THE APOSTLE PAUL S LETTER TO THE CHURCHES of GALATIA CHAPTER 6:6-11 MEDIA REFERENCE NUMBER SM-357 SEPTEMBER 22, 2002 THE TITLE OF THE MESSAGE: GOD S PEOPLE IN GOD S HOUSE SUBJECT TOPICALLY REFERENCED UNDER: Body Ministry, Tithing, Service, Church INTRODUCTION to the text Galatians 6:6-11 Paul now begins to end his letter to the churches of Galatia. He has poured his heart into the message. He has desired to liberate, again, those who had become bound by the damning effects that legalism can bring to a thriving and growing ministry. In rapid succession he fires off a series of challenging considerations that are just as meaningful today as they were to the reader some two thousand years ago. Romans 15:4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Paul is Passionately Committed to the Welfare of GOD S PEOPLE, IN GOD S HOUSE 1

We see each other with these human eyes We dwell in this physical house of worship, But it is with the true vision of spiritual eyes that we see actual reality There are Spiritual Laws in Effect The Law of Christian Love Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. John 13:34-35 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." GOD S PEOPLE, IN GOD S HOUSE 1.) We Have a God Ordained Obligation vv. 6 Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. (the word) 2

GOD S PEOPLE, IN GOD S HOUSE We Have a God Ordained Obligation a.) We re to unite around the word of God Verse 6 Let him who is taught the word Taught grk 2727 katecheo (kat-ay-kheh'-o); to pour truth into the ears. to indoctrinate, to inform, instruct, and teach the way of life. That The Christian Experience is a Dynamic The Church is a Gathering Place of Redeemed People. The People are United by the Holy Spirit, United in the Word of God the Bible! We re United around the Word 1 Timothy 3:14-15 These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; 15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, (the church is) the pillar (column) and ground (foundation) of the truth. It is the teaching and exercising of the Word that Unites a Church 3

I t s t h e c h u r c h ( t h a t s u s ) t h a t C o n t a i n s a n d H o l d s H i g h t h e T r u t h o f G o d 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. GOD S PEOPLE, IN GOD S HOUSE We Have a God Ordained Obligation b.) To bless those who are a blessing to Us Verse 6 Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. him who teaches The Minister of the Word of God Is to give out the word through teaching. It is via the gift of teaching that a Pastor can rightly lead the Flock of God. 1 Peter 5:2 (KJV) Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Jeremiah 3:15 And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. 4

John 21:15-16 and Jesus said unto Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs. And He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" and Peter said unto to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Tend My sheep." That If a Shepherd is Called to Serve Up the Word His Life s Ministry Will be a God Ordained Obligation a Blessing to Him to Teach Them Share grk 2841 koinoneo (koy-no-neh'-o); to share with another. To make distribution. 1 Timothy 5:17-18 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 18 For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain," and, "The laborer is worthy of his wages." 1 Corinthians 9:9-16 For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain." Is it oxen God is concerned about? 10 Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope. 11 If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things? 12 If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more? Nevertheless we have not used this right, but endure all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ. 13 Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar? 14 Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel. 15 But I have used none of these things, nor have I written these things that it should be done so to me; for it would be better for me to die than that anyone should make my boasting void. 16 For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel! This God Ordained Obligation Of Christian Fellowship within the Church is to bless those who are a blessing to Us 5

Some people Need Tenderness Some people Need Encouragement Some people Need Money Some people Need Care Some people Need Acts of Kindness The Fruit of the Spirit for sure! The Local Church and it s Function in the Community We Have a God Ordained Obligation GOD S PEOPLE, IN GOD S HOUSE 2.) We Have God Given Insight vv. 7-8 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. We Have God Given Insight a.) So we can be wise spiritual investors Verse 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Knowing What to Avoid 6

Do not be deceived, Decieved grk 4105 planao (plan-ah'-o); To wander or roam from the truth, to deviate off course. And or to be seduced away from what s right A Divine Natural Law Sow and Reaping T.V Commercials The Budweiser Guys and Girls And their beer drinking figures Or the Marlboro Man and in the Wild M an - If Smoke and Drink I ll be Good Looking and Healthy Too Verse 7 We Can Be Wise Spiritual Investors God is not mocked; Mocked grk 3456 mukterizo (mook-tay-rid'-zo); Ignored by jokes or neglected by self-justification. To fail in the worse way at ridiculing God. YOU CANNOT TOY WITH GOD O Pastor Jack - I Haven t been caught yet! You ve Already Been Caught His Judgement is Being Prepared, as I speak 7

2 Peter 3:9-10 9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Romans 13:1-5 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except that which is from God, and the authorities that do exist are appointed by God Himself. Therefore, whoever resists the authority that is, resists the very ordinance of God, and those who resist - will bring judgment on themselves. For those who have been given authority are not a terror to people who do good works, but to those who are sinning. Do you want to be unafraid of the authoritys in this life? Do the right thing, and you will have the praises from of the authorities. For he is God's minister to you for your own good. But if you are bent on sinning, be afraid of him; for he does not bear his sword in vain; for he is ordained as God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices sin. Therefore you must be subject him, not only because of wrath but also for your own conscience' sake. A Very Dangerous Direction You may fool yourself into heading down a destructive path, but God will never be fooled and He cannot be tricked into following you to your ruin. Verse 7 for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Here we See The Law of Returns Jesus Considered Himself to be a Sower Matthew 13:18 "Therefore hear the parable of the sower: (the one who puts forth the Word of God) 8

If you take time to sow an apple seed - you can expect to harvest apples. If you take time to sow An avocado seed - you can expect to harvest avocados. If you take time to sow Sinful things - you can expect to harvest judgement If you take time to sow Righteous Things - you can expect to harvest Great Blessings Matthew 7:16-18 "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? 17 "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Verse 7 And Knowing What to Embrace A Very Profitable Return for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." You Cannot Out Give God (He will never become indebted to you) 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. We Have God Given Insight b.) So we can enjoy the maximum of return Verse 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 10

John 10:10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Enter into the joy of your lord.' 22 "He also who had received two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.' 23 "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' 24 "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 'And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.' 26 "But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 'So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 'Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29 'For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 'And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness.
