. In January/February your court will be asking for volunteers for the nominating committee to select your new officers for the 2018 2020 years. Prayer on this, I have seen many members who would make great leaders in your courts: don t be afraid to say Yes. We are continuing with the two state fundraisers, they have been a great success for the state. I have/am sending a packet to Regents with two new prayer pillow cases for First Communion and Confirmation, show to your religious education staff member and see if they would promote them to the parents as a Special Gift for their children. Any of them make great gifts for adults and children. As your State Regent, I am here to help you and your courts, all you have to do is ask.
