Excerpt from the Sermon Journal, Monday, September 24, 2018 Written by Pastor Tom Harrison I Believe in the Holy Spirit Because the word used to describe the third Person of the Godhead is sometimes called The Holy Ghost, it has always made me feel somewhere between anxious and afraid. I have no incentive to hang around with a ghost. I thought when the Holy Ghost came on someone, they would end up pregnant or doing something weird, like speaking in tongues (which IS a spiritual gift, BTW). Holy Spirit is somewhat vague but is still better. I like what Jesus called the Holy Spirit comforter, counselor and guide. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus (Acts 16:7; Romans 8:9; Galatians 4:6). He walks with us through life and recreates the life of Jesus within us. The Holy Spirit distributes gifts to us so that we might use them to build up His body, the Church.
