O Praise The Name (Anástasis) I cast my mind to Calvary Where Jesus bled and died for me. I see His wounds, His hands, His feet. My Saviour on that cursed tree His body bound and drenched in tears They laid Him down in Joseph's tomb. The entrance sealed by heavy stone Messiah still and all alone O praise the name of the Lord our God O praise His name forever more For endless days we will sing Your praise And then on the third at break of dawn, The Son of heaven rose again. O trampled death where is your sting? The angels roar for Christ the King O praise the name of the Lord our God O praise His name forever more For endless days we will sing Your praise He shall return in robes of white, The blazing Son shall pierce the night. And I will rise among the saints, My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face O praise the name of the Lord our God O praise His name forever more For endless days we will sing Your praise Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I m found, Was blind, but now I see. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed. My chains are gone, I ve been set free, My God, my Saviour, has ransomed me; And like a flood His mercy reigns, Unending love, amazing grace. The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures. My chains are gone, I ve been set free, My God, my Saviour, has ransomed me; And like a flood His mercy reigns, Unending love, amazing grace. Election of Deacons and Officers for 2019 - Annual General Church Meeting 13th November 2018 All nominations MUST be given to the Church Secretary (Carol Moore), not later than Tuesday 23rd October 2018 Deacons There are up to 4 vacancies. Graham Kitts and Dave Timms are at the end of their terms as Deacons and will be stepping down. They will continue to support the Church in other capacities. If Helen Woolley is elected as an Officer, there are 4 vacancies. General Officers Current Officers are: Carol Moore (Secretary), Helen Woolley (Assistant Secretary), and Andrew Atkin (Treasurer). There is currently no Assistant Treasurer. The deacons have nominated All The Above to continue in their positions. Other candidates may be proposed if at least 10 (ten) Church members wished to nominate an alternative name for one of the positions. What are we looking for in a Deacon and an Officer? Candidates need the competencies to fulfil the responsibilities, but also, a bit more. A Deacon is a managing trustee of the Church. This is a legal responsibility. Not everyone is eligible. If in doubt, please speak to James or one of the Officers. We are looking to build upon the ethos established in 2014 from the SWOT analysis recognizing the importance of good governance, clear forward planning and vision implementation. Suggested Bible verses to consider: Acts 6: 1 8: the origins of Deacons. 1 Timothy 3: 8 13: some qualifications of a Deacon. Ephesians 4: 1 16 and Titus 1: 5 9 are also worth reflecting upon.
Election of Deacons and Officers for 2019 - Annual General Church Meeting 13th November 2018 Essentially we are looking for people who have maturity in character, spirituality and morality. We are also looking for those individuals who are able to contribute a skill to the Deaconate, such as in the areas of finance, human resources, worship, or building facilitation. But, most importantly, an individual that is a Deacon should be an encourager to others, and seek to build up the Church. Tasks: The Deacons act on behalf of the Church, in between Church Meetings, and are responsible for various areas of Church life, such as serving at Holy Communion, praying for Church leaders and attending meetings as required. If you wish to consider further what it means to be a Deacon, for yourself or in nominating someone else, please speak to James, or one of the current Deacons. Nomination Forms: The Nomination Forms will be available today. Please collect these from the Welcome Desk, after the Service. All completed nomination forms must be given to Carol Moore, Church Secretary, no later than Tuesday 23 rd October 2018. Election: The Election will take place at the Church A.G.M. on Tuesday 13 th November 2018.
