Hymn: More Voices 12 Come Touch Our Hearts

Come Touch Our Hearts Come touch our hearts that we may know compassion, From failing embers build a blazing fire; Love strong enough to overturn injustice, To seek a world more gracious, Come touch and bless our hearts.

Come touch our souls that we may know and love you, Your quiet presence all our fears dispel; Create a space for spirit to grow in us, Let life and beauty fill us, Come touch and bless our souls.

Come touch our minds and teach us how to reason, Set free our thoughts to wonder and to dream, Help us to open doors of understanding, To welcome truth and wisdom, Come touch and bless our minds.

Come touch us in the moments we are fragile, And in our weakness your great strength reveal; That we may rise to follow and to serve, Steady now our nerve, Come touch and bless our wills.

Come touch us now, this people who are gathered, To break the bread and share the cup of peace; That we may love you with our heart, our soul, Our mind, our strength, our all, Come touch us with your grace.

Call to Worship Leader: If God had only given us life People: It would have been enough.

Leader: If God had only given us the bounty of Creation... People: It would have been enough.

Leader: If God had only given us the ability to love... People: It would have been enough.

Leader: If God had only given us our ability to learn People: It would have been enough.

Leader: If God had only give us our drive to create People: It would have been enough.

Leader: We may never be rid of our desire for more People: But what you have given is enough.

Leader: So let us worship you, God, with all our hearts People: Because to live with gratitude is enough.

Your Grace is All I Need Your grace is all I need. Let your grace flow over me. Your grace is all I need, All I will ever need.

All: Though we like to consider ourselves better than the creatures that surround us, God, our instincts aren t so very different. The urge to have more; the urge to be more; to guard against the possibility that someday your abundance might run out and we will be left with nothing.

But this urge it has taken a hold of us, God, and now we are content with nothing. Not our lives. Not our relationships. Not even ourselves. Nothing we have not even you can satisfy our relentless craving for more, and more, and more.

Help us to be content with what we have. To recognize that what you ve given us isn t just enough, but more than enough to last us all forever if we re smart enough and just enough to manage it with compassion. Help us, God, to find our forgotten gratitude as we come to you in worship this day.

Your Grace is All I Need Your grace is all I need. Let your grace flow over me. Your grace is all I need, All I will ever need.

God at My Right Hand God at my right hand, God at my left. God close behind me, God up above. God behind me, God before me. Fill me with grace and love.

Growing in Faith

Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying Lord, listen to your children praying, Lord, send your Spirit in this place; Lord, listen to your children praying, Send us love, send us power, send us grace!

Walk with me, I will walk with you And build the land That God has planned Where love shines through.

Genesis 2:15-17, 3:1-7

VU 759

Response: Be glad in God you righteous. Rejoice, O saints, rejoice.

Leader: Blessed are those whose offenses are forgiven, Whose sin has been put away. All: Blessed are those to whom God imputes no guilt, And in whose spirit there is no deceit.

Response: Be glad in God you righteous. Rejoice, O saints, rejoice.

Leader: When I kept silence, my body wasted away, While I groaned all the day long. All: For your hand was heavy upon me day and night; my strength dried up as in a summer drought.

Leader: Then I acknowledged my sin to you, my guilt I did not hide. All: I said: I will confess my sins to God ; And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

Leader: Therefore let all the faithful pray to you in time of trouble; All: When great floodwater rises, it shall not come near them.

Leader: You are a hiding place for me, You will preserve me from trouble; All: You will surround me with shouts of deliverance.

Response: Be glad in God you righteous. Rejoice, O saints, rejoice.

Leader: I will teach you, and guide you in the way you should go. All: I will keep you under my eye and instruct you.

Leader: Be not like a horse or mule, without understanding, All: Whose course must be checked with bit and bridle.

Leader: Many pains are in store for the wicked, All: But whoever trusts in God, Is surrounded by steadfast love.

Response: Be glad in God you righteous. Rejoice, O saints, rejoice.

Sacred Space Pause, Pray, Reflect One: All: One: Hear the Word of scripture. In the Spirit we will listen. Pause. Pray. Reflect. And in silence enjoy this moment of sacred space.

Bread of Life More Voices 194

Bread of Life Bread of life, feed my soul, As the presence of the spirit makes me whole. Bread of life, fill my heart With the grace and mercy you impart.

I have heard your voice calling, Come, my friend, and share In the feast that is laid out for you To show how much I care.

Bread of life, help me live A life as pure and true as Jesus did. Bread of life, help me see The boundless love of Christ for you and me.

I have heard your voice calling, Come, my friend, and share In the feast that is laid out for you To show how much I care.

Bread of life, feed my soul, As the presence of the spirit makes me whole. Bread of life, fill my heart With the grace and mercy you impart.

Leader: God is with us. People: We are not alone. Leader: Christ is present here. People: The Spirit is among us. Leader: Let us give thanks to God. People: In memory and hope.

Leader: Blessed are you, gracious God, Creator of light, Giver of all life, Source of love. From the dust of the earth, you created us in your image. From bondage and slavery, you delivered us. Through all our wilderness wanderings you guide us. You call us to renewal and repentance, to justice and compassion, to healing and wholeness.

Leader: We thank you for sending us Jesus. He lived and loved this human life, taking upon himself our suffering and sorrow, being tested as we are tested and reaching out to those who re broken by our world s brokenness. In him we come to know your truth, to feel the life that is Christ within us. So it is that throughout these Lenten days and nights we worship you and bless your name:

Sung: Holy, holy, holy, God of power and might; Holy, holy, holy, Heaven and earth proclaim thee. Holy, holy, holy, Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is the one, the one who comes in your name. Hosanna in the highest.

Leader: On the night before he died, Jesus took bread, and after giving thanks to God, he broke it, and gave it to those who sat with him saying: Take, eat. This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.

Leader: In the same way he took the cup saying: This cup is the new covenant sealed in my blood, shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me.

Leader: Loving God, we rejoice in the gift of your grace, remembering Christ s life and death, proclaiming his resurrection, waiting in hope for his coming again. Grant that in praise and thanksgiving, we may so offer ourselves to you that our lives may proclaim the mystery of faith:

Sung: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come, come again.

Leader: By these signs of bread and wine, we recognize the longings of all our hearts for a time when all humanity will be one family when justice and compassion will be the way we live according to the One we seek. Holy Spirit, hover over our lives, uniting us in these signs and strengthening us to live the resurrected life of Christ in the world.

Sharing the Bread and Cup

Leader: Heart of life, though we live in a world of need, People: Here we have tasted your goodness and hungered for a world more just.

Leader: Though afflicted by brokenness and division, People: Here we have heard your call to be a people of healing community.

Leader: Though daily we touch our limits, People: Here we have received the fullness of your grace.

Leader: Send us forth, O God, People: In faith, in hope, and in love. Amen.

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins

As we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial And deliver us from evil For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, Now and forever.

Offering

Grant Us, God, the Grace Grant us, God, the grace of giving, With a spirit large and free, That ourselves and all our living We may offer faithfully.

Hymn: VU 686 God Of Grace and God of Glory

God Of Grace and God of Glory God of grace and God of glory, On your people pour your power; Now fulfill your church s story; Bring its bud to glorious flower. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, For the facing of this hour.

Lo! The host of evil round us Scorn your Christ, assail your ways! Fears and doubts too long have bound us; Free our hearts to work and praise. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, For the living of these days.

Cure your children s warring madness; Bend our pride to your control; Shame our wanton selfish gladness, Rich in goods and poor in soul. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, Lest we miss your kingdom s goal.

Set our feet on lofty places; Gird our lives that they may be Armoured with all Christ-like graces Pledged to set all captives free. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, That we fail not them nor thee.

I Am Walking a Path of Grace I am walking a path of grace, I am walking a path of grace, I am walking a path of grace, Lead me home, lead me home.
