Hallowed be your name means: Help us to truly know you, to honor, glorify, and praise you for all your works and for all that shines forth from them: your almighty power, wisdom, kindness, justice, mercy, and truth. And it means, Help us to direct all our living what we think, say, and do so that your name will never be blasphemed because of us but always honored and praised. MOMENT FOR STEWARDSHIP CALL TO WORSHIP: Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Dave Colvin Patrick Striker

I want to thank you, Lord, for setting me free, and saving my soul. (VERSE 1) Thank you for the food we get from Your fields across the land. Thank you for the love we feel from each other's helping hand. Thank you for the way you shine in Your sunrise every day. But most of all I thank You, Lord, for showing me the way. (REPEAT CHORUS) (VERSE 2) Thank you for redeeming blood that saves me from my sin. Thank you for your healing grace that frees my soul within. Thank you for forgiving me, though I do not understand. How you could come from heaven to earth to give your life for man. (REPEAT CHORUS) Dennis Bortz, Used by permission PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Rev. Don Meekhof TIME OF PRAYER Patrick Striker Call to Confession We do not confess our sins in the hope of forgiveness;
we confess our sins with the certainty of forgiveness. For the apostle Paul assures us that we have been rescued from the power of darkness, and transferred into the kingdom of God s beloved son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. And so with that promise, that assurance, that redemption we confess our sins before God and one another. Prayer of Confession Holy God, we confess that we have neglected to declare Jesus the king and model for our lives. We have been quick to call on others to follow the ways of Christ yet slow to do the same. We have been bold in demanding generosity, mercy, and forgiveness yet quiet when it comes to offering inclusion, love, and compassion. Forgive us, O God. Restore in us, yet again, the commitment to be more Christlike in word, in deed, and in spirit. Amen. [Silent Prayer] Assurance of Pardon All things, in heaven and on earth, are reconciled to God in Jesus Christ. Forgiveness is ours through faith in the Lord, in whom God was pleased to dwell. Know that you are forgiven, and be at peace. Offertory Autumn Organ Cécile Chaminade SCRIPTURE READINGS Lois and Nick Robertson Mark 1:14 15 (NIV) After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 The time has come, he said. The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news! Ezekiel 11:17 20 (NIV)
17 Therefore say: This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again. 18 They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. 19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. 20 Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God. Luke 4:18 19, 21 (NIV) 18 The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord s favor. 21 He began by saying to them, Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. Matthew 24:30 (NIV) Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. Matthew 24:42 (NIV) Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. *SONG OF WORSHIP THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS JUSTICE AND JOY (Hymn #712) (VERSE 1) The kingdom of God is justice and joy; for Jesus restores what sin would destroy. God s power and glory in Jesus we know, and here and hereafter the kingdom shall grow. (VERSE 2)
The kingdom of God is mercy and grace; the captives are freed, the sinners find place. The outcasts are welcomed God s banquet to share, and hope is awakened in place of despair. (VERSE 3) The kingdom of God is challenge and choice; believe the good news, repent and rejoice! His love for us sinners brought Christ to his cross, our crisis of judgment for gain or for loss. (VERSE 4) God s kingdom is come, the gift and the goal; in Jesus begun, in heaven made whole. The heirs of the kingdom shall answer his call, and all things cry Glory! to God All-in-all. MESSAGE Rev. John Noah Jesus and the Kingdom of God *CLOSING SONG JESUS SHALL REIGN (Hymn #745) (VERSE 1) Jesus shall reign where er the sun does its successive journeys run; his kingdom spread from shore to shore, til moons shall wax and wane no more. (VERSE 2) To him shall endless prayer be made,
and endless praises crown his head; his name like sweet perfume shall rise with every morning sacrifice. (VERSE 3) People and realms of every tongue dwell on his love with sweetest song, and infant voices shall proclaim their early blessings on his name. (VERSE 4) Blessings abound where er he reigns; the prisoners leap to lose their chains, the weary find eternal rest, and all who suffer want are blessed.
