We pray for St. Paul s Cathedral Nicosia, at the heart of our Diocese, and for its new Dean, Jeremy Crocker and his family; that his ministry may be blessed by God, and that, together with the whole congregation of St. Paul s all may grow in faith and love. In the parish of Paphos, we support in prayer our brothers and sisters of the Orthodox Church as they celebrate the ministries of the Pre-eminent Apostles Peter and Paul, in the Basilica ruins next to St. Paul s Pillar next to Ayia Kyriaki Church. We give thanks for the visit and preaching of Apostles Barnabas and Paul bringing Christianity to the Island of Cyprus in the first century AD. We also give thanks that we have the opportunity to worship in the Church of Ayia Kyriaki; a building 1

where the very stone walls are cemented by centuries of prayer and praise. We continue to pray for the Persecuted Church in the Middle East, and for all Christians that have no place where they can meet in corporate worship. For further prayers during the week please go to our Diocesan Prayer Guide Booklet and also the Anglican Communion website: www.anglicancommunion.org/acp For the work of the Church - w/e 21st June 2015 Ayia Kyriaki: 392.26 + 100Stg Pledges: 209.00 St. Stephen s: 373.00 Pledges: 232.00 St. Luke s: 129.00 Pledges: 90.00 Open Plate Total : 894.26 + 100Stg WHAT S GOING ON TODAY & THIS WEEK Sunday 28th June - Peter & Paul, Apostles 8.15am Communion by Extension (Reader Trev Sait) - Ayia Kyriaki 9.30am Holy Eucharist (Rev d Andrew) - St. Luke s 11.00am Morning Worship (Readers Ann Bailey & Trev Sait) - St. Stephen s 6.00pm Choral Evensong (Rev d Andrew) - Ayia Kyriaki Wednesday 1st July 9.00am 10.30am Friday 3rd July 2.00pm Sunday 5th July 8.15am 9.30am 11.00am 6.00pm Holy Eucharist (Rev d Andrew) - Ayia Kyriaki Prayer Support Team Meeting - St. Stephen s Craft and Coffee - St. Stephen s Holy Eucharist (Bishop Michael) - Ayia Kyriaki Morning Worship (Reader Ann Bailey) - St. Luke s Holy Eucharist (Bishop Michael) - St. Stephen s Holy Eucharist (Bishop Michael) - Ayia Kyriaki Pledges Total: 531.00 THIS PARISH OF OURS Duty Wardens for week Ayia Kyriaki - 8.15 a.m. Jacquie Hammond + week Ayia Kyriaki - 6.00 p.m. Jacquie Hammond St. Stephen s - Bob Cross St. Luke s - Catherine Elliott A Notice for our U.K. Visitors Gift Aid - The Anglican Church of Paphos, through the Jerusalem and East Mission Trust UK Endowment Fund, is recognised by the UK tax authorities as a registered UK charity. Any donations made by UK Taxpayers are eligible for Gift Aid. In order to participate, a Gift Aid envelope must be completed and submitted to the Church. So that we can claim back any tax, it is vitally important that the information required on the front of the blue Gift Aid envelope is completed IN FULL. If this is not done we are unable to make a valid claim. Your participation in the Gift Aid Scheme is much appreciated as the church is totally self-supporting. Thank you. 2

Gift Aid envelopes are provided with the Weekly Notice Sheet for your convenience. GENERAL NOTICES Personal Gift to Rev d Nic and Family: Some Parishioners have mentioned missing the opportunity to give towards the Parish gift to Nic of an icon (The Virgin of Kykkos - which may be viewed on the web-site). This being the case, and with Nic and family s visa into Australia taking much longer than planned, maybe some would like to give a personal cash gift to him. If so please give the money to your warden - clearly marked - over the next two Sundays (5th + 12th July). Our treasurer will forward these amounts into Nic s bank account on Monday 13th July. Thank you, Jacquie Hammond. Friends of the Anglican Church in Paphos: If you are a visitor or even a Swallow you might be interested in becoming a Friend of the Anglican Church in Paphos. If you are interested or would like further information please pick up a leaflet from the Warden or Sidesmen. Thank you for your support. Sponsored Swim Update: I have been requested to explain in more detail the working of the sponsored swim that ACP funds will benefit from. Firstly it is essential that as many people as possible participate and/or support it, in order to sustain the running of the three churches for the remainder of 2015, including a contribution to the new priest hopefully joining us in 2016. Anyone who enjoys swimming is being asked to join in and seek sponsorship thus raising money (at no cost to yourself). You can swim for as long or as short as you wish in either time or distance and it can be in any place - here or abroad, in a pool, in the sea or in a gym/spa. PLEASE register, if possible by 6th July, with Di Sylvester on 99 103976 or alternatively David Gisborne 97 732560 who will give you a Registration Number. Any friends and UK swimmers should also register for their sponsorship swim. The names of all the registered swimmers will be circulated in mid- July so that any non-swimmer can offer their support by sponsoring one of the names on the list. There is no urgency for the completion of the swim (before the end of August) but there is an urgency for as many people as possible to register by 6th July! Ways in which the monies raised by the swimmers and their sponsors when they have completed their swim can be paid in will be circulated in late July via the WNS. please DO NOT hand any monies into the normal church offertory collection. Any questions please contact either Di, David or myself. Roger Bailey, Chair, Major Fund Raising Team. Church Weekends away, Winter 2015 and Spring 2016: The Social and Fundraising Committee are considering organising two Church weekends away but need to know how many people would be interested before they take it any further. Please pick up a form from the sidesmen, complete and return as soon as possible. Further details will be available in due course, if there are enough people showing an interest. Summer Quiz: As there will be no Flower Festival this year, several people have emailed me to enquire about the quiz which we usually have on this occasion and it has therefore been decided to run a Quiz during the summer months. Copies are available in each Church from the Warden on Duty at each service at 2 per copy and the closing date is the end of September. Margaret Keeble (keeble@cytanet.com.cy) 26422380 / 99533704 We give thanks for the 45 year ministry of our former Parish Priest, the Rev d Fr. Tony Jeynes, in the Dioceses of Chester, Blackburn and Cyprus and the Gulf; and for the blessings his continuing ministry, with the bishop s Permission to Officiate, in many diverse ways brings to parishes and the Mission to Seafarers. We rejoice, as he recently celebrated a birthday, and wish him and Irene, Mrs Jeynes, blessings and good health for many years ahead. Women s Group: Twenty-four ladies turned up for a Garden Party in the lovely garden of Sue Vyvyan-Robinson on Friday 19th June. 3

The weather was rather unkind, with a couple of showers, but we all enjoyed it none-the-less. Sue and Lou organised a raffle which raised 150, and Mary Brown made another 50 with the Craft Stall - both donated to the Church. Many thanks to these three and to all those who contributed raffle prizes and tempting refreshments; and most of all many thanks to Sue for the use of her delightful garden and facilities. There will be no Women s Group meeting in July or August, so the next will be at the usual time of 3pm on Thursday 17th September at St. Luke s, Prodromi, when there will be a talk on Reflexology, with refreshments provided by the ladies of St. Luke s. The October meeting will be held in St. Stephen s, hosted by Ayia Kyriaki, more details later. NOTICES FOR TODAY, THIS WEEK & NEXT SUNDAY Invitation from the Bishopric of Paphos: On the occasion of the feast of the Pre-eminent Apostles Peter and Paul and in memory of the visit and preaching of Apostles Barnabas and Paul in Paphos, a panegyric vesper will be held on Monday 29th June 2015, at 7.30pm, at the St. Paul s Pillar, next to Ayia Kyriaki church, in Kato Paphos in the presence of His Beatitude, the Archbishop of Cyprus Mr Crysostomos, the Metropolitan of Paphos and other Bishops. At the end of the Vesper, a procession with the icon of the Apostles Barnabas and Paul will follow, with the escort of a military squad and the police band. A speech will be heard by the Archimandrite Theologos Alexandrakis. You are all invited to honour the Apostles with your presence. Prayer Support Team: The Prayer Support Team will be holding their next monthly meeting on Wednesday 1st July at St. Stephen s at 10.30. We welcome any who would like to join us in this ministry.
